I popped in yesterday for a quick lunch, as I have passed this little grocery a few times recently and was intrigued.This is what I found. ...Specialty grocery items, fresh local, domestic, and international produce, consciously sourced meats, a wine section, and hometown breads - Susan Spicer's, Bellgarde's and they also make their own. There is a good sized selection of pre-packaged but freshly made take home foods that I'm planning on going back for at some point. Yesterday, however, I wanted to take a load off and unwind for a few minutes. You see, they also operate as a restaurant, and have a small seating area inside. I ordered a Mojo Pork Bun and it was phenomenal. The pork was juicy, sweet, and topped with pickled onions and Cole slaw. It was served on what I think was a house made bun that was either grilled or toasted. The bread was every bit as scrumptious as the pork! My only complaint was the price. It was $9 and on the small side. I'd say it was a tiny bit bigger than a slider. I thought that some of the prices on the pre-packaged foods were a somewhat high as well, but I can't say that the prices will keep me from returning. Love this place. I used to live down the street and now I drive 20 minutes out of the way just to grab lunch here. The chicken salad sandwich is by far the best I've ever had, it's pretty unique and always tasty. I've had several other sandwiches on the menu and all of them are great, I just revert back to old reliable if I can't decide on what to get and in no way is that depressing. The market has good produce and a decent selection of alcohol too. I usually just drop in for lunch but every time I come in I end up walking out with a couple of items I didn't plan on getting. Employees are always smiling and courteous. If you're in the area and can't decide on lunch don't sleep on this place as it's tucked away and you wouldn't expect them to throw out great sandwiches if you're just walking by. More...

Super cute market/casual dining spot. They sell tons of locally made products and have the cutest produce happy hour. They also sell a good amount of fresh fruits and veggies as well. I was lucky enough to try their fried chicken sandwich and man did it hit the spot! First it was huge! Secondly, cooked to perfection topped with a spicy pepper slaw. It was a great change from the typical mayo doused slaw we all know. In addition to the food being excellent and reasonably priced, the staff was beyond friendly and welcoming. A total gem! Y'all, I freaking love Simone's. Everything. The sandwiches are off the chain. The seasonal veggie is sweet and salty on their homemade bread. Forget those veggies sammies with 2 or 3 veggies on it, no, this one has lots of different veggies. Amen. The fried chickie sandwich is awesome, the homemade pickles are perfect, the salads are amazing. And don't even get me started on the oat cookie. It's perfect, salty, soft, sweet. I love Simone's market. Somehow even with their somewhat limited selection I find everything that I need. I also love checking out the produce section! I feel like they always have great looking options and even some unique options that you wouldn't otherwise be able to find.I also adore their prepared meals- I got one of their bowls with roasted veggie, a hardboiled egg, some lettuce, and some other goods in there and it was absolutely delish. Quick, healthy, and not too expensive! I love that there is seating, too, and I've enjoyed having lunch here with friends.They've got sandwiches to order, a large selection of gelato, wine and beer, so overall there's a lot of things to bring you into the store. I really love this market. They have a good selection of dairy free, gluten free, vegan options (not that I am any of these but I like options). The produce is fresh and their pre-made foods are amazing! However, I have been disappointed the last couple of weeks...just this week alone I've gone into the store 3 times in search of certain pre-made foods that they make in house. Have been here a few times and always happy with their food. The fried chicken sandwich is really good-it's a crispy chicken thigh that has a deep smoke-flavor to it with a spicy pickled-pepper slaw. They have a few other really cool sandwiches on their menu as well (like the Italian with a basil aoli). Awesome little market! Love their selections...a mixture of organic, healthy, and fresh!They serve some really good tacos! I get the fish or shrimp tacos, and they're always delicious. The medley they put on top has a little kick to it but it's not overbearing. I also go here to load up on my snacks. I particularly love to grab my Yerba Mate, as they have a moderate variety. Super cool atmosphere. I think it is great that they sell locally and regionally grown products. Some of the fresh produce even have labeled which farm the produce came from. Simone's is an example of a small market, with a huge impact.From their amazing sandwiches, which BTW are just amazing, did I mention how amazing they are? I really liked Simone's Market. I recently stayed in a house a short walk away, so a friend and I decided to walk over and check it out. We weren't in the market for anything too specific, we basically just wanted to see what Simone's had to offer and pick up some stuff for breakfast the following morning, with intentions of still hitting up a local farmer's market as well. Simone's had a nice selection of meats, fresh vegetables, wine, liquor, beer, and non-perishable food items. I ended up purchasing some locally made kombucha that I really enjoyed. The shop was a bit expensive, but they were offering lots of local high-quality products, so that's understandable. I only hit this spot up during a weekend trip, but if I lived in the area I doubt I'd do the bulk of my shopping here. Still, it was a nice shop and I would definitely recommend checking it out. I recommend you run to Simone's for their housemade ricotta (made with Progress Dairy) - it is is heart stoppingly pillowy, creamy, decadent and has the purest flavor. Ive been folding it into my omelettes and also eating it on toast with raw honey. They just have so much, including lots of booze and ice cream and ready made roast chicken and soups... "Simone's Market" is more a deli with "abarrotes", than a grocery store. Sort of like a really nice convenience store with a deli. The sandwich and "to-go" items I saw looked pretty good.Stocks include some very good items, imports & domestics. Small selection of good liquors.I bought "Wickles Relish" and real old-time puffed rice cereal, for which I had been searching for some time. Don't recall the other 3 or 4 items I came out with.Plan to go back for one of those sandwiches as soon as we can.Parking is very limited, as this is on Oak Street in the Riversbend / Leonidas section, with many other restaurants & shops of all kinds.
