What makes a great website?
I do not believe in cookie-cutter solutions to Web design. Every client comes to me with different goals, parameters, and priorities. I cultivate a dialogue with my clients that helps me deliver a site that meets their needs. I solicit feedback along the way and believe in transparent and clear communication.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
The three questions which are essential to answer for each project are the timeframe, primary goals, and budget. These decisions made around these parameters guide every step of the process.
Describe your creative process.
Kickoff starts conversation about practical requirements (like deadlines or budget) and subjective preferences (like palette, style, and message). I use this information to craft a proposal unique to each client. Next step is setting up a project management site on Basecamp to manage conversations and materials. I have a checklist of assets I need for each step in the process and I develop a calendar with deadlines for major site benchmarks. Built into my process is ample time to review each step of the project, so we keep it on track. I track all of my time and share it with my client for billing. (Always letting them know if we veer out of scope.)
