K-9 Academy

Tony is an amazing trainer! I was having multiple behavior issues with my 1 1/2 yr old Shih Tzu and was at my wits end with him. I brought him to Tony at K9 Academy and it’s the absolute best thing i have ever done for this lil furbaby. (And myself!)The knowledge this man has of animal behavior is beyond incredible. Upon consultation he explained his personality traits, the why behind the bad behaviors and assured me he could teach him all the corrections he needed as long as i did the homework between lessons. Tony explains everything he is teaching, why he is teaching it and also the mishaps that can happen should you not follow correctly. He worked with Dublin to show me the correct way, then had me work with him as he refined it with me. You never walk out of a lesson with any doubts as to what you are to be doing for that week. He is also only a phone call away should you need guidance and reassurance , which i did need a few times. Today Dublin completed his basic training and i can’t thank Tony enough for doing what he does! My dog now has focus, structure, he completes tasks upon command and enjoys every minute of it. My little man has confidence in himslf now, which was one of his issues contibuting to his poor behavior, and he is a well rounded, behaved member of our household today thanks to Tony. Honestly if you are ready to give up on your pet, as i was, give Tony a call. K9 Academy is worth every minute and dollar you spend. Took our lab to several trainers, by far Tony is the best! One on one training is more than I could have asked for. Tony’s training session are well done and he trains until he feels the dog understands and completes and exercise. He is passionate for what he does and it shows. Tony is AMAZING. We rescued a Pitt Bull "Simba" who was extremely anxious and dog fearful/aggressive. Tony worked ABOVE and BEYOND with us to get Simba to the point that not only is he the most well behaved dog we have ever owned, but now we can actually take him around other dogs without difficulty. Anthony Mercuri owner of K9 Academy In Clark’s Summit Pa, has trained our German Shepard with patience and understanding and true knowledge of a dogs personality our Shepard had numerous issues and he was able to work thru her fearfulness and trust issues to the point that our ten yr old grandson is now able to walk her with ease! Along with anyone else that needs to, and now a little less than a year we have brought a 2 year old Cane Corso Mastiff into our home as a rescue and Anthony is now guiding us with her to make our family her forever family! I take my 4 year old Rottweiler to Tony at K-9 Academy, and i couldn't be happier! Our dog was 3 years old when we started training with Tony, our dog had some behavioural issues, tony took the time to not only train our dog but train us to continue at our home. Tony is a great trainer. I started working with him because I wanted to compete in obedience and rally with my 2 yr old Rottweiler Minnie. Minnie had a lot of trouble staying focusedAlong the way I got a rottie puppy. Tony has helped me tremendously with both of them. They have two different personalities and Tony figures out the best way to work with them. He has been a huge help in figuring out how to motivate Minnie, the laziest working dog ever. Minnie needed help learning focus. She now has AKC titles in rally and obedience, and Tony is continuing to work with us as Minnie advances in competition. Thankfully he has been there from the beginning with my puppy Axl. At 10 months old his obedience is excellent. I came to Tony the same day I picked my adopted lab up from the shelter and we began working on basic obedience. Tony's wealth of knowledge and understanding of dogs is incredible. His method of training works - it was only a matter of minutes before our dog began recognizing commands, and, with consistent work, she has become an obedient and loved part of our family. Very impressed with the wide knowledge Tony has in dog behavior. He is very good at explaining the breakdown of how to move forward, in obtainable amounts, to lead to a success pet rehabilitation. As a shelter employee Tony was able to give me the knowledge to work with reactive dogs we so often see entering the shelter. Because of K9 Academy I am happy to say that I have been able to successfully help several dogs that would otherwise not have gotten a second chance. Tony has done a great job with Elsa, our German Shepherd. Elsa was fearful of people to the point that other trainers gave me no hope that she could be a good family pet. Tony was very willing to work with us and assured me that we could fix this problem. Elsa now is very obedient and is constantly improving her relationships with other people. Tony is very accommodating with meeting times, sets reasonable goals, and is "user-friendly." I recommend K-9 Academy to all of my dog-people friends. More...

I have a German Shepard. Went to K-9 Academy for training.  When you go outside with No Leash no Training device and Your Dog stay right next to You. What a feeling. besides My Shepard I also have A Husky. Hard Dog to train. After the Shepard being train by  Tony the Husky also is the same way. He learn form the Shepard. When we adopted our puppy we searched for dog trainers in our area and found K9 academy in Clarks-Summit. I'm so glad we enrolled in Tony's classes at K9 academy because now we have a obedient dog and the confidence to continue with his training throughout the rest of his life. Most people are nervous to bring their beloved pets to trainers for fear of training to be too rough on them, I know we had our concerns when looking into trainers. Tony is very careful and shows you how to properly correct your dog from bad behaviors without hurting them like some of the other extreme methods for dog training. K9 academy charges a fair price for such a great experience, training and confidence you get with training your dog. I loved the fact that if I have questions even outside of class at anytime during the day I can call him for help and he will guide us in the right direction. You can't get that kind of service from any corporate pet store that offers dog training. Tony also never tried to up sell us on any kind of equipment for training or classes that he felt we didn't need. Tony's very passionate about his work and you can really tell his love for dogs when you meet. K9 academy offers so many different class everything from basic obedience to bomb sniffing training so it's easy to find something right for you and pursue your dogs training as high as you'd like. Our puppy is now 8 months old and is an extremely well behaved and gentle dog. Tony will forever train our dogs as we adopt more of them. If I could rate this place any higher than 5 stars I would.
