Why is there absolutely no social distancing happening at this location? Passed by last night and saw zero masks on an EXTREMELY crowded patio. what we ordered and what was described in the menu were complete opposites. the pork chimichanga was not fried, but was a swollen, gelatinous, glob of. ..I have no idea. The warm pork was stuffed and wrapped inside and cheese was poured on the outside of this raw flour tortilla. I thought that maybe this was the way La Carreta's served this dish, so I tried to eat a couple of bites, but it just wouldn't go down. I called the waitress over to alert her of the obvious issue with my dinner, but instead of handling my issue, all I got was, "oh, sorry bout that"! I thought she might call it to a manager's attention, but nope, nothing. my wife had a cup of bean soup with her meal which seemed to be a very salty broth with a tablespoon of beans and a piece of two of smoked sausage along with what looked like bacon squares. this too was inedible! Needless to say, we WILL NOT return to La Carreta's mexican restaurant. we will spend our hard-earned cash other places which will appreciate our patronage. More...

What was described on the menu was not what we got. After pointing this out to the wait staff the only response we received was "Oh". Not to mention of they should have asked if we wanted to speak with manager, we were just totally dismissed. We were not requesting a credit, but the management should have been notified. It was a kitchen problem not a service problem so the management should have been involved but again we were not given that option. This restaurant retained it's kitchen staff during Covid lockdown so there was no New Staff mistakes. I will spend my money elsewhere from now on. LaCaretta is a big mistake. More...

This is our favorite spot for Mexican fare in Baton Rouge! We consistently experience great, friendly service, a fun atmosphere, and delicious food cooked with care. I never thought I’d be ordering cauliflower tacos on the regular, but now it has become something I crave on the regular. Other favorites include: al pastor, steak tacos, bean soup, queso, guacamole, and any of the enchiladas. Can’t forget about their margaritas, always worth the trip during happy hour especially. This is the third time I’ve had horrible service here. The first time, I went for a late lunch. I ordered a drink and queso. The queso came out quickly, but I told the girl who brought it I hadn’t gotten any chips. I sat for over 10 minutes, the only person in the restaurant, with queso but no chips or drink and no servers in sight. So I walked out. The time after that, the service was so slow and inadequate that the manager waited on us himself. He did a great job. Again, only one to two other tables in the entire restaurant. Last night, we went cause we had a 225 coupon, and it will be our last trip. We stood at the hostess stand for several minutes. The bartender alerted some of the wait staff standing nearby, but she finally came to seat us because they were not. Then, we sat for what seemed like forever but was likely closer to about 5-10 minutes with no service other than the chips and salsa run to the table by kitchen staff. Two more tables came in, were seated, and had drinks on the table, but we had still not been greeted by a server. So I went to the bar and got our drinks. At this point, the manager also grabbed drinks for us and sent a server to our table. I appreciate the bartender’s attentiveness and efforts to provide us service. We should’ve sat at the bar. So we decided to never buy coupons or come back, and it’s so sad because the food is some of the best. We absolutely love the food, but after 3 tries over the span of a year or so, I give up. used to go every friday for dinner stopped 2 years ago food wasn't really prepared well had a craving for chili rellenos . ...didn't feel like driving to hwy 30 to eat so we tried la carreta agin today nope never ever again enchilada sace on relleno was old,greasy and burnt.i had asked for it on the side as i always do ..while rellano and rice was coved in it whole meal tasted burnt.ate less than 1/4of food was never asked if everything was good half way through hubby eating bill was slapped on the table very unprofessional... will be longer than 2 years this time More...
