TLDR: I have to thank Kathryn Gubista for really helping my Doberman Shepherd become "the best dog ever." Longer story: Gunnar came into my life after being brought in as a stray to the South San Diego animal shelter. He is very sweet and smart, but after taking him home his aggression issues became worse and worse, to the point where the mailwoman wouldn't deliver mail anymore and walking him was so stressful that I regretted adopting him. I spent close to $2000 taking him to classes (but had to stop classes because he was aggressive) and private trainers over the course of 4 months to get him socialized. While Gunnar improved significantly, he would still occasionally bark at other dogs or get into fights at the dog park, or nip at people who got too close. After I moved to the Asheville area about 6 months ago, all of his aggressive behaviors came back with a vengeance. He started lunging at other dogs on the street, pulling me off my feet a few times. He nipped at people coming to visit. He started getting into more fights at the dog park and we had to stop going. He was no longer allowed outside off leash because he would take off and chase the neighbor's cat and didn't come when called. I was afraid to put him into daycare despite working long hours, leading to more anxious behavior due to lack of stimulation and exercise. Kathryn is Gunnar's FOURTH professional trainer...and the only one who has truly inspired my confidence in my dog. I did Kathryn's Board & Train program, and he is a whole new dog. His leash skills are amazing, and he will now sit quietly with 20 other dogs around him during obedience class. He can play fetch in my unfenced yard. Today we went back to the dog park for the first time in 3 months. He tried to mount the first male dog he met but stopped after I said "Off." Two more dogs arrived. He came (away from the gate) when I said "Come." He Sat and Waited patiently for the newcomers to get inside the park, and only went to play when I Freed him. He ran and played for 20 minutes without a single incident. Everyone comments on how well behaved he is. I'm so proud of my good boy! Kathryn is worth every penny! More...

Kathryn helped us tremendously with our rescue dog. We had no experience with owning a dog and her training sessions taught him to obey commands, walk with us while on a leash, and this was done with positive reinforcement. Kathryn also gave much information in nutrition since our dog has many allergies and skin issues. I highly recommend Lucky Dog Training sessions to make it even more enjoyable to own and love your dog! More...
