Katie of Kakes by Katie is simply a gem!!! She has been making cakes for me for over a decade but I was so excited that I could finally hire her for a wedding cake! ! I cannot tell you what a blessing it was to have someone as trustworthy and talented as she is in charge of such an important piece of the day! A themed wedding can be hard to execute and pinterest can make you feel inadequate when you can't have what you're looking for (that isn't over budget). Katie was able to provide exactly what my daughter in law asked for, delivered within our budget AND WAS FABULOUS!! The cake was delicious, moist and beautifully decorated. Kathy did an amazing job! The cake was beautiful and so tasty. She was easy to work with. I already knew exactly what I wanted but she has many designs of cakes to look through during consultation. Her cake tasting consultation was also fantastic! We chose the almond and amaretto for the bottom of the cake that we cut into and pink champagne and fresh strawberries for the top of the cake. Katie was great! My parents accompanied me to my cake tasting as my husband worked away from home at the time, and we just instantly loved her cakes. Not to mention her prices point was great. My husband, who isn't necessarily a cake lover, enjoyed the cake so much and was thrilled we had some cupcakes saved to enjoy the following day. Katie made our wedding cake last year for our wedding. As tradition would have it, we froze the top of the cake to defrost on our 1 year anniversary. On our weekend getaway we defrosted our white chocolate raspberry topper and didn’t think it would be as good since it was frozen for a year! It was DELICIOUS! It was still moist and had all of the same wonderful flavors we enjoyed on our wedding day. It transported us back to that day immediately and gave us the opportunity to enjoy our wedding cake once more. She was great, communication was great, and execution was great! She made the before process easy and all her cake flavors were delicious it made it hard to choose. We met Katie at our venue's catering/tasting event, where we sampled some delicious mini white chocolate cupcakes. We planned on ordering our wedding cake through Publix, but when we tasted those little cupcakes, we decided to do a little research and schedule a tasting with for the following month. The tasting was so fun and laid back, and the tasting portions were absolutely huge! We got to try nine different flavor combos, all of which were delicious, to the point that we had a hard time settling on just two combinations for our small cake. In the end we went with one tier of almond cake with amaretto cream filling, and a second tier of lemon cake with blackberry mousse. Both were delicious, and the cake itself was beautiful, a perfect reflection of our original cake inspo picture. We ordered the minimum required fifty servings of cake, though our guest count wound up being lower, and were glad to have so much extra cake on hand when everyone started requesting second helpings! By the end of the night, it was all gone, and my husband and I were happy to have some generous pieces packed away to eat on our honeymoon the following day! Kakes by Katie made our wedding cake for our “Notebook Themed” wedding at the Winterbourne Inn. Our cake was so perfect and absolutely delicious. It was a huge hit! Katie was so professional and easy to work with. We met with her for a tasting which was fantastic. Funny story, neither my husband nor I are big cake eaters so we weren’t really excited about this part of our wedding, but we went to the tasting, trying to keep a positive attitude. When Katie brought out many different samples, we took the first bite, we looked at each other and were blow away. This was cake? It was absolutely delicious. Better than any cake we had ever had. We tried to contain ourselves during the tasting but I know we looked like vultures going through all the samples. We booked her immediately. We did a three tier cake with Traditional Vanilla, Champagne Strawberry filling, and Key Lime. She also provide incredible cupcakes as part of our desserts. Everyone loved all she made. TL;DR - Beautiful and tasty cakes with minor hiccups.

Found Katie through wedding wire here and set up a tasting interview. It went swimmingly and we settled on a setup: A three tier cake chocolate/strawberry and a single tier vanilla groom's cake. Wedding cake is Sunday Sweets (the good side of Cake Wrecks) caliber and the groom's cake was great as well. Taste was delicious in all parts and guests were going for seconds. We've been eating cake leftovers for three weeks now and it’s awesome. She makes a great cake.

The experience was not perfect however. Emails would occasionally take up to 2 weeks to get a response. When the cake was dropped off, the cake itself was assembled and she left immediately. She didn't place the cake topper so the bride and I did it and it promptly fell off the cake making a little dent in it. Luckily, we already had our pictures of it, etc. I realize this doesn't sound like anything big, but on your wedding day, it's madness that causes bridal tears and could have been avoided if she had just double checked before taking off.

The negatives were minor hiccups and I would definitely recommend Kakes by Katie. The price was below others and the quality of product was top notch. More...

Couldn't have been happier with my beautiful wedding cake. My guests loved the cake, and I loved working with Katie. She was extremely helpful and flexible. My previous bakery closed before my wedding, and I was able to book a cake with Katie on short notice.We were even able to make a military welcome home cake for my now husband, who was deployed when our cake tasting needed to be done. BEST CAKES EVER!!!!!! Katie made my wedding cake and dessert table on 03/18/17 and my guest are still raving about it. We had a Great Gatsby theme wedding and her mouth watering desserts brought our theme to life. Not only was everything beautifully decorated but it was DELICIOUS. My wedding planner was telling me that she has never seen a dessert table have nothing left lol. All night my guest were raving about the cake and cupcakes. When my husband and I had our tasting with Katie the desserts brought my husband to tears it was so good lol. It reminded him of his grandmother's cakes, baked fresh and with love.
