Diane and Charles designed a beautiful new home for my children and me. They were with me from start to finish. They listened carefully to my needs and concerns and were very patient with me even when I changed my mind often. Not only did they design my house they were also very involved with the construction phase. They guided me through numerous decisions including the layout and cabinet choices of my kitchen. They were very attentive and always quick to respond to my emails and phone calls. Diane Lim's professionalism and approach to understanding our goals were apparent immediately at very first meeting. We wanted to preserve the character of our 140+ year old home while updating features and adding functionality. Her experience and deep knowledge base proved invaluable for our major renovation project. She made design suggestions and coached us through the options available to us. She worked with incredible efficiency and kept on budget and on time. As the project evolved and work commenced, she worked closely with our contractor to ensure that the overarching goals of the extensive renovation were always on track. What continues to amaze me is the attention to detail in her design that make our home such a pleasure to live in. She has a mastery of function and flow . Diane was responsive, timely and a pleasure to work with. She followed through with us until the final punch list item was closed. Diane is creative, thoughtful and very easy to work with. She has a great sense for aesthetics while remaining very practical in all of her designs. Diane comes up with great ideas and is really able to visualize great uses for space. She is also very responsive and can work on a tight time table. Diane is an extraordinary architect, and I would recommend her without reservation for any high-end residential or retail project
Our project (as well as several other residential and retail projects of hers we have seen firsthand) are functional, thoughtfull, well-balanced, stunningly beautiful and of excellent quality. Our project was also completed within budget and on time, due in no small part to Diane's contribution to the pace and scope of work, as well as to her ability to keep the entire team (myself included) focused and on cue.
We hired Diane to take on a full renovation (down to the studs) on one of my offices. Our experience was so positive, that we subsequently retained her to help us sensitively update our own midcentury modern residence.

I have worked with Diane on many projects but most recently and notable - the build out of my fashion studio (January 2010) and retail store (November 2011) on Newbury Street.
Diane is, in my opinion, the best architect in town! Not only is she a joy to work with but she is amazingly talented, down-to-earth, and in every detail. She surrounds herself with great people, and the work shows.
She is extremely creative, and works within a budget. She has an incredible eye and truly is an expert in executing my crazy visions!!
I can not say enough how much I love Diane. I recommend her to everyone I know!

We have employed Lim Design Studios to decorate our kids room last year as well as redesign our living room. In both instances three elements of client-architect relations that stands our for my husband and myself are:
1) Diane paid close attention to our needs both with regards to space (living in an urban setting, in a historic district, with quirky spaces) and our personal taste for design. Diane provided us with creative design and architectural features that would enhance our space visually and not compromise on the practical usability given a family of two kids whose needs would keep evolving.
2) Diane remained flexible and provided multiple, practical (yet tasteful to our design sense) solutions, as our awareness of what we needed, versus what we could have within our space evolved.
3) Diane remained responsive and encouraged us to think practically, cost-effectively and focus on our own time constraints to get the work done and helped us finish and enjoy the space after.
As a result, we are now working with her again on two other projects one commercial (my husband's offices) and another residential (a vacation property).

Diane Lim brought fresh, creative, thoughtful design skills to a tricky remodeling project that involved joining two very different condos in a Back Bay building into one unit. We had worked with her once before on a kitchen remodeling project, which turned out great! She knew our style, which is why we went back to her for this most recent project. Throughout both projects, she was highly professional, knowledgeable, and on-time with her work.
