This was my second time coming. My first was not the best experience, but this time. Nothing short of amazing. I was greeted as soon as I walked in. My server was very attentive and friendly. She gave great recommendations. My daughter and I shared lunch. I ordered the lobster po boy. It was a half sandwich and came with a side of French fries and a cup of gumbo. I was worried that the lobster would be tough but boy was I was wrong. It was flaky and tender. Very juicy and so stinking good. My gumbo had the perfect amount of heat and plenty of crab shrimp and sausage. I normally go with a normal mimosa bc you can't mess that up too bad. But I went with the server recommendation for the blackberry mango and I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't too sweet like I thought it would be. The bartender did great with that. I would have had another if I wasn't driving. Lol. The manager came around and checked on every table and had genuine conversation. It was a great experience and I'm excited to go back. More...

Good food, great service, a great place to check out. I actually prefer the breakfast and dinner menu. For breakfast I have had the fish (snapper), my husband loves the French toast. For lunch I enjoy the Po Boy Sandwich combo that comes with fries and a cup of Gumbo. The gumbo is a little spicy, nice variety of seafood, with a crab leg and just goodness. The food is always fresh, crispy and flavorful. Dinner, I had the combo with the oysters, shrimp, lobster, and fish fried with French fries. It was so much that I had to take half home. The Shrimp and grits were amazing. The sauce on the grits is very creamy and adds an elegant touch to the dish. Out of the several times I have been, the food has taken a while to come out (otherwise I would give 5 stars). Around 20 minutes, but there were a bit busy. The Mango Preserves that comes with toast for breakfast is absolutely delicious. The beignets are SO GOOOD!! My only complaint is that the place is a bit small but the ambience is lovely. More...

Food was fantastic and service at the bar was excellent . Would have been a 5 but food came out very slowly - not sure why . Restaurant was busy for lunch but assume they are busy all the time . The bartender waited on us , he was great . Really hustling behind the bar getting things ready for his next orders . When our shrimp and grits came along with our oyster po boy - both were hot and really excellent . Everyone was attentive - greeting you , thanking you at the conclusion of your visit . More...

A good friend bought me to this place and it's so cute! I love the decor and their signature orange color splashed around. I found out they own a bed and breakfast right across the street, and several other businesses in the area. We had a 2-3min wait for a seat at the counter with Tony. He and the team are a well oiled machine. I didnt read the whole menu but I loved what I saw. Fab drinks, coy names for everything, all around greatness. There was one bridal party leaving and replaced with another one. They have a small retail area behind the hostess stand and they do have an upstairs for private/afterhours events. My friend suggested the mimosa flight. 4 mini milk shaped bottles had a mango, pomegranate, and I can't remember the other 2.I got the fish and grits and it came with eggs and toast with their signature mango marmalade. I got egg whites with cheddar. All was tasty, I was full but I couldnt stop eating. I didnt eat it all. I already know what I want when I go back! Check this place out! More...

The portions are hearty but still somehow just right! The ingredients are clearly fresh and the food appears to come from the kitchen with love, just for me. Some of the hostess staff can get sassy at times which can be frustrating when you expect great customer service. What a wonderful experience! Although the place was packed for Sunday brunch, we added our names to the list & took our seats for the 45 minute wait. But we had plenty to keep us busy! The menu cover & wall behind the hostess tells the story of their beginnings. Our waitress Ashley was phenomenal. Knowing it was our first time there she acquainted us with the "inside" story & recommended how to fine tune our dishes to our liking. The Mangeaux Peach Sangria was delicious! And our meals! Everyone got something different, so we were able to share & taste a number of dishes. I ordered the Chesapeake Benedict which was wonderful! I'm still dreaming about the beurre sauce! My husband is very basis & ordered the 2 Up & 2 Down. He didn't leave a morsel! One niece ordered the Chicken & French Toast and the other various sides. We all loved the chicken & the entire table agreed that the skillet potatoes were the bomb!! I was particularly taken by the Mango Fruit Dip! We'll be back whenever we come back to Hampton to visit our college students! And of course we purchased a big jar of Mango Preserves to make the experience last that much longer! More...

Laissez les bon temps rouler - or as they say in New Orleans, "let the good times roll!"My group of friends and I definitely enjoyed our trip to Mango Mangeaux today. Our food, drinks, and waitress were amazing. Let me explain. Upon being seated, we were shown a lot of attention by Danielle - she was really sweet and constantly checked up on us and made sure our water and cocktails and mimosa glasses were filled. The customer service was great. She explained everything on the menu and offered lots of suggestions. I had the orange mango mimosa and it was extremely smooth and tasty. I also got the apple pie mimosa because why not?! It was interesting. It wasn't as flavorful as the other drinks my party ordered but I enjoyed it because I enjoy champagne- which is an acquired taste. My friend said it tasted like "pee." How classy?!It was also garnished with a tasty, dehydrated apple which I thought was a cute accent. I settled on the fish and grits and oh man was it good. The Texas toast with their famous mango preserves was decadent, soft, and thick - the preserves were fresh and sweet! My scrambled eggs were scrambled to perfection with sharp cheddar cheese. My grits were fluffy, buttery and thick, not runny and watery like most places. My snapper was amazing too. It was fried to perfection and almost tasted like fried chicken. It was the best piece of fish I've had in a while. Very satisfying, flaky, and the seasoning and breading had a great crunch. The only setback was the wait time. They were super busy. Also, if you order a drink and you taste it and don't like it - they will still charge you as they don't take back alcohol. It's understandable but our waitress didn't let us know despite making a new drink for my friend. He wasn't a fan of the manmosa but was still charged for it. More...

There is sort of an allure about Mango Mangeaux. Maybe it's the name, maybe it's the unique products, maybe it's the appearance on Shark Tank, maybe it's all of the above. After living on the Peninsula for two years, I came with a meetup group, there were 8 of us and thankfully we were at the front of the line, so we didn't have to wait. I really liked the unique mango-esque orange color of the interior, I wouldn't have minded some of that color in my apartment.I ordered a mango iced tea to drink, which came in their own plastic bottle, and I kept it at one since there are no free refills. Three bucks isn't terrible, but I made sure to be careful. I ordered the sweet potato French toast, I got four slices with pecan pralines and covered in powdered sugar. It was fine, a good thickness, pretty flavorful, but the pecans were definitely needed for a contrast in texture. I also got their homemade turkey sausage, because often do you find that on a breakfast menu. It looked really weird, but it had a nice seasoning on it.Our server was incredibly friendly and attentive, had a positive, upbeat attitude despite dealing with a lot of tables. The food did take some time to arrive, but with the restaurant filling up so fast at one time, that's to be expected. It's a nice place to visit, I think I would just change my order for next time. A quaint little place, whose reputation is bigger than the location. I would strongly advise you to research the times of when to visit. Our first visit was incomplete, due to a 1.5 - 2hr wait time. Our second visit, was on a Sunday because we were told to be there @ opening (9-9:30a). We had a party of five and was seated immediately; however,  within 30 - 45 minutes the place was full.. I will not bore you with the details of the menu because everything we ordered was good. (Note: I like salmon, usually grilled or broiled, but they have a fried option and we ordered the fried and you have to be careful not to over cook salmon and I think frying salmon has a tendency to dry it out, even submerged in cooking oil). I'll leave that to your discretion...Overall a good experience. The mango butter and fruit spreads are wonderful. The service is polite. The atmosphere is open, maybe a bit noisy when full but understandable due to size. Two thumbs up. I would recommend and revisit when in the area. Thanks for reading... More...

I can't believe I haven't written a review sooner. Lol. This establishment has definitely grown in the best way since I was first introduced and I say this in the best way possible! I first came here in 2017, and the food was good, but the customer service was not its best. And tbh, that's pretty much why I stopped going. Who wants to have to wait for bad service full of attitude and wrong orders? Not me!But now... I absolutely love it here! its honestly my favorite Friday brunch spot.  The customer service is spot on, they go up and beyond for their customers, and the food and mimosas are always good! The pitcher is so convenient if you're there with a party of 3 or more. I personally prefer to come here for breakfast only because i'm a big brunch/breakfast person. I love the chicken and waffles & fried salmon & grits. The beignets, bomb af! Lol. The portions are perfect. They do also have vegan and vegetarian options. Now, they only serve at different times. So for example: you can only get breakfast through a certain time, lunch at a certain, and dinner at a certain time. You can't just order anything off the menu. I advise you to go through out the week or make a reservation if you really want to go on the weekends. They fill up fast! This is a great spot to bring family, friends, co workers, etc. They also have an outdoor area and rooftop to host events. Go check it out if you haven't. More...

I didn't think we would need one for a weekday lunch? For weekend dinner I'd understand. If you are planning on going, it sounds a little ridiculous but just make a reservation just in case. Our food took over 30 minutes to come and it was lukewarm and not hot. The 2x2 breakfast was small and not filling. My eggs Benedict was alright. It tasted okay/good. A few times a week I am forced to travel to Hampton / Newport News area and I am often at the mercy of the Hampton Roads tunnel traffic.  On this day there was no exception. There was a horrible accident in the tunnel which created a mass delay of over an hour in traffic. I was dressed like a pauper and just left the gym but decided to wing it and finally try out the Highly Recommended Quiche Lorraine from the bright, beautiful and contemporary restaurant Mango Mangeaux, conveniently located in Hampton, VA. This sophisticated Neo Soul, French creole restaurant is perfectly placed in Downtown Hampton. It's a charming location with red brick sidewalks and charming little shops. There is street parking available depending on the time and day you May have to go around the block a few times but I have not had bad luck in this area. I have been to this restaurant a few times to catch up with a girlfriend or meet with a client. I have not come during its peak hours or in the evening for dinner just yet. My week day encounters seem to be quite pleasant.  I owed this restaurant a proper Yelp Review and had to post pictures but I assure you that my pictures do not do it justice. So where shall I start?  Ok!  Table for 1 please I was prompted greeted by a lovely greeter and walked to my table.  I love that even though the facility is small they had added the touch of having a greeter at the door to escort you to your table. Nice touch! The waiters are dressed in all black which added to the level of sexy sleekness to the contemporary design on the restaurants decor. With subtle grey, crisp white and pops of bright orange. This restaurant is very appealing to the eye and leaves you feeling as if you are in a chic establishment. My server was Tony.  He gave me EXCELLENT service!! He offered brought over a visual of the flight mimosa basket and explained that there were 4 signature mimosas available to tantalize my tastebuds.  Although they were so visually appealing and gave me more bang for my buck at the price of $24 I kindly declined because my work day had just started. I will be taking a rein check on that one. I did have him select a mimosa for me that was not overly sweet and he brought me a mimosa with pomegranate and the touch of pomegranate seeds on the bottom was a nice touch. I ordered the infamous Quiche Lorraine which came with a fruit platter and this sinfully deliciously I fruit dip. A assure you the only word I can use to describe this dipIs Lucious  kind of like body butter!  Oh yeah ‍ if I'm not mistake it may be a combination of whipped cream cheese and the Mango preserves used in just about everything in Mango Mangeaux Upon receiving my Quiche i could see that it was a bit loose or what looked like to me as being too under cooked for my liking. Don't get me wrong I love a soft scramble on my eggs but I personally felt that the Quiche was too soft. Particularly in the middle.  The flavor tho!  wow perfectly seasoned. Not sure what type of cheese they used but I know they did not use it sparingly but and quality high fat quality heavy cream. I mean corners were not cut when making this Quiche. It was chocked full of fresh spinach and Mua brooms. It was in fact more filling than egg not like most places.  The crust was butter and and all I can say was oh yes!!! The execution on the flavor totally exceeding my expectations but the consistency threw me off.My waiter asked if all was to my liking. I expressed that I thought the Quiche was a bit loose for my liking but that I was quite fine and was still enjoying my experience and cocktail as I worked.  Tony insisted on talking to the manager even though I was quite ok and had no complaints The beautiful manager Sharon came to my table and I expressed my concerns. She promptly indicated that she would check with the staff and make sure that the Quiche was being prepared to the exact specifications. She returned. Thanked me for expressing my concerns and replaced my Quiche with one that was a tad firmer from a new Quiche pan. I have posted pictures of both. I apologize for not having the best quality of pictures today. My phone has been a bit rebellious ‍I was checked on once again by both Tony & Sharon. Can anyone say Quality? They take much pride in their food and quality of service in this sophisticated establishment I ordered a jar or preserves to share with the family and ordered a croissant basket to go  for my little chick a dee!  He loves freshly made, warm buttery . They came with mango butter, mango dip and mango preserves. A total of 3 flaky buttery and warm .Tony advised that they make them in house.  My family was pleasantly pleased and even rolled their eyes as they devoured them. Lol. Not only did I enjoy my experience but Sharon took the liberty of giving me a card offering free Beignets on my neck visit! In conclusion I highly reccomend this establishment. More...
