I was sad when the Last Boulangerie near my house closed down. It's a rare opportunity for me to get my fix, buy when I'm in the area I have to visit. The Hazelnut Chocolate Croissants are heavenly and there are a free different savory croissants that will surprise you. They make their pastries with lots butter and and you can taste the difference in the quality. The manager on staff this morning was attentive, anticipated what his customers needed and the rest of the staff was cheerful and attentive as well. Great little spot. The 5th will appear when I come back to electrical jacks in the wall so I can post up with my laptop. It's 2019 guys, come on. ;) More...

The wheat croissant has an additional nutty sweet taste. Quite good! And cheaper by far to most other bakeries.

This is by far the best French bakery in the Bay area. Authentically French and won't disappoint. The prices are fair and if it matters, they did list out where they source all their ingredients. It's not too far from the civic centre attractions and worth the trek if you're in the area. More...

A cute little French bakery with friendly staff.
I had the butter croissant with strawberry jam and caramel latte coffee.
Both were absolutely delicious.
I would love to go back to this place.

Strong selection. Bread pudding is the best outside of the UK. I appreciate that this is authentic French baking and pastry. This bakery never over uses sugar. Always flaky, buttery, whole cream, fresh fruits. Strong lunch options with daily baked breads, rolls, sheu pastry. More...

Delish chocolate croissants, flaky and just right ratio of chocolate to pastry dough. Very good decaf cappuccinos and other espresso coffees available. Some seats and tables inside to enjoy your pastries and beverages. Friendly and helpful staff. More...

4 ⭐ mid-range cafe. Better than average on most fronts (coffee, breakfast/lunch, baked goods).. but a shadow of what it used to be (neglected fittings, bathroom, service, food, crockery). An MBA got hold of someone's passion? More...

What's happening to La Boulangerie? It used to be my favorite cafe anywhere. I don't know about other locations in other towns, but this first Sutter St. on downtown closed a couple of years ago, and now this Noe St. location looks as it won't last for much longer either. The place looks stripped of all the charm and warmth it used to have. Abundant in the past, display of delicious pastries of now looks scarce. No more seductive, vibrant with fruit, tartines. All I see are basically mini baguettes. I came here today specifically for smoked salmon brioche sandwich. They are out of smoked salmon! Coffee is served in paper cups, although I am eating in. Where did those amusing coffee bowl go? Tuna melt and I are both sad. More...

It's not as good as the real thing (strangely nowhere outside France is, must be different flour or water or something) but very good, especially for breakfast. Friendly staff, busy without being packed. Watch out of it is rammed because occasionally the service can be pretty terrible with long long wait for drinks that end up arriving well after you finished any food. Mostly though it's great :) More...
