Loft 26 is a beautiful, cozy salon easily accessible in Midtown. I see Carol and she is amazing! I am extremely particular about my hair and have seen many hairstylists over the years who ultimately didn't listen to what I wanted. Once I found Carol, all that changed! From day one, she just got the look I wanted and I've never been disappointed. She knows exactly what I want and expect my hair to look like and it's always perfect! She's easily accommodating and even did my hair and make up for my wedding - I didn't know she did make up but she does and it was flawless! I never have to wait and on the rare occasion that she's behind, she gives me heads up before coming in which is much appreciated. Hair stylist and makeup artist, Carol Bowden, has now set up shop in Loft 26, but I've been going to her for over 12 years, and happily followed her to her new digs. When you find someone with a gift for hair color like Carol has, you stick with her. She is responsible for my now famous coppery locks, which receive complements every day. She knows what color suits you, as though you were born to it. On my first appointment with her, she took one look at my skin tone, and suggested a change in hair color. I was smart enough to trust her. The result was phenomenal: my entire complexion glowed. Her cuts are equally flattering and always hold their shape as they grow out, sometimes improving as time passes. I have friends who pay twice the amount for cut and color, and still they complain about the result. Why? I moved to NYC a little over a year ago and had trouble finding a colorist and stylist that were not outrageously expensive and/or good. Problem solved! Emily and Loren are outstanding! I've been seeing Devon Nola for over 2 years now for hair extensions with styling/cut and she is amazing. My biggest fears used to be having my hair all chopped off or sitting for hours with awkward small talk and awkward pauses/silences. Devon is very easy to talk to and sit with and she wont butcher your hair. :) Plus she does an AMAZING job with matching the extensions with your hair color, placing, and blending them. I came to Loft 26 after my hair had become severely damaged.My colorist Loren not only gave my hair a beautiful color but she took into consideration the integrity of my hair. Love the Loft and all it's staff!  I'm so glad I found a hair haven in NYC.  All the staff is friendly, the atmosphere is great, and everyone walks out gorgeous. It's been almost 2 years that I regularly go to Kayleen for Pravana straightening, and Leo for hair color. They are both magicians at what they do.- Always available and so accommodating when I text them for an appt. - Both so professional and knowledgable.- Super patient, even when i'm ridiculously indecisive about what treatment to do.  - Fun and friendly, I look forward to seeing them and catching up.The Pravana with Kayleen has come out great every time, and it's nice to have a more natural solution to the Keratin. You can't smell any chemical sent like with the Keratin.My hair color with Leo has always been amazing! It comes out the most gorgeous brown, with shine, and complements for the next few months.  He even suggested I go a little brown-red...which I was hesitant about at first, but I knew he works magic, and was so glad I tried.  He was right, and the color was great. I can't attest for the hair services, but only for the eyelash perms I've gotten there many times.  Gigi has relocated to this Salon and has a back room there.  I've been going to Gigi for several years now starting from when she was with Lavilash. She is phenomenal and knows her craft. The solution she uses for my eyelashes is gentle, but my eyelashes stay curled for at least a month. As a note, my eyelashes grow quickly so I get them redone more frequently than the normal person, but most people should only need to get them done about every 6-8 weeks. For the last couple of years, I've been trying to get the bleach out of my hair & back to my natural color. After a couple of bad salon experiences, I decided to try Loft 26- GAME CHANGER! Tried this place out for the first time.......AMAZING!!!! ABSOLUTELY couldn't be HAPPIER! This is the first time I've ever felt compelled to write about an experience at a salon because Angela at Loft 26 Salon was incredible. The salon itself has a super trendy vibe with a comfy and lovely ambiance. Angela is an incredibly talented and almost organic hairstylist.  I went to her to chop my hair about 6 inches. I showed her pictures and she counseled me through what would be the best suited hair cut for me. She really  gave me a haircut that makes me feel confident and shine!  She listened to my needs AND gave me her professional eye that brought the BEST hairstyle out of my type of sometimes-unmanageable-curly hair. An NYC first for me: Going to the same colorist more than once or twice. I just booked my fourth appointment with Loren. Somehow, my hair has actually been growing since I've been seeing her - geez I've only been trying to grow it out for 6 or 7 years. Maybe she's not frying my hair like all of the others were?!? My hair is blonder than it's ever been (was scared to go too blonde before because of damage) and somehow healthier than it's ever been as well. Maybe it's the organic hair color? Maybe it's Loren's precise methods? She doesn't pull the color to the bottom of your hair unless it needs it and also painstakingly follows her previous pattern of weaving. Added bonus - the appointment only takes around 1.5-2 hours for my long(er now!) hair. I've been through some whopping 3-4 hour appointments. UGH!And by the way, blowouts are included in the color service. WORD!!!(Never heard of paying extra for blowouts until I moved here. What a ripoff!)Anyway, GO SEE LOREN FOR COLOR!!!!!! More...

Lifebooker appointment attempt number two...Enter Loft 26. A $150 Keratin treatment during lunchtime (1:30) on a Tuesday? Sure ! That works...I made the appointment at 9:30am but got a call at noon informing me they'd scheduled someone for the time I reserved on the site. They were able to squeeze me in at 4:15 the same day so I took it. Inconvenience? Slight, yes, but not a total disappointment.  The treatment itself was great...Only 90min and included shampoo, blow dry, keratin application, sit/soak-in time, blow dry, and flatiron. Loft 26 is true to its name.  The salon is in a beautiful airy loft space that, even on Saturdays when it's really busy, still feels very spacious.  I've been going to the salon for a few years now and have always found the staff friendly and professional.  Also, this may seem like a minor detail but the hair washing sinks are amazing.  They are designed to completely support your head so you don't strain your neck during the wash.I followed my stylist Noelle here from her previous salon.  Noelle was recommended to me by a friend as a great stylist for curly hair.  I haven't been disappointed!  About a year ago I was ready for a change and Noelle suggested a short style.  She took my lifestyle into consideration (I wanted something quick and low maintenance) and gave me a cut that looks great with very little effort on my part.  She's the first stylist I've had who I felt took not only my hair but my personality into consideration when cutting my hair. The atmosphere and decor of the place is exceptional. Got a Lifebooker deal for hair extensions. I only get them done once a year, and the great thing about it is not a lot of people know. Usually coworkers would say "Your hair looks different...how did you get it to grow so fast " Originally I had a 5pm appointment, but I called ahead of time to see if they can possibly squeeze me in an hour earlier since I had prior engagements with a friend. My stylist Kayleen said it was alright, and as soon as I got there, she washed my hair and went straight to work. The whole process took 2.5 hours, but it went by quickly. She even included an extra track which was really nice of her. Since I have thinning hair, she told me about the phyto supplements she's been taking which worked really well for her. Although the salon did sell the products, she didn't pressure me at all to buy them. My only gripe was that prior to doing my hair, the needle for sewing the hair piece broke, and Kayleen had to run off to the store for 15 minutes to get a replacement. Not that I minded the waiting so much, but the salon should have an extra one handy just in case! Overall, I had a good experience though. After the blow dry and style, I looked like I was getting ready for prom! It was a grade A job. If you ever need extensions, Kayleen's your girl! This is a great salon and I loved my stylist John Gerard! The moment he touched my hair, he said that he needed to cut it dry. He knew exactly what he was talking about - always confident, but also sensitive to my requests. (Kind of like the ideal boyfriend, eh?) I trusted him, and the result was great. I have been here several times now for the keratin hair treatment, and have always been very happy with the service and the treatment. Kaileen who does my treatments is great - friendly and professional.  The salon itself is a large loft like space and is really nice and clean, and zen like.I originally bought the treatment thru Groupon, and have been going back since without any groupons or deals.  They only do the keratin treatment certain days of the week, and can book up quickly specially in the summer, but if you schedule in advance, it works great. I got a Groupon for Phyto hair treatment and had a great experience with John. The treatment took around an hour and my hair looked, felt, and smelled great afterwards and stayed that way for the next two days. I love Phyto and use all their hair products, and was happy to buy John's recommended products. I liked the salon as well. It was a no-frills place which is fine by me. John was good company too. Their shampoo stations are great and the girl shampooing gave me a good massage. I do wish I had purchased more Groupons!! I have had such a bad experience booking appointments at other places using a Groupon that I bought just one.The only flip side was the original price of the treatment which I didn't have to pay since I got a Groupon. The website says treatments are "$130 and up", the one I got had original price $175. I have done hair treatments elsewhere and for that price they include a hair massage - this one did not include much massage, so I did think it is pricey. More...
