My wife and I were looking for someone to refinish our fireplace in our master bedroom. We had the gas fire logs converted to fireglass and wanted new stone tile to modernize the look. We called MAC Flooring, visited their showroom, decided on the tile we wanted and their team came ot our home and did a magnificent job of creating the look we wanted. We've used MACFlooring services for both our first and second floors on two different occasions. We used both porcelain plank and laminate plank products and both were installed very well. I'm not usually one to leave reviews, but I had to so everyone can see what a great company this is. From beginning to finish, MAC Flooring was phenomenal. I had the pleasure of working with Andrew and he made sure that all my questions and concerns were met. The team he sent out to do the hard labor were great as well. I always thought getting my floor remodeled would be a headache, but this was not the case. Everything from choosing the flooring to the base boards to floor care was amazing. The Customer Service is impeccable. I came into the store for literally a 3x8 piece of carpet, I felt like they'd either turn me away or brush me off since it was such a small amount, and the exact opposite happened. Bobbi Turrey, a sales rep walked me back to the warehouse to where they had overstock and gave me a roll for free. She took the time to understand my needs and made my small project feel important. We inherited from the previous owner ceramic tile flooring, which we like, but decided that new carpet on the 4 stairwells and 2 landings would be both safer and more comfortable. I usually only get two bids maximum, and we went back to an installer that we had previously used for a guest bedroom, that we were pleased with.We came up with a carpet type/pattern and color we liked, but after I did some extensive measuring, I felt the amount of carpet to order (size) was a little more than necessary. The conversation ended with "I am not making much money on this, and I don't care if I supply this job." Imagine being spoken to like that as a previous customer.I then went to a near our home flooring company, and after being promised a bid, I never received one, even after checking back. One other company produced a bid, but it was costly.I decided to walk into Mac Flooring in Aliso Viejo, after reading many of their Yelp reviews. I met with Bobbi Turrey, and showed her the product that we liked, which was displayed in their showroom. She was very confident in how Mac would use adhesive to apply the carpet over the tile, and I immediately got the impression that they have completed similar projects many times.Bobbi's price was competitive, and I signed a contract so the product could be ordered, and Mac put me on their install calendar via phone about 10 days later.On the install day, Arturo arrived with the carpet to measure, cut, and then take the carpet back to get bindings applied. I told Arturo that I thought the 4 stairwells should have 32" wide carpet runners. But he disagreed (nicely) and informed me that the stairwells should have about the same size tile reveal areas on the right/left sides, and the best way to achieve that is to custom cut each runner to fit that stairwell width. I decided I better listen to Arturo!When Arturo and his crew came back about 2 weeks later, I thought the install would be fairly quick - just layout an approximate 9/10' length runner, and adhere it down. But Arturo said that our steps were not square, and there were even differences in the riser and step lengths from the right to the left side of individual steps. So small carpet lengths were cut to fit each and every riser and step!That custom approach to the installation resulted in a beautiful finished project, (see photos) with many compliments from our guests. The project has indeed turned our steps into a much safer and more comfortable way to move from floor to floor.Our communication with Bobbi, Andrew in scheduling, and obviously Arturo for the professional installation could not have gone better. MAC Flooring has a well-manicured Yelp page and a pretty showroom filled with respectable-looking salespeople wearing smiling faces. But don't be fooled; after you sign the contract, the people who actually do the work are your typical crew who speak no English, and are paid a pittance to blow through your job as quickly as they can so they can move onto the next one. And the customer service turned out to be horrific.We recently had the misfortune of having MAC lay the floor and install baseboards as part of a whole-house remodel. The only good thing that we can say about their work is that the planks were laid straight, which isn't challenging given the layout. Everything else was a disaster. Check out the photos:- The mouldings were laid crooked everywhere. The workers appear to have no idea how to bridge surfaces of different heights. One mitered corner stuck up so high that it could easily have stabbed someone's toes.- The baseboards were installed carelessly, with misaligned pieces and gaps in multiple places.- They left glue smeared all over the floor near the moldings.- The undercutting of the door casing was so ragged that even I could have done a better job.- Where they damaged the planks, or accidentally laid defective planks, they tried to hide the defect by filling the holes with similar-colored caulking.MAC ended up addressing some of these issues, but only after a lot of stress and acrimony.We caught the baseboard problem early during installation and called a halt to it when they were only 1/4 of the way through. Our GC is a skilled carpenter and we wanted him to take over the part of the project. But Andrew, our MAC rep, insisted that they must finish it so they could "warrant the job". The result turned out to be every bit as bad as we had feared. But Andrew, except for one area, insisted that nothing was wrong, that everything could be fixed with caulking, or that they simply do not do detailed work in challenging places. After a bitter argument, Andrew agreed to refund half of the baseboard installation. This wasn't nearly enough to pay our GC, but we paid him the extra necessary to tear everything out and redo the baseboards the proper way. Andrew agreed to replace the damaged planks, but did not admit that they caused the damage, even though the caulking used was of a distinctive beige color that only MAC used in this house.For the mouldings, Andrew initially sent out the workers who did the poor job in the first place to meet with us. These guys insisted that they couldn't do it better--a complete waste of our time. The second time, Andrew sent out a more experienced foreman, who worked with my GC to come up a solution--to be implemented by these very same guys. I took another day off from work to supervise them. As I watched, it was clear that they weren't used to this kind of detail work and were making things up as they went along. The result was acceptable but not great.The troubles weren't over. As soon as the workers left, I discovered that, while removing a piece of moulding for replacement and scraping out the glue, they had chipped a floor tile next to it in two places. At this point, we hesitated: after all this stress, do we really want these guys back and potentially mess up something else? And do we really want to deal with Andrew again?We wavered for a weekend before deciding to call Andrew about this. But he refused to accept responsibility because it's been too long to know who did it, even though no one had been in the house since they left, and wanted to charge me for replacing the tile. Well, if we had to pay someone, we'd rather pay the original tiler to do it, which is what we ended up doing.By then, we really wanted to leave a bad review for MAC Flooring. But we held back for one reason: their one-year warranty. Surely if something else went wrong with the floor, we'd want to stay on good terms with MAC so they'd be more willing to fix the issue?Unfortunately, we were soon forced to test their warranty. Right after the floor was done, it was immediately covered with ram boards to protect it while other work was carried out. Therefore, we didn't have an opportunity to examine every plank. The ram boards were removed right before we moved in a few weeks later. As we started detail-cleaning the floor, we discovered yet another plank with a big piece gouged out of it. This hole was disguised with the same caulking used to cover the previous damaged area!We called Andrew to claim the warranty. But he once again refused to accept responsibility and would only repair if we paid for it. He said that he found it suspicious that we kept finding problems.In conclusion, don't be fooled by MAC's five-start rating. They do shoddy work. They are dishonest and do not stand behind their product. For quality flooring and sympathetic customer service, look elsewhere! More...

A PLUS PLUS PLUS all the way! I cannot say enough GREAT things about MAC flooring from start to finish. We had 2300 sq ft of tile and carpet that we wanted to change to engineered hardwood. First, their showroom is great! They have sooo many options and let me borrow some samples to help narrow it down. I was in their showroom a few times for over an hour every time, and never did I feel any pressure! Chris was my sales rep and he is awesome!!! He helped me choose my flooring, came to my house and gave me great discussions about my transition areas and brought up questions for me that none of the other 3 companies I got quoted with asked. He is kind, patient, thorough, and knows what he's talking about! They're also fairly priced, and I compared to 3 other reputable companies! Andrew was my install project manager and he was equally as great! He is so friendly and made sure to answer any questions and ensure the install was above my expectations. Now the most important part... the install was SEAMLESS. I got soooo lucky to have Selvin and Donald's crew!!! They definitely knew what they were doing! For demo, they took care of my belongings and covered everything neatly. They moved my furniture where I asked them to, and put new felt pads on them when they were done too. They were so professional, always came on time, very kind, and put down cardboard and plastic to protect the floors while working. They always tidied up at the end of the day too. During install, I couldn't believe that it went perfectly. I only had one "issue" being that I didn't like the texture of one of the planks they put down (which has nothing to do with install, but the wood itself), but they fixed it perfectly!!! I was nervous it wouldn't look good after taking it out (it was glued) and putting a new one back in its place, but you couldn't tell one bit! They cleaned everything up when the install was over and put everything back in its place. We searched 3 weeks for the best team. It was love at first sight, even met the wonderful owner. Very sincere group with best pricing we found and best selection. They have their own expert long-time employees so everything is done by them, no outside contractors. The most thorough inspection- spotted all the challenges, communicated multiple solutions and helped us make informed decisions. Like laying luxury vinyl plank (local LA supplier not cross country) over our tile rather than remove it. But elsewhere they removed old plank and built-up the floor to match the tile level. We had our entire house done, carpet upstairs and LVP downstairs. I mean it when I say they went the extra mile at every turn. At least 10 times something above the call of duty was done or offered. They really anticipated everything. The quality was 6/5 stars and they were so fast. I'd be on a conference call pop my head out all furniture was moved out (didn't even hear them!), I'd look again and the floor was prepared, next thing I'm walking on my new floor. Crazy fast. We are so happy. They have even come back with courteous follow ups twice too, they are invested. I can wholeheartedly recommend this company and it's superior team with my highest recommendation! We got our home completely re-floored this summer, and we chose MAC flooring based on some good feedback I had seen. My sales rep (Alex) was patient and easy to work with. It took my husband about a month to finally agree on the flooring we wanted, and during that time I did not feel pressured to make a decision. Once the work started the team was great. Andrew was our project manager, and he was amazing. The crew was really careful and paid great attention to detail. We hit a few snags, like possible slab leaks and the whole house needed leveling, but these were potential issues I was told about by the company in advance, so it was not a total surprise. In hindsight, I am glad we had to level the upstairs because it makes the house feel solid when we walk upstairs. The project took a bit longer than originally estimated because of all the leveling, but that was not an issue for us. The results are incredible. MAC Flooring did the initial tile installation of our kitchen floor with gorgeous Italian tile we purchased there. Unfortunately I dropped a heavy metal object on the floor which made a large crack in 1 tile. Even though they were very busy they replaced the tile in a reasonable time. Melissa at Mac flooring was a perfect representative; very patient, thorough, and attentive without being at all pushy. She even dropped off a second batch of samples when I second guessed myself on color selection for our carpet. She reasoned through the dilemma with me and we ultimately went with the original choice. The result is absolutely perfect with the style and colors in our house, as well as considering the right material for our dogs. The carpet came in right on time, but we had to delay installation because my husband was working on the baseboards; Mac Flooring was very patient with our delay and stored our carpet until we were ready. In general, it was a very good experience with Mac Flooring, although there were a couple of bumps. The sales experience, including show room, proposal preparation and offer were excellent. I was blindsided by an $8-per-ft2 cost of sub-floor leveling, which I had not anticipated or was warned of. In MAC's defense, they did state in their proposal that they were NOT responsible for sub-floor issues, but I later learned that practically everyone has a sub-flooring issue, when installing hardwood or laminate flooring. However, the laminate flooring looks great. Installers did a VERY good job.There was some rework which Mac heartedly agreed to perform on stairway carpeting. I would contract with Mac Flooring again.
