As a Californian with a high bar for Mexican food I can assure you good Mexican food is a rarity in NYC. La Loteria never disappoints. The food is flavorful, vibrant and perfectly cook. Chilaquiles that come out in no time at all taste like they've been simmering for hours. The servers and bartenders are all friendly and great at their jobs. The mimosas and sangria are wonderful! The papas bravas are perfectly crispy and soft. They are well seasoned and the chipotle mayo is perfect. It's hands down the best guacamole in the city and the salsas are just as good. Chips are always hot and freshly made. More...

My friend and I wanted to try something new in the neighborhood and we're SO glad we picked La Loteria! We had prix fixe and we're both stuffed when we left. The black bean soup was sublime!!! I could have made a meal out of the black beans and delicious rice - OMG! I'll go back just for that! My friend had the chicken tacos which were perfectly seasoned and the chicken was so moist delish! I had the ceviche which was good and came with perfect chips (not at all greasy). The place has a great vibe and the service was attentive. Only comment is that the music was a wee bit loud for lunch time. Also, I'm a bit OCD and noticed some of the pictures were not quite level (I wanted to fix them but my friend talked me out of it - LOL!). Overall we loved it and will def return. More...

Great restaurant. Food was yummy and service was friendly. Space was very tight though having to move when waiters or people needed to get around us and it was super loud in there. Felt like we needed to scream to hear each other. More...

Hi. The service was excellent (as always). Every time I come to "La Lotería," they greet me in a way that make me (and my guests) feel very welcome. I wanted to point that out, since my friend I was with that night made the observation. The food was delicious, the Skinny Margarita with Cucumber is super refreshing in every season. The "Ceviche de Pescado" is one of the best I've tried (it always tastes super fresh and the avocado in it is always perfection). I did also love the "Tostadas de Atún," which were Mini-rounded toasts with tuna on top and some micro-greens, delicious. Then, the tacos: I went this time with the Chicken Tacos and the Baja Fish Tacos. I have to say, now I can see why people love those Fish Tacos! The battered fish is cooked (maybe light fried?) as a croquette and wrapped up in a corn tortilla, served with some mild (and more spicy) sauces. It never disappoints, always a great experience there. More...

Solid modern Mexican food, at reasonable prices. We started with the chips and set of three salsas, all were delicious. I got the vegetable fajitas, which were generously portioned, very well seasoned and delicious overall. My partner got the tempura cauliflower tacos (2 of them) and loved it. Everything had a great balance of spice and flavour, and we left feeling full and satisfied. More...

Nice but over priced.l Good thin chips but guac didnt command an $18 price. Yuka fries were the driest fries ever had. texture seemed like it was cooked and sitting under a heating lamp for hours. As a frequent NYC restaurant patron who both grew up in NY and utilize restaurants exclusively as our kitchen, I had a very good experience at this restaurant meeting with a friend. There were just enough options on the menu for wide selection, and yet not overwhelming so you are studying the menu like a course rather than focusing on conversation. The drinks were innovative, delicious and hip. The week night was just the right level of noise for light music and good conversation. The wait staff were very attentive and experienced. The pricing is very reasonable for the scale of food and ambiance. If possible the chairs can be slightly more comfortable but their appearance is lovely for the ambiance. More...

Me and my husband were there yesterday. Food and drinks were great! The only this was the hostess... (reason why I'm giving 4 starts) I believe it was very rude that she could not find my husband's name on the reservation and she stated "maybe the reservation was made under the name of Elena, and keep mention names. .." I believe that was very rude, just stating that she could not find the name at the time we said should have been enough. (We said 6:30 and reservation was at 6:45pm) More...

This place had amazing quality food and the service was outstanding. Had the salmon tacos and shrimp quesadilla. The bartender who I believe said he was a manager was a great host and hooked us up with some rare shots of tequila. We were very thankful for that. Only reason I gave three stars for value is because the empanada appetizer I got had literally one small empanada as an appetizer. I’m not a big eater but at least a few on a plate would have made more sense for the price. More...

Perfectly nice. Upscale food, very decent margaritas. Even for this neighborhood, it's pretty pricey for what you're getting. But the fact that they take reservations is a plus. Service was spotty. Very friendly and helpful at the beginning, but then they more or less forgot about us for about 30 minutes. More...

Nice modern Mexican cuisine!!! This restaurant has a nice menu with different options where you can find traditional dishes with something (sauce, size, toppings) that make almost all the plates different. - Good guacamole with nachos and three sauces: peanut, jalapeño and Chile de Árbol. - Tuna tostadas with avocado and mango pico de Gallo AMAZING DELICIOUS. - Duck flautas with mole sauce (chocolate spicy sauce). Very original dish!!!- The tacos with fish and salmon are very fresh so go down with them. They also have nice margaritas with different flavors and the servers were very cool.
