The staff today was super-helpful, even thought it was farmer's market time the DAY BEFORE Father's Day and they were busy. I approached the counter and a gentleman asked if he could help. I mentioned that I might have to come back to get something, and he gave me the pro-tip that I should have them save my selection behind the counter, because it might not be available when I'm able to make it back. Sarah helped me pick out a few steaks, which was great because I don't know a lot about meat, and I was buying steaks for a super-foodie. She even went ABOVE AND BEYOND to prevent me from having to make another trip out and deal with farmer's market parking. Major shout-out to Sarah, and a special thank you for doing me a solid. Oh man, I’ve been looking for a pork sandwich like this all over KC. I had the Pigwich, and what they do instead of making the pulled pork they make it into a party. The patty consist of pulled pork and bacon. Once I heard the bacon part I was hooked. It’s the perfect combo of pork, slaw, and sauce. The new space in the River Market is phenomenal! Lots of seating, a much bigger menu at Pigwich, fountain beverages with free refills, a huge selection of canned adult beverages and that same great butcher shop smell! I had the pork tenderloin with buffalo sauce and an order of sweet potato fries...huge portions and so tasty! The only thing I miss is being able to see and visit with the butchers break down meat (they do this downstairs now). This place is very well thought out with environmentally friendly features and an open kitchen. Great job on the new place Matt and Alex!!! More...

I know an AMAZING Butcher who was recently rehired @ Anton's post a life threatening medical surgery and recovery. Cutting meat and serving others is a passion for him so needless to say, this was a very exciting opportunity to showcase his skills while working in such a fine establishment. I had the opportunity to see him doing what he loves best on Friday 09/21/18 & Saturday 09/22/18. Both days he was the ONLY meat cutter and we all know how busy fine dining can be on those particular days. This amazing guy not only stayed on top of every single in-house order as well as counter orders and literally enjoyed every minute of it! The Butcher had a day off on Sunday 09/23/18 and was happily planning to get back to what he loves on Monday 09/24/18. Unfortunately, he received a call from a manager that morning "firing him". I witnessed a very proud man's heart break before my eyes... I am aware employers are protected due to the"at will" laws but, just out of common decency, please explain why ... More...

FIRST LETS TALK PIGWICH! I love the tenderloin sandwich. Unfortunately yesterday I had the meatloaf sandwich. Ugly! It was dried out and had the consistency of jerky. I complained to the guy and he just went on about how much he loved his cuz he had it for lunch and loved it. Sorry pally that meatloaf was old and nasty. A refund would have been nice but not offered. LET'S TALK ABOUT THE BUTCHER SHOP. LOVE LOVE LOVE it. They have a Denver cut steak. It's a little bit lower in the loin so it does not have that layer of fat on the edge. I cook my Denver cut in a cast iron pan with butter after I get my sear on. It comes out real nice.
