Excellent historical experience. Superb tour and knowledgeable staff.
It was excellent and the presentation at the museum blew my mind. There was so much history involved at this site.
Very informative. A lot of knowledge gained about free people of color and slaves in New Orleans.Made me contrast with the black experience here in Chicago.
Very insightful. Schools should bring students here to see their history; because they do not know this history and African American children need to know this history; if they knew this I believe their behaviors toward each other would change. More...
These cupcakes should be against the law!!!!! I’m a certified cupcake eater and these were absolutely amazing! I’ve never tasted anything so unique. I wonder if they ship!!!

I not only enjoyed my jumbo strawberry cupcake, but was greeted with a warm smile and wonderful conversation. These two young ladies are awesome. Thank you Cupcake Fairies.
Stopped by the museum today without an appointment (they do very small group tours by scheduled appointments), and was fortunate able to get fit in since they were under capacity for the tour. I learned a lot more than what I already knew. The tour guide, Kim, is both funny and informative. The paintings and photographs displayed are beautiful, and there's nuggets of historical documents and information nicely displayed. Additionally, the house and the grounds are beautifully maintained. I'd highly recommend going if you'd like to learn more about local history, especially since the city is undergoing a lot of demographic and cultural changes. More...

Wonderful tour, docents very knowledgeable and shared personal anecdotes that made tour more intimate.
Awesome history of freed blacks from the Louisiana culture, pre- America up till modern day. A must see if you are in New Orleans
Staff was welcoming and very informative. I learned more intimate details about the struggles of my people. It was difficult to hear some of the trials, heart breaks and triumphs that still continue in some forms. It's very important to know ones history so it is not repeated. Thank you for the lessons to carry back to share with others. I will return to sit on that beautiful porch and enjoy the gardens. More...

Guide Kim was splendid, delivering so much information with grace and humor. Get out of the Quarter and see this place. Beautiful house filled with antiques, so many paintings and prints, documents (with printed transcripts for those in difficulty scripts).

This place was beautiful and a great resource of knowledge. Our guide was super sweet and led us throughout the museum as it she was our friend. Telling us stories and information, not reciting a lesson to us. I enjoyed it a lot and highly recommend. If you are looking for places to go they give their own map of black owned business to go to throughout NOLA. Their courtyard is beautiful too, great for pictures. #culture #rainyday #accessible #mustsee #learn More...
