cook was awesome and he gave me some spices to tae back home. but the waitress we had was INSANE SLOW. AWFUL, took her and hour just to even get our checks. and when we were ready we all looked at her and she would walk away. Great breakfast spot with a home-cooked feel. I had the chicken and waffles, while my partner had the Lil Momma plate with hot sausage, grits, eggs and toast. If your girlfriend's on her period and is somewhere between hormonal rage and random crying, take her to Mama's. This is the best place to go if you're having a bad day and need someone to make you smile. Their chocolate waffles are AMAZING, and from what I've heard, so is everything else on the menu. Seems like a little hole-in-the-wall but it is so worth the trip! The day that I was there they ran out of chicken wings and gave me the last two in the building! I was overly impressed by their hospitality and more than that by their food! I had the chicken strips and waffles and was amazed! The chicken was crispy and seasoned to perfection! The waffle was like and fluffy and delicious just like it ought to be. What inspired you to start your own business?
The inspiration for Ma Momma’s House of Cornbread, Chicken and Waffles came from a combination of two mothers and a grandmother of the dynamic owners, Earl and Nicole Mackie and Rene Guzman. There mothers and grand mothers all loved to cook, and when Earl and Nicole first got married, Earl's mom literally fed the two everyday. “The food was simply amazing, so I feel like I didn’t miss anything going from my mother’s kitchen to my mother-in-law’s kitchen,” explains Nicole.
Another inspiration for Ma Momma’s House of Cornbread, Chicken and Waffles is to be a resource for New Orleans East as well as a place for locals and visitors to come and enjoy a great meal with that home cooked appeal.
