I contracted with Maid to Clean about a year ago after being disappointed one too many times by my previous cleaning service. I was referred by satisfied friends who have since moved. The service and its staff are exemplary. The team is on time as promised in the appointment window. The team proceeds to clean and make my home sparkling. The team are lovely ladies who take my specific needs seriously and I cannot live without them, specifically Team 110. Maid to Clean is more effective than therapy and less expensive too. In the pandemic with my husband at home the cleaning team is saving my marriage. For not too much money I get a clean home, happy marriage and positive mental health. No one can afford to be without Team 110 and Maid to Clean. More...

I read the reviews of how professional this company is in the office and field workers. I just called them and that is not what I experienced. I was talking to Sandy about their services, we were discussing windows and how the works Don not open them to clean the tracks. And someone has to be here to open the windows for them. I stated that no one was going to be here. Her response was" Well then I don't think we are the company for you" said goodbye and hung up. That is not polite or professional. It would have been if she stayed on the phone to figure out a solution. I would have no problem being here if I was not moving out of state this Wednesday. Since moving to the DC area, I've been through several different maid services, and I've had some issue or another with every one. Maid Brigade and Progressive both started strong but bad management created situations where they would show up at the wrong times, or give me incorrect estimates. Progressive was especially bad when it came to calling my girlfriend's phone instead of mine to give notice they were on their way, despite repeat attempts to give them the correct phone number. It's worth pointing out that in every case, it was never the maids themselves at fault, but the company. That brought me to try 'Maid to clean' and it's a good thing too, because I was starting to lose hope!

It's a team of 4-5 women who arrive on time, are friendly, and in several instances have gone above and beyond what was asked. Let's just say I had a ... plumbing issue, and despite telling them they should leave it to a plumber, I came home to find they had actually fixed it for me. I have been using Maid To Clean (MTC) on a bi-weekly basis since 2000. The cleaning team is well-trained. They always leave the place spotless. Even our fussy visitors comment on how clean our apartment is after a MTC cleaning. I like that they use cleaning products that do not contain fragrances. When I come home from work on cleaning day, all I smell is "clean". MTC may cost more than other cleaning services but they are worth it.

That said, I do not interact with the cleaning teams very often. If I have to make a special request or set up a cleaning, I communicate with their main office. I have never had a problem. We have had the same cleaning team leader for a number of years, which I think is a good sign.

They have broken a few things. A cheap wine glass and a large picture frame that was resting upright on a fireplace mantle (not mounted on the wall) come to mind. Each time they left a note stating that the object was broken and offering to compensate us. (I never have taken them up on it.) If you want your place thoroughly clean, sometimes things will break. If you don't want the cleaners to touch something, such as, for example, your collection of Hummel figurines, just tape a "no limpiar" sign on the display cabinet.

I also have peace of mind in knowing that the team members are working in the U.S. legally or have work visas. I was glad to find a queer-owned local business that uses green products to provide housekeeping services. I've been a customer off and on for a few years, but I'm done with Maid To Clean.

First off, their policy of not communicating directly with their cleaning people is infuriating, especially when I have tried several times to communicate THEIR way only to find that my requests get lost. Some of the small stuff is the most annoying, like how they'd always put my range back together wrong after cleaning it. Eventually, I started rearranging the rangetop "backwards" in hopes that they'd reverse it back to correct when they were done cleaning, but to no avail. I called to request more attention to these details but those requests never made it to the cleaning crew or were not understood by them.

Secondly, I had asked at one point for them to only do the kitchen, bath and floors in hopes to save some money but this request didn't stick (or it did?) and my monthly bill continued to be the same.

Third, they have a habit of gathering up things and stowing them in places they don't go. Sure, my place can get messy. Two adults, a dog and a small business run out of an apartment can create quite a lot of clutter. But their solution of gathering up all the things lying around on surfaces and putting them in paper bags or piles on a shelf in order to clean a surface was maddening. We were constantly losing important papers, even checks from clients, because we had known what pile it was in until the housekeepers came. Ladies, if the surface has a pile of mail on it, it's probably not dirty enough to warrant cleaning: just leave the pile there.

After some successful austerity measures, we're ready to reinitiate housekeeping services. I thought about simply turning MTC back on but thought I'd check on here first. GLAD I DID! These one- and two-star ratings reminded me of my frustrations. I'll be signing up with someone else. One by one, each room fell to cleanliness, each pile of debris melted beneath their eco-friendly cleaning products, each square inch of newly polished surface revealed itself.

I worked beside our ladies, motivated for the first time in weeks to clean. Meanwhile, they laughed gently at my disheveled hair, constant apologies (lo siento, lo siento!), and unending gratitude. Not only were they polite, gentle, and kind, they were meticulous and dedicated in their mission to clean. In short, they were perfect.

Afterward, I literally sang and danced up and down the hallway, reveling in the shiny clean of our rescued abode. My fiancé, for having ordered the service, was rewarded with kisses and, eventually, a happy wife.

We continue to love each other in our tidy home with the help of Maid to Clean. Our ladies even work around the newest addition to our family: a rambunctious, energetic (read: destructive but still lovable) pit bull puppy.

I do not exaggerate when I credit them with saving our marriage. If you have a relationship on the rocks, or just a nasty house, call them. I love Maid to Clean almost as much as I love my husband, and so will you. I had used this business for a while for cleaning. I had a few problems over the course of several years with some broken items and some missing clothing from my apt. and a rental unit, but nothing huge all at once. One day, I was at a store, tried to use my debit card and found that my checking account had been drained. I contacted my bank and they said that "Maid to Clean" had put through charges until the account was drained. I had used my debit card to pay my bill about six months earlier. They had obviously kept the number and used it to empty that account. I tried to call the company because as a long time customer I wanted to give them a chance to explain. I was told that they gotten my regular payment check but that they did not put through the other charges. I called my bank back, and they said that the Maid Service did in fact put through the other charges no matter what they were telling me. I tried to call back and after telling them what my bank said, their story changed and I kept being told that I owed a bill and they had every right to take that money. So at first they denied putting the charges though, once confronted with my banks evidence they now claimed that I owed a large bill. I explained to them that

1. If I actually owed a bill, why did they at first deny making the chages and draining my checking account?
2. Tthe amount they took would mean that I hadn't paid them in over a year which was ridiculous since they had been cleaning regularly for the past year and not halted service because of any bills.
3. I had records of my payments to them showing that they had in fact recieved payments.
4. It was illegal to take money out of my checking account without my permission, and they did not have permission to keep a debit card number and use it at their discretion.

I told them they had a chance to return the money and I would not report them. The person on the phone said that there was nothing I could do. I contacted my bank, my bank did an investigation determined that the money had been pulled fradulently from my account, my bank then pulled the money back from them and returned it to me. I hired a lawyer who contacted them and demanded any invoices to show that I did not owe them the money that they had attempted to take from me.. They tried to send a bill that was unreadable and skipped over several months. A second request from my lawyer got another set of partially unreadable invoices that again skipped several months and did not show payments I had made. My lawyer then spoke with them again and said that since they obviously had no complete or readable invoices to back up their claim, they were to return any copies of my keys and never to come out to the house again. (remember, at first they claimed they did not put the charges through, only after my bank told me they were not being honest did they admit to the charges) It took them two months and another contact from the lawyer to return my keys and I ended up changing my locks. They requested that I not report them to any organization like the BBB. I reported them, and once again every time the BBB recieved a response, their story had changed from the one before. I am not sure what they thought they would accomplish with this, since it was obvious who had taken the money out of my account, and my bank after investigating got the funds back from them very quickly.

Obviously I do not recommend this business. Had my first cleaning today. Unbelieveably great! Team of three was in and out in under two hours and the bill was near the bottom of the estimate. Will definitely continue to use them. More...

We had Maid to Clean come out to our one bedroom apartment. We have lived here for almost a year and this is the 1st time we have had professional cleaners in our apartment.

Setting up an appointment was really simple and the people I spoke with were very helpful.

The cleaning crew arrived right on time. I was actually in the apartment the whole time they were cleaning, so I got to see the effort they put into the clean-up. The apartment was a total mess especially since we have barely been in there in the last one month. The kitchen had proven especially difficult to clean with many nooks and crannies which are tough to reach.

Everything is now sparkling clean. I am really pleased with the clean fridge, microwave, stove, oven, the area behind the fridge, some splatter stains and the window blinds.

Overall I was very pleased with the service. The women were great. I will definitely be using them again. More...

All I have to say is wow!! Do these people do a great job!!

We needed a company to do a move-out clean for an apartment we were leaving - 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom, about 1200+ sq feet. We called Maid to Clean and scheduled with them.

A little back story: When I moved into the apartment, the previous tenants left the place a mess. It was nasty dirty, dust everywhere, stains on the floors, counters, mold in the shower, nasty microwave, nasty stove... just... eww. I hired another cleaning company at the time to clean the place, and while they did a nice job, it was nothing in comparison to what Maid to Clean did for our move-out clean.

We told Maid to Clean that our landlord was extremely picky and everything had to be spotless. They delivered ten-fold. I had never seen that place so clean in my entire life. If only I had known about Maid to Clean when I moved in!

Here are some examples:

(1) There was dust and dirt on the corners of the rug that try as I might, I couldn't remove. Yet somehow the ladies who came to clean our place got it out.

(2) There was nasty burned on food to the gas burners on the stove that had been there since long before I moved in. I scrubbed and scrubbed and could never get it out myself. These ladies got almost all of it out.

(3) There was some sort of sticky residue on the cabinets above the stove (probably from the previous tenants cooking and having it spray everywhere and not clean it), that even with goo-gone, I couldn't get out myself. And that's right, you guessed it, these ladies at Maid to Clean removed it.

They scrubbed the walls and got out a bunch of scuff marks. They even removed the refrigerator and cleaned behind it. The hardwood floor was soon clean after they were done with it, that you could probably have eaten off of it.

I can not say enough about how pleased I was with their work. And the best part of it is.... our landlord will be giving us our security deposit back, in full. She knew what kind of disaster we moved into, and was incredibly happy to see the place clean and well taken care of.

I wish I could give this place 6 stars. I have not used Maid to Clean to actually perform a cleaning (a move-out clean). At the time I was booking the appointment, I didn't realize my dear partner was scrubbing the place down himself.

However, Maid to Clean was the most prompt company that got back to my emails/inquiries within a matter of hours or minutes. I had contacted another service, highly rated on Yelp (especially for customer service), but never received a response to my initial inquiry, I decided to email them again after 2 weeks, because of their high rating (I'll write more about that in the appropriate review).

Within a few emails, Maid to Clean confirmed they could clean, gave me actual dates and times of service, included a price quote and answered my questions. I was actually looking forward to using them after all the grief I went through with the other company! This was very straight forward.

When Maid to Clean starts to offer service in our new neighborhood, we won't even bother to look for another provider. I'll re-rate and create a new review after we start the service. We have used Maid To Clean for several years and have appreciated their regular, reliable and attentive service. One of the best things about their service is that we have a regular team who comes to our house and does the cleaning. Overall, our team's work in our home has been fantastic. We've occasionally had issues with some tchotchkes being moved after dusting or with certain areas needing a bit more cleaning; but, on every occasion that we've addressed this, the office staff has worked with us to ensure that future cleanings would meet our standards. We have recommended their services to several friends & colleagues and will continue to do so. More...

I agree with the previous two posts (it appears the 2nd one from Alice M. is now cached). Maid to Clean came to our home, did sloppy service (furniture was disrespectfully strewn about, lamps unplugged, cleaner residue clumped on bath fixtures) and damaged our property (they placed my wife's makeup case on a hot radiator in the middle of winter that melted her lipstick). When we politely complained to them (within the 24-hour satisfaction guarantee period as advertised on their website), they not only refused to honor this guarantee, but they dropped us as clients. Because they charged us for an initial visit at nearly twice the cost of a regular visit (they said this is required) to clean our already near-immaculate (thanks to my wife, of course) home, we wanted to continue working with them to try to "recoup" this charge over a longer-term service period. If we were aware of their cleaning and customer service quality beforehand, we would never have hired them.

To get an idea of how they view their customers, they analogized new clients to job applicants who provide resumes from which that they can choose. Our experience was so bad we had to file a BBB complaint. Only after this action did they offer to refund the cost of our second/last visit (nearly 1/2 the cost of the first premium-priced visit), but on the condition that we remove any and all complaints regarding their company that we have ever made online. We refused this conditional offer because they should ethically honor their 100% satisfaction guarantee policy as advertised on their website, and the truth should not be censored if it helps even one person.

As this is my first Yelp review, I hope to be posting more positive and light-hearted feedback in the near future... Unbelievably bad.

I spoke with a cheerful rep who indicated that, for my 490 sq foot apt, my price range shouldnt be over $120 per biweekly cleaning and slightly higher for the initial cleaning. I was gone the week that they were to start. I returned the following week to an apartment that was not significantly cleaner, had dirty brown fingerprints all over it (including the paper towels and TP left on the rolls), with none of the stainless steel trash cans wiped down, most of the glass furniture uncleaned - and a bill of $250 that had already been charged to my card. They charge $25 an hour. So they say they spent 10 hours cleaning? All they could have done was mop about 20 square feet of floor (bathroom and kitchen are tiny), wipe down two very small counters, and vacuum two very small floors. All of which I left as clean as they were when I returned. In TEN hours?

The note left said that they would call to explain the bill and my estimate for weekly cleaning "within a few days." I returned a week later and had yet to receive any call.

When I called to complain, the same cheery representative (who could not explain how it could possibly have taken the crew 10 hours or why they did such a shoddy job) quickly offered to do the next scheduled cleaning for free and to have a supervisor come out to monitor the job. I was pretty hesitant to accept this offer after the terrible job they had done - my apartment was left worse than before as a result of the last job (particularly the dirty fingerprints left behind) - but I figured I'd give them another chance. Not to mention, I wanted to recoup some of the money they had overcharged me for the first job.

They didn't show up.

When I called to inquire why they hadn't, the same representative told me that they were scheduled for a week later on a different day. I do not recall having discussed this. In our prior call, I recall that all she had said was "your next regularly scheduled cleaning will be free." At this point, I was unwilling to give them another chance. I'd rather eat the money they overcharged me for the first job than to allow them back into my home.

Funny how the 0/1 orangehead army resuscitated their rating right before they claimed their page and started advertising here (not to mention, created seemingly false negative reviews for competitors)......really enhances their reputation for honesty in my eyes. [UPDATE: Kudos to Yelp for removing the spam, despite the fact that this is a sponsor.] More...
