I've just joined, but I've been going to gyms long enough that I know what I like and don't. The layout is organized fairly well with the free weights, machines, and cardio separated. My only grip so far is they don't have any extra barbells. I've gone to the bench press with no barbell in sight and no extra one to place on it, basically making the equipment unusable. If you want to do any other exercise with just a barbell (complexes, hip thrusts, etc.) there's no way to do it. There's also zero collars to be found any where. I like that all the squat racks come with platforms, there's 4 of them. The locker rooms are nice enough, no huge complaints there. I've used the shower a few times and haven't had any issues. My favorite piece of equipment is the weighted reverse hyper, I haven't found any other commercial gym to have one. I dislike that I have to reconnect to the wi-fi every 24 hours via some page on the mobile browser. Signing up was easy enough and I don't feel like I was persuaded to do one or the other, month to month fits my lifestyle at them moment. Pretty much all of the Gold's further north are corporate so you can go to any of them, however, anything further south (woodbridge, etc) are part of franchises and you are not able to go to as part of your membership. Although I didn't sign up for the 12mo membership, I did learn that it will cost you $100 to cancel prior to the end of the terms unless you can prove our 50 (YES 50!!!) miles outside of a Golds. That's a bit ridiculous and clearly a way for corporate to discourage any one from canceling prior to the end of the term. The trial pass I rec'd was only valid for 3 consecutive days; I feel like they should at least be 7 days to get a full idea of what you're working with. Some members are courteous and wipe down pieces after use, but most don't. They seem friendly enough though I haven't interacted with too many. There's a lot of men in there, I don't see too many females strength training. The trainers are really hard to pinpoint b/c they wear basically plain t-shirts. I'm not sure if they're not big on personal training, but there's 1-2 on the floor at 6pm whereas I'm used to seeing 10+ trainers working with clients during peak times. Thought that was interesting. I was a refugee from the Gold's in Leesburg when it shut down last July.  After checking out several area gyms I decided to join.  One of the things my girlfriend and I really loved about the Leesburg location was the group exercise classes and the instructors, fortunately some of those instructors transferred to Ashburn.  The classes are very energetic and we are enjoying them.  The clientele on the gym floor is very different from Leesburg where there were mostly older guys my age that spent more time chatting then working out.  The dudes here are hard core and BIG.  I was a bit intimidated at first but I have to say that everyone I've encountered has been friendly and helpful.  The place is usually pretty busy but if you have a little patience it's never a problem getting to the machine or area you want to work in.  So far I give Gold's Ashburn a thumbs up. I love working out at this location. It is large and has plenty of equipment. It doesn't get too crowded. I never have to wait for a machine. The clientele is nice. The staff is super friendly. I think I've been coming here for about 7 or 8 years now and even became a personal trainer for almost 2 years at a different location. I've had lifetime fitness, la fitness, youfit and they're all dirty and full of kids screaming all the time. Customer service changes from time to time but the quality of this gym and the equipment if you're to base it on cleanliness, layout of machines, rooms, storage. Management and ownership I would rate as a 9 out of 10 because of how the rest of the staff is somewhat not very friendly someone always looks mad. It's a customer service business it can always be better. I have worked with Nick always great even from 5 years ago, Toya always great/friendly and I have brought people to this gym and continue to recommend it, because it's better than the other gyms quality as far as machines, free weights, cardio equipment, class instructors here are great and top notch. As far as memberships and pt cancellations go, I believe that's more corporate and hard to control that definitely a 6 out of 10 but many times it's hard to control that. I've only been a member here for a few weeks. I just moved back to VA and have missed the classes in the gym. I heard really negative things about this location more so that it was ghetto. My family have been members of Gold's Gym for a number of years and I have to say that this gym just keeps getting better!   They have the latest equipment. The staff is friendly and very helpful. They have a variety of classes with very inspiring instructors.  The trainers are all approachable. I love the free coffee in the morning, the juice bar and all the updated changes.  It is very clean and well lit. They play great music and have strong wifi!
