Once upon a time, in the enchanting seaside town of Oceanside, CA, the Local Tap House (affectionately dubbed LTH) emerged as the culinary Van Gogh, painting delectable art onto our dinner plates. The moment I stepped in, I knew I was signing up for more than just a meal. It's a belly-filling, soul-warming journey of discovery, with each dish served as a thrilling chapter. I'm not one for restraint, especially when it comes to LTH's menu - a vibrant rainbow of flavors with each dish more tantalizing than the last. I tend to over-order, but hey, isn't sharing the essence of enjoying food? It's a culinary paradox, though: you'd want to share but once you sink your teeth into their crispy, delicately seasoned cauliflower or that heavenly French Dip, forget about sharing. Sorry, companions, get your own. Service at LTH is much like a well-choreographed ballet, seamless and gracious. Smiling faces, quick refills, timely food arrivals - it's hospitality at its finest. Their drink selection? It's the liquid counterpart to their food, equally diverse and fantastic. A haven for beer lovers, it's like wandering into the Hogwarts of hops. As for my favorite items? Ah, the cauliflower and French Dip, which have secured their spots in my Food Hall of Fame. An honorable mention for the crab and lobster ceviche that used to grace the menu, your memory lives on, old friend. The new contender, Tuna Crudo, is good, but I find myself in a love-hate relationship with the size of the tuna chunks. A bit too chunky for my delicate palate. No offense, Tuna, it's not you, it's me. Yes, there's a wait list, as there should be for such a foodie paradise. I find solace at the bar, my own little haven amidst the bustle. And they always have the games on, making LTH a playground for both foodies and sports fans alike. My partner, Ivan, and I have adopted LTH as our Friday night culinary retreat. With each visit, our love for this place grows, much like the waistline of my pants. But who's complaining? Not me, certainly. If loving LTH is wrong, I don't want to be right. Took over an hour to get my food. This place is chill but the wait plus no parking... yeah, I definitely can't recommend it. Then the lamp chops are tiny.. seriously, no real restaurant would let them get through the pass to the table.. can't recommend it for food but can for drinks.. if you can wait 20 minutes for shots.. There appeared to be a long line to get in on a Sunday afternoon but we got in within 15 minutes. Food and beers were great, both options and in quality. It was a little noisy to talk with friends but fine. Wow....that was an awesome meal!! A lot of places were packed today due to Fathers Day but we walked in here and got seated right away. There were 5 of us in our party and all 5 dishes were perfect! This place is FIRE! The food is good. Very good. Delicious. "They know what they're doing" . So good, that it's hard to find a table right away, but it's worth the wait. Went here for the first time this week for my girlfriends birthday and it did not disappoint! Per Yelp, the rotating flavor of deviled eggs are a must try & agree that these were some of the best deviled eggs I've had at a restaurant. Very cute place to eat. Service was mediocre at best. I ordered the fish and chips and first off, it's 18 flipping dollars for ONE piece of fish, some fries, and literal dry cabbage that they call "coleslaw". Yeah right. The fish they served was the blandest piece of fish I have ever had. Not even the lemon or malt mayo could make up for the lack of flavor. My friend and I each ordered a Juneshine beer and they didn't have the one on the menu in stock so they brought us a different flavor. My friend let our waitress know she did not like it and all she did was laugh and walk off. She returned with the check and charged us for the $10 drink we didn't want. The restaurant, service and food are very good. The snapper fish and chips including the green underneath is tasty. I'd expected Red Snapper. The cauliflower kung pao is a very good take on Chinese flavor with a bit of sweet. It's a meal though it's on the snack section. The coffee which they made for me is very good. Place is nice and has outdoor seating. Got the seafood pot and the flavor was off the charts . Was a bit disappointed with the scallop being overcooked and very chewy. Came here for lunch because I was looking for somewhere that had good food. When I arrived, I sat at the bar because inside seemed full and it was too cold to sit outside. Jazmin was our server and she provided great customer service and even recommended some items on the menu covering apps and main entrees. She was very attentive towards us despite having a full bar. Absolutely loved this place. The menu is really interesting and the food is well executed. The Brussels Sprouts had a lot of flavor. The pretzel with Gouda gravy was pretty good although we didn't taste any truffle. Salads were also really good. This place is DELICIOUS!! If you haven't gone here, GO! We had 10 people and a baby and we were in and out. The staff was super friendly and everything came out fast. We got a few drinks per person and it came out to about $500. Not bad for 10 people. We got the empanadas, pulled pork fries, the pretzel and the hummus for apps and they were all so good. This place was recommended by some locals that we met at the RV Park we are staying at. We went at about 4pm on a Sunday and got right in. We chose the outside seating in the covered area next to the parking lot. It was cozy and they had heaters on low. We started with an Old Timer (old fashioned) and a Skinny Girlfriend. They were both pretty good. No prices in the menu for cocktails but they were $12 each. We had the chicken empeñadas to start. These were great! No overcooked and had a great flavor with the elote. The Dirtier Bird chicken sandwich was pretty good. The pimento cheese really added a great flavor to the entire sandwich. The chicken was juicy and cooked well. The grilled cheese was also very good. A little drippy so have an extra napkin. But the pulled pork was good and mixed with the cheese and bread it was awesome!The fries. First, they had a sort of spicy/sweet flavor. Love this place! Always upbeat and friendly. Even though I live in Irvine I am in Oceanside quite often due to real estate and the California Surf Museum. Plus my wife and I enjoy walking on the beach, the boardwalk, and the pier. Their food here is phenomenal! I usually have a salad, but today I thought I would try the short rib beef dip sandwich. My mom and I went on vacation to Oceanside recently and I stumbled across LTH in my restaurant research and it was so delicious we went 4 out of the 5 nights we were there. The people were super nice and welcoming and the drinks were delicious! My go to was the gin and juice which was perfectly made every night. We tried the deviled eggs of the day every day and some were out of this world and some were just okay. The chicken pot pie is a must get as well as the calamari and shishito peppers! One of my hands down favorite spots in Oside. I recently got to join the lovely Eric from Flagstaff and his two minis for lunch and even though I had to had mid meal due to a family emergency, the mouthfuls I got made me want to update the review I ASSUMED I had written after my first few visits (of many). ...but gasp! No review existed so here it is, the five stars LTH earned from me yesterday, today and forever.Okay so Short Rib Fries. Thats where you must begin and it's a heavy decadent encounter so its best to share or you might not make it further into the menu. it's the kind of dish you think about after and go back for again and again. The salads get thumbs up from me and the deviled eggs change in flavor so ask what the special one is this week when you stop in. Lovely beer list, friendly and attentive staff, a local win all around. There is a leeeeetle bit o'parking on site, but street parking in this area is generally easy to find. Located off the beautiful high101, LTH offers rustic, elevated takes on classic, hearty pub fare. My wife and I shared the short rib breakfast hash -- plenty for two people. The friendly and accommodating staff made the experience even better! Some room for improvement might be to include a wider variety of espresso beverages. I have not updated my review for sometime although I've eaten here several times since my last review. We came two weeks ago on a busy Saturday for lunch. We had about a 20 minute wait and were seated outside. With the ocean breeze it is always chilly outside even with sunshine. We came prepared with sweaters but it was still chilly so bring a jacket if you're prone to cold.Or ask your waitress to turn on the patio heater. We started with cocktails. They are never a disappointment here. They are specialists at specialty cocktails but they are expensive. It's a nice way to treat yourself. You won't find food like this in many restaurants around here. The menu is innovative and artfully detailed. I have my favorites one being the strawberry goat cheese salad with Salmon. I also recommend the chorizo egg rolls, DELICIOUS. This visit though I wanted to try something new. I ordered the chorizo burger which I saw served at another table. It looked so good I had to give it a try. It is a blend of ground beef and chorizo with a fried egg on top. It is served with seasoned fries. The burger was delicious and the fries are addicting with that seasoning. This visit we did have a wait before our food got to our table but it wasn't too bad.
