I have worked with Mamacitas several times -- for drop off service and dinner buffet service and every time, my clients have been very happy and impressed with the food. Â They are flexible and are willing to work on creating specific menus. I recently attended an event in San Francisco, and while the speakers were excellent, the catered food was the standout. Everything was fresh and full of flavor. I'm used to the vegetarian option being an afterthought but the veggie kabobs were outstanding. Even the hummus platter was far from basic. And the olive oil citrus cakes, my goodness. Simone and the team at Mamacita's went above and beyond in every way. We were seeking a full day of healthy catered meals for 100+ people. The food itself was the perfect blend of homemade and nourishing, plus clean and nutritious. Simone's quinoa, her cookies, ohmigosh, all of it. And the service? Even more impressive. They made the ordering process easy (a rare treat). The staff arrived on time, and put the kind of care into the set-up and clean-up processes that a family member would do at home - making sure leftovers were boxed up for easy distribution, the tables were clean, and we had everything we needed before she left after a long day with us. Mamacita's catered a small conference that my work hosted, and despite the fact that the final head count for food was a constantly moving target, Mamacita's remained patient, flexible, and gracious throughout the process of helping me put together the menu. Â I have been involved quite a bit in the past with event planning, and I am always nervous about caterers being late, getting the order wrong, etc. but Mamacita's made logistics and communication so easy. I just have to take a minute and recognize Mamacitas Catering service!! I'm a vegetarian that usually HATES tofu...but I had a chance to try Mamacitas tofu dish at a conference I attended and it was . Mamcitas has catered for my work twice. Once for a Board meeting and the other for an event. The food was tasty, fresh, and excellent. Shana and Perla are both wonderful to work with! Both times I had a couple last minute changes to our order and they were both very patient and tried their best to accommodate. Their service is also excellent. Of all the magical heart healing food I have ever eaten, Mamacitas donuts get it done!! Damn, I can't even with them. How do you write a review when you keep drooling on your keyboard, just thinking about those fried joy bombs they call donuts. And the catering!! Simone transformed my workplace from a sad depressing grumpy place where dreams go to die, into a carnival of yum. We were all new people after that. I'm finally gonna get my employee of the month plaque. They may even give me a parking spot after that donut party. Simone was professional, quick, charming and the donuts were unbelievable. Been meaning to come by here forever. Amazing - a queer-centered cafe. I got a refreshing drink - the hibiscus ginger tonic. Delicious and bubbly. They have oat or polenta-based porridge bowls with lots of topping options. Vegetarian or vegan depending on your choices. Look forward to trying that next time. This is a nice little shop. The employees are really friendly and helpful. We got a latte, a decaf coffee, and the polenta with feta cheese, green onions, olives, and sriracha. It was delicious! I was disappointed that we came too early for a donut kabob but there's always next time! I love the atmosphere and that it's empowering young girls and women. They've got wifi here too. Great everything! Â Seriously. Â I had never tried Red Bay Coffee before this- two thumbs up! Â Plus it's roasted in Oakland- I love that! I first tried the oatmeal and went for sweet- adding bananas, brown sugar and yogurt. Â Delicious! Â However, the polenta- oh the polenta! Â I get it with caramelized red onions, fresh green onions, sun-dried tomatoes, olive oil and sea salt. Â Filling, nutritious and absolutely delicious. It was all so good that I had to go back and try their donut happy hour- HOLY COW!!Top that all off with a fantastic mission- " job creation and leadership training for girls in Oakland who face significant barriers to employment," this is definitely a favorite spot now. I'm a coffee-store junkie, so as soon as I saw that this new cafe opened, I had to try it.Since it's opening day, they were offering cardamon donuts and free coffee - both were delicious, and the story of Mamacitas Cafe (fair labor practices, training for high school girls with obstacles to employment) is worth supporting.

Ooh-macita-mamacita-mamama!In a world overrun with Starbucks, Peet's and Keurig machines that you have to decalcify every 2 minutes (you don't know my struggle so you don't feel my hustle! ), a good cup of coffee has become a luxury that too many of us don't get too experience often enough. But look no further! Sip on without the shame of knowing your joe was sourced by underpaid laborers and upheld by unfair labor practices! Dunk a delicious donut hole in that cup and know that pastry was made with wholehearted love and passion by women who support fair business practices and use their small business to uplift their community! I love everything about Mamacita's, and please believe that the coffee, lavender lemonade and yummy donut kebabs are just the beginning. The owners, Shana and Renee, grind super hard for theirs and employ and educate young women in high school on the ins and outs of business ownership along the way by offering opportunities to keep kids occupied and focused.
