I returned after awhile. Honestly, driving by you might miss it. The space is small, but super cozy , clean and cute décor. The breakfast skillet we ordered tasted and looked like it was fresh. The food is super to an ihop or chain diner, and the prices are more affordable too. They were kind enough to split our shared order into separate plates which is always such a nice complement. The host could be a little bit more friendly and upbeat, but otherwise this is hidden gem of a breakfast spot. More...

Best breakfast place around. Always have great specials. I almost never order off the regular menu, not to say the regular menu isnt good, it's just the one of the specials always calls out to me. Staff is always happy to see you whether you come in once a month, a week or it's your first time. This is my first time back in a few months and the new renovations inside are so inviting and really modern. Bottom line if your looking for an awesome breakfast(or lunch) with friendly, attentive waitstaff, look no further. More...

We have been here before, but just didn't remember how wonderful it was and still is. For a Sunday morning at 10:15, we walked in, gave a name, and had a very short wait for a table for three. My daughter was on her way, we received menus and specials and our waitress brought coffee. The house coffee was great and I was tempted to try some of the pumpkin because of the wonderful aroma. Daughter got here and in a short time we ordered and with what seemed to be an even shorter time we were served. Please see the photos, great food, great service and a great price. We'll be back More...

I'm always on the hunt for new delicious breakfast spots. Last night Chicago's Best TV featured just that, Chicagoland's Best Breakfast. After looking at Katie's menu last night online, I knew I had to pay a visit, after checking out the sunrise at the beach in Winnetka, on the 1st day of Autumn. They featured her Huevos Racheros last night. Toasted English muffin, marinated skirt steak, avocado, two poached eggs, ranchero sauce, baked with Cheddar cheese. I'll have to try it my next visit.I went for her Southwest Egg White Scrambler "On The Healthy Side" of her menu. Spicy chicken sausage, onions, tomatoes, cilantro, Mozzarella cheese. Served with choice of toast and fruit or tomato. I asked for the whole egg with sliced tomatoes and dumped the side of black bean and corn salsa atop the tomatoes. The sausage did have a nice little kick.My server Mary is awesome and has been here for 10 of their 11 years they've been open. Definitely a hidden gem in this corner strip mall. They have a large dining room and it can be partitioned off for private parties. She also offers catering too. More...

They only do breakfast and lunch and they seem to do it very well. i got an omlette which they were really nice about substituting fruit for potatos, and my husband got the Swedish pancakes. he thought they were a little too eggy but it was clear that everything was made fresh and with love. would definitely got back to try again More...

I went for breakfast this week. Looks the remodeling his been completed. Had the peach cobbler pancakes. I couldn't finish them so took home about 1/2 of the order. When I tried them cold, I couldn't believe how good they were. I wish I could just order them cold. Maybe if I came in the day before, I could order, pay for them , and come in and have them cold the next morning. Call me crazy. Others have. Bill R. More...

I have eaten here several times for both breakfast and lunch and have always had good food and service. On my most recent visit I had their famous cinnamon swirl French toast with a side of bacon and my hubby had the chorizo quesadilla special and mom had the amaretto crepes. I noticed that they have recently remodeled to a more updated look- they have been around over 10 years so they must be doing something right. Also, don't forget to take home bakery on the way out. Stopped by with my wife after church on Father's Day. The place was packed but we'd fortunately made a reservation and were seated immediately. Service was fine, the food even better, and the value was good. Had the meat lover's skillet.... great quality and too much to finish! My wife had a basic eggs and bacon breakfast which was also fine. Good food, fine service.... a nice option for an in-town breakfast! More...

Solid breakfast... tasty skillets that are plentiful. Nice atmosphereOverall it was really good just needs a bit of fine tuning as far as service goes. Other reviews having the lady at the front being rude are not wrong. While I wouldn't say she was rude with me she seemed a bit off putting - she didn't ask how everything was or have the general gratitude and hospitality you'd expect from the first and last person you encounter at a restaurant. I ate here on a recommendation from a friend. It was a good recommendation! The place is medium/large sized with ample space between the booths and tables. It wasn't very busy during my visit - a rather blustery Monday at brunch time. Service was seriously speedy - so much so that I commented on it. The very pleasant waitress said that it was because they weren't busy. But I suspect that the kitchen always gets things out pronto. It's a pretty standard menu for an American Diner type place. But the food was a cut above the usual. You won't confuse it with fine dining, but you won't be disappointed either.During rush hour you might find it a bit difficult to get in and out of the parking lot. It's in a strip mall right near a busy intersection. But I'm speculating as I haven't experienced it first-hand. More...

When you go to a restaurant -- and they can take a few basic ingredients and come up with distinctly different experiences, you should be impressed with the skill of the chef. This is what happened with me when I chose 3 apple dishes, prepared with cinnamon and could easily distinguish the differences between each one.One of the things that drew me to Katie's kitchen was the enormous menu. The restaurant itself isn't huge and parking can be somewhat difficult. Decor is simple, but sufficient for making me feel homey. Service is fast as well as the speed of the cooking. Prices are reasonable, considering how large portion sizes are -- though the presentation leaves something to be desired. Here are my thoughts on the items I tried:Apple cinnamon cobbler pancake: Giant portion -- Apples are hot but not overcooked. The pancakes are very fluffy with crisp edges and the filling is delicious. There is a nice crunch to the cinnamon sugar which is paired with delicious crispy nuts. Surprisingly, this dish managed to fit in 4 distinct textures at all once.Cinnamon swirl french toast: Nice fluffy french toast with a crisp exterior. The egg flavor was very pronounced in the french toast as well and created an excellent combination with the rich and smooth cream cheese.Fresh baked cinnamon apple waffle: This was a soft waffle, but very flavorful with great aroma and chewiness, almost like a soft fluffy cake.Overall, I enjoyed my visit. It was a nice change from the typical breakfast dishes offered by most of the local restaurants. I do wish though that there was better presentation and that the overall look of the restaurant was updated a bit. The look of the food and decor detract from the experience of well thought out and executed dishes. More...

I was in Chicago because my daughter had a baby. We came right here after we got off the train. The lady who greet us was so warm and welcoming on a Saturday afternoon June 2. The down fall is we went back on Monday June 3, the young lady that open the store was nice but. It as friend as the lady on Saturday. My problem with her was she continued to play with her hair and I have big thing about people touching their body being around food. She seemed to just get her hair done and she was excited. The interior is a little old and and the place isn't too big but I liked the really warm fuzzy feeling it gave off when you stepped inside. Our server was so nice and attentive to all our needs.
