I've heard about this place for a while and finally went to try out some of their food, and it was so delicious! I had their omakase set ($39) which included the chefs selection of 14 sushi pieces. I also ordered the #12 (about $15) which was very good as well and pretty well portioned. They packaged everything so nicely in a box which I loved. The staff was very friendly when I went to pick up my order as well. They are open for takeout only. More...

This is my favorite sushi bar in town. Under COVID, they open for take out only but the quality is exceptional. Just like you are in Tokyo!

The best Sushi restaurant in Gardena.  If you want to try real Sushi, this is the place you should try.  If you like Americanized fake Sushi, forget about this place.  But if you want to try a real Sushi, this is the place! More...

Just ordered takeout today for the 1st time here. Called in my order and it was ready exactly at the time they told me. The food was good and the price is just right. Can tell they really take the extra time to pack the food neatly. A great spot and look forward to coming back. More...

Overall, I enjoyed food and satisfied the quality of fish but I just wanna give a  suggestion...! When I ordered for togo, My brother asked if they have seaweed salad and they told him yes, and We ordered. But what we got was very very disappointing. It was some green with seaweed that wasnt even seasoned. We got just dressing on the side, and i had to throw away after few bites. I hate wasting my money but I'm still uncomfortable about this. Stumbled upon this unassuming sushi restaurant because it was close to our kid's swim lessons (he likes sushi), but was pleasantly surprised. It is very traditional and the sushi was excellent. They use the traditional hangiri/handai (wooden rice bowl to prepare sushi rice). Definitely will be back! More...

A friend recommended this place. I had no idea what to expect. It was a classic Sushi bar very much like those in Japan. The clientele verified this. I usually feel more confident when I see many of the clientele being of the nationality the restaurant is themed. This being said I was more then pleased. Me and my family enjoyed the Omakase nigiri. Very fresh with alot of exotics. I do prefer getting each course separately though. I would suggest to the restaurant that maybe they could consider this. The highest quality sushi bars I have been too do this. The server usually describes the dish as well as it comes in the order the chef dictates. Other then this I know you will not be disappointed. I WISH I COULD PUT DOWN MORE STARS!!!!!! If you want actual authentic Japanese sushi GO HERE!! I have eaten "sushi" in the states and all of them have been "American" sushi. I HAVE FINALLY FOUND A SUSHI PLACE I CAN COMFORTABLY GO TO :))) (i'm so excited!)I had the 14 pieces nigiri omakase that's $39, and it comes with miso soup, and Chawan-mushi (savory egg custard?). Yes, yes and yes!! aaaahhhhh so GOOOOOD. The sushi chef will ask you what type of fish you don't like so its somewhat customize-able. I dont like shell fish nigiris so he changed it up for me :) The whole course is pretty filling, but I also ordered the negitoro hoso maki. very good :) I loved every minute I was there.  ***Make sure to get a reservation for the counter seats because sushi is always better on the counter instead of sitting at the tables. I am going to be a recurring customer for sure!!!Im didnt take any pictures because I was too excited eating 'em :) More...

I had the distinct privilege of dining at Kanpachi with my wife tonight. We ordered the Omakase Chef Course ($80 version). Apparently, the range is $60-$80 depending on fish selection and courses served. We splurged for the $80 package. The staff were very friendly and asked if we had any allergies or preferences regarding sushi and sashimi. So if you have any preference, just let them know at the beginning. We were served miso soup with ama ebi shrimp head (for flavor and decor), sunamono salad, deep fried blue crab, grilled black cod, assorted sashimi, chawan mushi (savory custard), and assorted sushi to finish off the meal. The seafood was so fresh and flavorful and presented in such an appealing visual display. Of course, it wouldn't be a meal without green tea ice cream! The sushi chefs looked like three generations of family members but we were later informed that they gentlemen were not related. A word of advice, if you want to eat here, I would think about making reservations. They have limited counter and table seating, and this is not the place to come order to go sushi. It's traditional sushi and not your modern sushi roll place. The parking can be difficult because it's located in a shopping center with many other restaurants. This is also not an inexpensive restaurant so be prepared to spend some money on quality sushi and service. More...

My husband got the 80 dollars omakase. However after I read other customer's reviews I realized they only served 6 pieces nigiri instead of 8 pieces. The second chef even didn't tell what kind of fish he gave to us. For the nigiri course my husband only got snapper, toro, ikura, aji, tamago, and uni. The table behind us they got one more scallop and sweet shrimp. It's not worth 210 dollars for this meal. More...

I came here again recently Christmas 2019. They were open and accepted reservations so it was great!Coming in they have very decent nigiri omakase for $35 each/ 14 pcs. I think this is a steal.Since we have had that in the past, we opted for the multiple dish omakase (priced $60-80).The multiple dish omakase has additional dishes such as steamed fish, sashimi, etc.The service is great and the food is as well. However, I think that the nigiri omakase is the way to go.All in all a good experience, good bang for buck. More...

This is a legit Japanese sushi place.  It's a small place, but price is very reasonable, and is not pretentious like some of the places in OC and LA. This was actually my first time trying a sushi place in Gardena/Torrance area.  I generally go to places in OC, but started noticing many of them becoming too modern and jacking up price for ambience and experience.  I just wanted a no-frills sushi at a reasonable price, and this place did the trick.  My wife and I came here to celebrate her birthday yesterday, and went with the nigiri omakase.  This was such a good deal at just $39 per person.  It included 14 pieces of sushi, miso soup, egg custard, and ice cream. At this price, this place should have one or two dollar signs at the most.  I'm not sure why it currently shows three dollar signs.  Before starting our omakase, the sushi chef asked us if there are any items we don't like.  We asked to exclude any squid or octopus.  Our omakase included halibut, snapper, tuna, amberjack (kanpachi),  albacore, sweet shrimp, toro, jumbo scallop, salmon, abalone (sea snail), tamago, ikura (salmon roe), tuna roll ( I think), and mini scallop roll.  Everything was good and tasted fresh.  Only item I didn't like that much was abalone because I didn't like the texture.  Texture was slightly crunchy and chewy, like a cartilage.  I know some people consider this a delicacy, and not too many places serve this, but it just wasn't for me.  Items that stood out for me were toro, amberjack, jumbo scallop, and halibut.  About the only criticism I have for this place is the size of sushi.  Most of the pieces seemed smaller than other places I've been to.  But at $39 for 14 pieces, it's still an excellent deal.  I highly recommend making a reservation because it's a small place.  There are only 11 seats at the sushi bar, three tables which can seat up to four people, and one table for two people.  So that's 25 maximum occupancy at this place.  It's located in a large strip mall.  I think it's called Gateway Plaza, which has other businesses like El Pollo Inka, Curry House. The Crab Shack, and several others. Parking wasn't too difficult on a Friday night at 6. More...

This place reminds me of authentic sushi place in Japan. The staffs here are very nice and welcoming and their sushi has many varieties not just your typical sushi you find from anywhere else, if you' re feeling adventurous you need to choose their "Omakase" but make sure to tell them certain things you do not like because you might get them. They also have some Americanized sushi such as California roll, Philadelphia roll and etc, so you can bring your kids as well. I highly recommend coming here and I know what is good sushi I'm from Japan so take my word on it. More...
