Karen's THE best! If you want perfect brows there's nowhere else to go. I've had my brows waxed in the past and they took too much off and it took forever to grow back. I never have to worry about that here. AND they have great makeup too which is just icing on the cake. Working on fuller eyebrows! First timer here and loved the experience.  She measured my brows and showed me where they should start and stop and gave me "homework" for the areas I need to grow out. This was my first time EVER getting my brows shaped by someone else. I was never keen on the idea of waxing, so searched Yelp for a tweezing specialist. As usual, you Yelpers delivered & I went to see Rachel.She was friendly, professional and knows brows! I was blown away at how different they look. So glad I discovered this place!  I had the pleasure of seeing McKenzy and she was ahmazing! That lady knows how to shape! Not to mention she makes a 'self-inflicted torture sesh' ;) that much more pleasant and bearable! They were able to get me in quickly and the atmosphere was beautiful.  I was provided with detailed explanations on why waxing is harmful, how to fill and shape your brows, tips on help with hair growth (I have super blond brows), and what 'maintenance' schedule I should maintain (i.e. I don't need all that much and to follow up when you feel like you're sporting caterpillars!) ;)All in all, a fabulous experience and will definitely be going back! I had to get professional head shots done for my job and so I needed to get my make up done professionally. Of course, I left it for the last minute but this place was so accommodating and got me an appointment in the evening.  Once I got the appointment, they called the next day to ask what I needed and wanted. We talked a bit about what I wanted to play up and how I wanted my make up done. It was a great conversation.On the day of my appointment, I got there and the make up artist talked about my face and she worked on one eye before she started with the other one to make sure I liked it. She explain why some of it may seem more brighter due to the camera lights. She even showed me a couple of tricks so I can apply eyeshadow. Long overdue review- after years of crooked eyebrows I finally decided to go to a brow specialist. Having them done correctly was very important to me. McKenzy is seriously an eyebrow angel. This chick knows what she's doing. My boyfriend and I both plopped down in her chair and were transformed. She gave constructive feedback as I asked her a million questions about how I could make my brows this good on a daily bases. And she helped shaped my mans bushy blonde brows. All hail McKenzy!!! I went here today, having called at 2 and got in at 4 pm on a last minute cancellation. (MY LUCKY DAY!)It was exactly as good as the reviews say. Just make an appointment. No, seriously. Do it right. freaking. now. Thanks again Yelpers, you always steer me in the right direction! When I decided that I wanted to REALLY get my eyebrows shaped (instead of that joke that is the "eyebrow wax" at the same place you get your nails done), I consulted Yelp's highest rated businesses for "eyebrow shaping" and Kiss N Makeup was the first to come up. I'm an impatient person who really likes same day appointments, and I had to book a couple weeks out, (seriously, that was so lucky for this place, I had no idea at the time) but I took what I could get and waited impatiently. It's more money than I've ever spent on my brows, but I am not kidding when I say that it was OH, so, so worth it - both the money and the wait. My appointment was with Karen, and she was as sweet and patient and lovely as she was helpful, professional, and generous in sharing her knowledge of brows. I had my first appointment with Karen today for a brow shaping. All I can say is WOW! My abused brows were in need of someone more knowledgeable and talented than your average brow waxer/threader, and I got exactly what I wanted. Karen tweezed my brows to get the perfect shape and talked me through the whole process while SHOWING me where to pluck and where not to. She showed me how to fill in my brows, too. I left there with no makeup on but feeling like a million bucks cause my brows were PERFECT! Also, yes, this place is expensive. A brow shaping cost me $50 + tip which is the most I've ever spent, but for me it was money well spent. If you're someone who's happy with your brows and just looking for someone to maintain them I probably wouldn't suggest this place, but if you're unhappy with your brows and need help- look no further! I have never done professional brow shaping before. I have gotten waxes ~3 times and usually just pluck. I went to Rachel this week and could not have been happier with my experience and the results! !! She explained to me everything she was doing and where my arc should be etc. I was nervous about changing my eyebrows so much but she absolutely killed it! McKenzy is amazing :) It was my first time there last week, and she was very friendly and welcoming. I was so excited to receive a call off the waitlist, as I was told she is booked up until February! McKenzy was very thorough on explaining her process, and how she will save my eyebrows from the mess when I got them threaded in November. If you are tired of waxing and threading, I highly recommend this place as it is pain-free and more precise! However, I think it's better if you grow your eyebrows out a little bit before you go; I did, but my eyebrow ends are still growing back. McKenzy did a great job shaping my brows to suit my face, and gave great advice on how to maintain them and not mess with my ends to allow them to grow back more. I've never really paid that much attention to my eyebrows. That didn't work out so well. I had never heard of a business doing eyebrows by just tweezing, until I came across Melissa Z's raving review, which totally intrigued me. I thought it sounded pricey, but since I recently saw a picture of myself close up I noticed that my brows were a hot mess. Help was needed, and I'm a believer in trying everything once, especially when it comes to the upkeep of my face. I had a tough time finding the place, but it is located on Burnet Rd (behind Medical Parkway) in a small white house with a very small sign. They only have two parking spots so you have to park in the street. My appointment was with McKenzy. Karen (the owner) is apparently taking appointments now for the year 2015. Yes you read that right...she books up a year in a advance! McKenzy explained to me why waxing is bad for your skin and eyebrows and why tweezing is more accurate. She explained to me how she shapes the eyebrows. Look, this process is complex, so I'm leaving it to the professionals from now on. It was very informative and she answered every question I had. She explained where she wanted to see more growth and if I were to tweeze some myself in the near future what hairs not to tweeze and which ones could go away. I'm very thankful for these instructions! Surprisingly enough, the whole process of hairs being plucked away was very painless, and my skin was not red or irritated much like what happens with waxing. If you have $40-$50 to spend on your brows, then I highly recommend this place. The appointment took about 30 minutes, and I went right back to work. Responding to Danielle E. Austin IS a big city-- 11th In the nation. We have threaders here at various price points (check Yelp listings). But I've yet to find any establishment that provides the results and professionalism Karen and her team provide. Kiss N' Makeup might just be my new favorite place! Finding a good brow specialist is incredibly difficult. It's not like lunch, you can't just write off a bad experience as "I'll never eat there again". No! When you get a bad eyebrow treatment, the world knows. McKenzy took care of my eyebrow shaping and she is wonderful, efficient, quick and professional. I knew almost instantly I was going to love this place as soon I sat in the chair and McKenzy took her time to evaluate my facial structure. During my initial session she asked Karen (owner) for guidance. I appreciated that McKenzy asked for help before plucking away. Karen is great, no other way to describe her genius.  The setting is cozy and welcoming and everyone is friendly and warm. The place is cute, clean and the receptionist Amanda is very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this place. Now for my Yelp PSA: this goes out to all the lovely ladies that read this review. When it comes to choosing a service technique, threading, tweezing, or waxing the experience can get a little bit tricky or, depending on your prior salon experiences, downright scary.  Do not wax or thread your eyebrows. It is not healthy for your skin and it is not as accurate as tweezing. The tweezing technique offers precision and creates a more natural finish because you're working closely with individual hairs. You need to remember that during the shaping of eyebrows it is easier to subtract missed or leftover hairs than it is to add hair back if you overdo it. That is another reason why I am a strong proponent of tweezing, the margin of error is less. Threading on the other hand can offer an undone effect and the super-speedy nature of the service is often cause for reckless hair removal. Waxing tends to have the longest period in between regrowth, and obvious problem with waxing is the temporary red halo it can create around the treated area after the service. Waxing tugs at the skin and removes the top layer of skin, leaving your more delicate layers of skin open to infection, sun damage, and premature aging effects. Carly was incredible! She did my make-up for my bridal portrait and for my wedding. She was so easy going and the make-up was beautiful! I had two different people at my wedding who don't even know each other who commented that sometimes brides go overboard on their wedding day and look beautiful, but not like themselves. I was introduced to Kiss N Makeup through my aunt who gave me a gift certificate to have my makeup done. I'm a novice when it comes to makeup and so I was open to learning! My artist was McKenzy and she was -awesome-. So awesome that I hired her to do my makeup for my wedding! After my trial run my friends asked if it was airbrush makeup... nope! She's just that skilled. I have acne scars and she does a wonderful job covering them up. :)I wish I had more events and money to hire her, haha, so I definitely recommend anyone looking to have their makeup done. She listens and is very personable and sweet. At the wedding she was punctual and all smiles, no "Do you remember what we did?", she had it down pat!My wedding was a budget wedding but I have no regrets spending what I did for a quality job.
