I wish I could remember her name, but the on call emergency vet last night was wonderful over the phone. We are not even a patient here but my dog got a scary laceration and she advised me over the phone, talked me down, and helped me take care of him. When I took him to our regular vet this morning they agreed that it was fine to wait overnight and now he is on the mend! It was a terrifying moment for me and she got me through. Thank you doctor! I was visiting from the Milwaukee area. My 7 month old puppy had previously been treated by my local vet for diarrhea. On our first night in La Crosse, my pup woke up about 4am & started vomiting. He eats anything he finds on the ground so I figured he probably got into something. Then he laid down & was shaking. I was scared he was going to have a seizure. I went on-line to look for an emergency vet & found LAX Veterinary Clinic. It was highly recommended on-line & had a 24-hour on-call vet that I could speak to. I left a message, was called back a short time later by the vet, & was advised to call to secure an appointment that morning as soon as the clinic opened. I called right away at 7:30am & they managed to squeeze my pup in between other patients. From the moment we entered the clinic, everyone was wonderful. He wasn't at all afraid when the Lab Tech took him into the back room. He was examined & x-rayed & fortunately there was no intestinal blockage. He was prescribed an anti-nausea pill & also given a probiotic to take with his food. I picked him up early in the afternoon. If I lived in the area, there is no doubt that this is the place I would want to take my pets. Excellent experience from start to finish. More...

My cat has been here a couple times this year and I am very impressed with how they handle him. He can get very scared and stressed and I like how they remember that about him. We recently moved and my cat ended up getting sick, not eating and so on. I brought him to an emergency vet appointment, the prices were lower than I expected but not cheap by any means. They always make sure to call after appointments, when health concerns are found) to check to see how he is doing. It was a scary experience for me and they helped me and him through it! More...

We had a wonderful experience with the La Crosse Vet Clinic. I called the emergency line early in the morning on the day of our visit, and spoke with Dr. Kindermann. She was so kind and reassuring on the phone and made me feel so much better! La Crosse Vet Clinic was also kind enough to schedule our dog, Chandler, for a visit that day, even though we weren’t regular clients there. We had been denied service at other vet clinics that day for that reason, but La Crosse Vet happily took us on. We actually saw Dr. Kindermann that afternoon, and she and her staff were so friendly and welcoming and treated my Chandler so well. After this great visit, we are considering making the La Crosse Vet Clinic our primary vet for both of our dogs! We had a wonderful experience and we are so grateful for their care. More...

I am new to the area and took my 3.5 year old cat there because he was very sick. The vet techs and Dr. M were amazing and very empathic when telling me that my baby wasn’t going to make it. They gave me as much time as I needed and sat with me for almost 45 minutes while I cried. My only complaint was the woman who collected payment. Her bedside manner was horrible and I had to confirm that I was putting my cat down while I sobbing. (I recognize her job is very difficult, but a little comfort at that time would have helped me a lot.) Thank you all for making one of the hardest days of my life as good as it could have been. This is a wonderful place to help you care for your pet. Dr. Skime is our regular vet and could not be more patient (our dog is a bit of a handful. .. or maybe it’s her owners) and thorough. She will also take whatever time is necessary to answer questions and provide information. We’ve also seen other vets on urgent visits and they have been uniformly excellent. The techs are very well trained, friendly, and sympathetic. The front desk employees are very efficient and go out of their way to make your visit easier. Of special note is their emergency services (which not all vets provide). They will very promptly return calls and if necessary will meet you in the middle of the night. Love this clinic and all the staff there. They are extremely helpful, friendly and compassionate. Customer service is excellent! ! They go above and beyond. Dr. Skime is our regular vet and is the best vet I've ever used by far. She is compassionate, knowledgebase and always has my pets' best interests in mind. She lays out everything clearly and provides alternate naturopathic care options when possible. I always feel like my dogs got the best care every time I leave the clinic. I travel a bit over an hour to get to there and I would travel farther if need be to take my dogs to see them. I've been going there for years and I highly recommend their services. More...

We took our 1 1/2 year old rescue LabX in for her vaccines and were greeted immediately and taken care of promptly by caring and knowledgeable staff. Doctor Mitzelfeldt checked her over prior to administering her vaccines and the Vet Tech did a wonderful job of occupying our inquisitive wiggler. We never felt hurried or rushed, had time for questions and were given all the information we needed. It was an excellent experience. I'll only take my animal to this vet. They are the most affordable vet in town and have the best customer service. They're always so helpful when my cat comes in and very tentative to her and calming her down: as she's terrified of the pet taxi. All around a great place
