What do you love most about your job?
We strive to make a positive impact on our customers and their pets every day. We accomplish this by seeking to understand the specific needs and expectations for each in home visit. We work together as a team (pet owner & sitter) to reduce anxiety and stress for both the pets and the owners by looking after both the pet’s physical and emotional well-being while the owner is away. We operate with integrity and accountability in every aspect of our work.
On a personal note, I have utilized sitters for my own Fur-Babies for well over 10 years - all different types and have found it very difficult to receive the quality care I expect. I make sure all of my clients receive the quality of service above their expectations!

What inspired you to start your own business?
For over 20 years, Kelly was a leader in corporate sales. Her training instilled the importance of forging lasting long term relationships and the highest quality of customer service. Kelly was repeatedly acknowledged for her outstanding sales performance, winning several awards. Her creative strategies enabled Kelly to surpass company goals and excel in her career. Kelly has decided to walk away from her successful career to pursue her childhood dream of working with animals. Struggling to find the quality care for her own fur family, she has founded Just Fur-Babies to offer pet owners the consistent dependable care they expect and their pets deserve. Kelly has built the foundation of the business by networking with successful industry leaders. She is a member of Pet Sitters International, attending their World Conference in San Diego, September 2016. She is certified in Pet First Aid by Pet First Aid 4U and is currently studying for her Certificate in Professional Pet Sitting from PSI. Kelly also has completed a thorough background check and can provide proof of a clear criminal history to her clients.

Our business is your business, this service is to make sure your pet is getting the attention, care and love it deserves. This is not a gig or a part time job for us - this is our passion, full time. Our staff members are actual employees that are trained & certified. We are fully insured, licensed in Kansas & Missouri, bonded and full background checks are done on an annual basis. We are very transparent and an advocate for your pet.
Standard Visit
These visits are typically the most common choice for when you are out of town for business or pleasure, but can be customized to fit your needs. Each visit is approximately 30 minutes in length and we can frequent as many times as needed on a daily basis. 45 minute and one hour visits are available.
Dog Walking
Give your fur-baby – and yourself – a break! Tired of rushing home at lunch or right after work? Have your professional fur-baby sitter come instead! During our 30 minute visit, we can give your dog exercise and play time, to keep them healthy and happy. We can feed them dinner, or give them their medicine. Recurring Daily Walks or Visits can be set up any time of day, as you need them, or on a permanent schedule. Call or email us for more details!
Let Outs for Dogs
This 15-minute or less visit is designed for clients who simply want their dog to have a quick potty break at mid day–where exercise is not the goal. It is also ideal for older dogs who do not need a lot of exercise, or dogs that have restrictions after an injury. You must have a secured back yard to qualify for this service.
Pet Taxi
We get it … You have a huge to-do list and there are never enough hours in the day. Just Fur-Babies Pet Taxi service is here to help with your Fur-Babies next trip to the vet, groomer or wherever they need to go. All pets are secured during transport for their safety and your peace of mind.
Canine Coaching (Dog Training)
Is your dog out of control? Have you searched the internet only to be more confused on how to train your dog? Did you go to the pet store and were overwhelmed by the number of training tools they have? Let one of the Just Fur Babies’ Canine Coaches help you cut through the jargon and show you how to enrich your dog so they are happier. We can show you which training tool will work best for your dog, how to properly fit it and more importantly how to use it so they can walk nicely on a leash. We will provide you with a strong foundation of basic training that you can build upon. Our coaches are here to help guide you through the self-motivating training program. Some concepts covered are basic obedience (sit, down, place, recall, etc.), loose leash walking, working walk (heel), resources on house training, crate training, resource guarding, basic handling, clicker training, dog to dog introductions, desensitization training and much more!
Coaching sessions will provide extensive reporting and videos for pet parents to review as well as homework for the family to work on together!
Pet First Aid, Safety & CPR Course
If your pet were in immediate danger, would you be prepared to save their life?
Emergency medical care for pets can take a long time to access. When your pet is bleeding, having trouble breathing, or loses consciousness, every second counts. Looking up information on the internet or You Tube could cost your pet’s life!
This fun, interactive program will give you the skills and confidence you need to act quickly and calmly when your pet is having a medical emergency. Veterinarian approved, 4-hour classroom training is taught by Kelly Detherow, Pet Pro Hero certified instructor.
Your 2 year Certificate of Completion will be certified in: Handling injured/ill pets; muzzling/restraint techniques; CPR/rescue breathing techniques; treating bleeding & wounds; dealing with bloat, bomiting, seizures and choking; handling heat stroke and hypothermia; burns and broken bones; poisoning and head to tail wellness check.
All class room set up is designed for social distancing so each student is comfortable in your own space. Each student will also receive a Pet First Aid/CPR handbook with color illustrations, your own first aid working materials and dog/cat to take home for future practice and reference.
