Still here and still making some of the very best Greek and Meditterean food around this area period. Family owned and operated this small walk up service counter deli has been making great healthy food here for years. Actual thought I had reviewed them years back, but obviously not? I haven't had a falafel sandwich in quite a while, and not been in the area in a long time and was glad to see they are still here and still making very good food. So, I had to stop and get it to go. Masked required, social distancing in place - got my fat flatbread wrap with a side of hummus and a warm pita and was on my way. This is a seriously good and large traditional pita bread sandwich thats easily splitable or could be seconds for later. And if you are hungry like I was it definitely hit the spot for that exact moment in time.The falafels are huge and well seasoned, nice nutty richness of the chick peas, moist and fine grain consistency, topped with fresh veggies, and a cool yogurt dressing all stuffed in that warm pita bread. Just a great vegetarian lunch. The side of hummus though small was very tasty as well, the pita bread warm and was so good (no photo!) Kebab is amazing! You can phone in your order or place it curbside and wait. If your passing through Humboldt you must try this hole in the wall. Recommendation: Gyro Burger or Double Gyro is my favorite.The atomic mushrooms are also very good but... spicy as heck. Chicken Burger is great option for people unfamiliar with gyros or lamb. These ladies are kicking ass and taking names.Have you ever been to Arcata? Well, this was my first visit and while I was expecting some beautiful scenery, I was not expecting to find some great Mediterranean food. Ordered the Mediterranean chicken salad, dolma, tzatziki, hummus and baba ghannouj. Salad was fresh and chicken did not seem previously frozen. Unfortunately, the portions of our additional sides were on the smaller side. The hummus could have used a bit more flavor; perhaps more garlic like the tzatziki.Kebab Cafe was a much healthier alternative in the area and was walking distance from our hotel. Honest food at reasonable prices. We don't come here often but when we have we have been satisfied. I tend to go for the falafel burger, well my husband has the gyro. Â Certainly decent quick and humble fare for Arcata with its few options for Middle Eastern food. The one thing I wish they'd improve is the quality of their french fries. We enjoyed our food (gyro, Mediterranean salad, gyro/rice plate). Everything was tasty, and their outdoor order/takeout setup was pretty good to be able to practice social distancing (clean pen area, etc). There may have been a mixup with our order and we possibly didn't receive part of the order, but we're not sure we were charged and it was bad communication between my husband and I, so I won't hold that against them- do check your order, though. We loved this place. They serve a good variety of very flavorful kebabs. Â We got mushroom, veggie and shrimp. The place is rather popular and for good reason. First time trying this place out. Doesn't look like much from the outside. Ordered the chicken kebab wasn't too impressed. A little on the dry side and pretty basic. Thought it would be more considering the place is called kebab cafe. Staff was very nice and helpful with the menu options. Always a great meal. Their Mediterranean Salads are fresh and savory, the gyros are filling and delicious. A whole swath of options to choose from I have yet to try them all but I know they keep me coming back. For Turkish food in the middle of the northern California coast line in small city of Arcata, this place is pretty darn good. I was very surprised and very impressed with the variety, quality and flavors produced by this place. I had the kafta beef kebab and the lamb kebab plus the dinner plate. Â the price was right. Portions plenty and the pita bread tasted like it was just made. Would definitely recommend this place for anybody passing through who wants a good meal at a reasonable price in Humboldt County area.
