My family was in need of a design for a handicapped bathroom and bedroom. Kyle and Pat were referred to us by my contractor.
We are so grateful because not only did they design a beautiful functional space for my disabled child, they decided to donate their time and design to the project. We are forever grateful to them. They are not only talented with what they do, but they are amazing people as well.

Great design ideas. Created beautiful functional master bath and attractive additional bedroom with barrel vaulted ceiling. Added foam insulation to all walls. Easy to work with, responsive to feedback and worked well with the builder. I haven't given 5 stars as there was a mistake in not including an outside porch overhang that had been in previous drawings that was not caught until design was built. More...

We added a screened in porch, enlarged our bedroom, and generally updated and improved our house. Kyle is the consummate professional. He is very talented with a great eye for form, texture, and function. He is extremely well organized and is there to facilitate, clarify, and support throughout the whole process. Everything is clear ahead of time. He knows how to be warm and professional at the same time. In addition he really listens and adjusts to his customers’ tastes and ideas, yet never hesitates to give his frank and professional opinion. He is consistently available which is very important. My husband and I hired KVD+ Architecture to renovate our house in 2004, and we couldn't have been happier with the process and the results. This was a truly collaborative effort. Kyle Van Dyke was our main contact, and he spent a lot of time listening to what we wanted to achieve, and then contributed some truly creative ideas. Since it was a large scale renovation (we expanded our three-bedroom ranch into a five-bedroom colonial and customized virtually every aspect), we needed someone who could reliably guide us through it. Our KVD architect began by asking us what we liked and didn't like about our Victorian house. She blended the design of our addition so it flowed seamlessly from the original construction.
The windows and other details match the style of the original, and she incorporated corbels we had salvaged from another part of the house into the design.
KVD took care of all the approvals, permits, and inspections. Our architect was also our project manager. She met with us weekly and was available by phone and email if we ran into a problem during construction.
We now have an attractive addition that combines Victorian style with modern convenience.

I have worked with Kyle and his team on four projects -- three single family homes (one was my own, two were investment properties), plus a larger mixed use building that included a residential component. If voting with your feet is significant, then clearly I have voted in the affirmative multiple times. KVD consistently delivers on its commitments, and consistently exceeds expectations for responsiveness, integrity, and thoroughness. This has allowed me to develop a relationship with KVD that is based on trust and mutual respect. KVD works hard to trade-off between costs and style, and listens to its clients to understand what makes sense in each situation. The end result has been excellent, and well received by many. As with any endeavor where there are trade-offs, the client must be prepared to participate in the process to ensure satisfaction and success. Two of these projects involved older, post and beam structures -- KVD has an excellent understanding of such structures and the process of renovating them. If I had any complaints, they are minor, mostly focused on perhaps achieving slightly faster turn-arounds, and as an investor looking to select somewhat less expensive materials in some situations.
