Lakeside Cafe & Bakery

We decided to try this place after never trying any restaurants in Lakeside. Weve ordered quite a few things from this place so I'm just going to address everything as it is. 1) Southern Cajun Catfish Dinner: the fish was absolutely delicious! It was fried, crispy, and didn't arrive to us soggy from condensation. We chose clam chowder with it and it was creamy and amazing. The mashed potatoes were a bit on the bland side though. 2) Melting Pot Omelette: very loaded and eggs were cooked thoroughly. Fresh ingredients and the cheese was actually melted lol. Some restaurants just sprinkle it on and leave it, not here! 3) Pie by the Slice (apple): one of the best pies I've had so far and I'm a huge pie person! 4) Homemade Cinnamon Roll: one of the largest cinnamon rolls that I've came across, but unfortunately, it wasn't very tasty. It tasted overcooked or like it was sitting out for too long. It was very hard. 5) Fresh Fried Chicken: this chicken was good but the chicken did not have any seasoning or flavor to it. It was extremely bland. 6) Chili: the chili was basic. Probably could've found better in a can. 7) 3 Cheese Melt: wasn't a big fan of this at all. There was just too many toppings thrown together and nothing made sense on it. Bread was extremely soggy and inedible. Choice of cheese was great, but execution wasn't there. 8) Onion Rings: the onion rings taste exactly like the ones from Denny's, but not golden battered or as crispy as Denny's. They're good, but not good enough.9) Fresh Fruit: the fruit was fresh, but the selection of fruits they used wasn't a good one. 10) Grilled Pork Chop Dinner: the pork chops were up there in quality with the catfish dinner! Terrible New Management Went in around 12:30pm was NOT busy at all.  We had a new waitress named Helen and she was great but unfortunately was not trained well. There was 4 of us and only 2 of the meals came out correctly, one was wrong I ordered and egg white Omlet which came out wrong and my daughter chicken tenders and French fries.  We waited and waited.  Why manager walked by us many times with no eye contact finally had to stop her and she blamed it all on the waitress.  She also knew we were waiting, she knew my food came out wrong and she NEVER came to apologize I had to call her over! She offered to take off our drinks! That's it! And then the waitress went on lunch no one came over to see if we needed anything when we did but at this point we just gave up! This morning my wife and I enjoyed a wonderful breakfast with hot coffee! The waitress exercised precautions wearing a mask and distancing. She took our orders, kept our coffee up and met all our needs. Lakeside Cafe is one of our "Go To's" serving great fresh food with a smile. With the new rules LKS Cafe has out door dining under canopies and though we walked in for breakfast they ask you make a reservation for lunch and dinner. So disappointed in my Mother's Day breakfast from Lakeside Cafe. Ordered a special meal, it was a 45 minute wait for pick up. I got there at 45 minute mark and had to wait ANOTHER 45 minutes along with everyone else who ordered. When my order was finally ready, I got the food and could tell it was cold even before I left the restaurant. Upon getting home, multiple items were missing, the food WAS cold, there were none of the condiments I asked for AND they charged for the to boxes. Are you kidding me We can't eat at the restaurant because of COVID and you charge us for the containers but don't disclose that when ordering!?!?! I spent almost $100 on cold disgusting food. Also, we're vegetarians. And there were multiple pieces of bacon in our food. Ruined my Mother's Day morning. And I will not be going back. I do not recommend anyone going there, ever. More...

Food came out cold, might have tasted great, but I wouldn't know, while waiting on my server to ask if it could be warmed up, we decided to leave a five for our drinks and head out after ten minutes with no contact.

I waited a month to write this review because I wanted a clear head.  So here's the story: I moved into this neighbor a little over two years ago.  The Lakeside Café immediately caught my eye because I believe in doing business locally, keeping money in the community.  I stopped in (it's very close to my house) multiple times over the next few months.  It's definitely an 'old-school' place that the locals tend to flock to.  "My kinda place!" I thought to myself.  I sampled breakfast, lunch and dinner.  The portions were large (I always took home leftovers), the selection was good, there's plenty of parking and street access is good, their hours are nice, but the best thing was the quality of the food: excellent.  I truly thought I had food a great local place and told myself I would frequent this place, several times a month.  And a plus for me was if I used my credit card, I got frequent flyer miles.  A 'win-win' situation, or so I thought.Immediately the thing that got my attention was the service.  It was slow, sloppy, and unpredictable.  And it just got worse.  As I watched over my multiple visits, I noticed the servers would disappear into the back for 10-15 minutes at a time, leaving their tables unattended.  If any other server walked by my table, I would have almost trip them to get their attention.  That's just bad customer service.My last visit was just before Christmas.  It wasn't really crowded so that was not an excuse.  I spent almost an extra hour (55 minutes) sitting at my table, not counting the meal preparation time and eating time.  We didn't get silverware until after the meal arrived.  Then we didn't get the table cleared and the bill for almost 30 minutes after we were ready to leave.  Then it took another 15 minutes to pay the bill.  The front counter had to find my server because only she could accept cash for the bill.  The front counter can accept credit card payments but the card reader doesn't work most of the time.  I am a good tipper but this was the first time in my adult life (I'm 61) that I never left a tip and just walked out; I was that disappointed.I'm not sure if it's just plain old bad business, a lack of caring on the server's part, or the fact I'm not an established 'local' yet, but I just got tired of it.  Thankfully, there are other places close enough to patronize.  Another noteworthy thing is the owner doesn't seem to read these reviews or at least respond to them.  That tells me they don't really care.  I would consider coming back but it will be a while before I do unless I see an 'Under New Management' sign out front.  So unless you've got extra time to kill and you don't mind having your time wasted, I recommend you avoid this place. If you were looking for an old school feel to a new school menu look no further than Lakeside Café. Early Bird breakfast will get you your bang for your buck. The melting pot omelette is to die for! If you like hickory smoked bacon, smoked ham, sausage, tomato and onion (I added cheddar cheese) with an amazing garlic salsa on the side which I poured onto the omelette because it' s delicious! Then come to Lakeside Cafe! Service is also amazing! More...

when u walk into a place the first face that greets u sets your mood or experience let me just say we were greeted right away with a smile and great attitude I would rate our experience there a 10.
