This is not just a hotel, but for now, a hip trendy spot for club-goers. We were here for our 30th anniversary, and the hotel plied us with some real nice prosecco. While we generally skewed older than the club demographic downstairs, we were pleased with this place and its funky, though sleek, vibe.||||Service was excellent, especially concierge and housekeeping, and the front desk people were very friendly. There's a good restaurant in the hotel, and you can also get great food next door at the Doug Fir, which has some top-notch live music as well. Not to mention, there are a whole bunch'a great eateries within walking distance on Burnside.||||My only two quibbles which, frankly, might not apply to you, are these:||||1. Since we were there for an entire week, we were disappointed that there are no drawers to stow our clothes. There's some modest space for hanging items, but we ended up living out of our suitcases for the week. Not ideal. If you're only there for a couple of days, this would not represent a problem. But I can't recall staying at a hotel where there weren't dressers. ||||2. The bathroom is only comprised of the toilet and the shower. Meaning, to get to the sink, you need to exit the bathroom and pad across the floor to an area adjacent to the beds. Again, I can't recall such a setup and don't see the logic in it.||||Clearly, these features are intentional. But for me, they detracted a bit from our stay.||||Would we come back? Yes, but probably not for a week. I know that some reviews attract responses from the management, and I'd be interested to know why the decisions were made to have no dressers and to have no sink in the bathroom. More...

What a find this was! The rooms are new, modern and comfortable. There are two bars downstairs and a fire place. At night the adjoining restaurant "Hey Love" was always busy. Fairly convenient location. Our room was ready early so we were able to drop our bags off and walk around the neighborhood. Lots of restaurants, etc. nearby. Check in/out staff were very friendly & helpful. The hotel is noisy, which we knew when we booked, as most back out onto where the Doug Fir lounge is but we only stayed the one night for a concert there. So this is now the third time I've stayed at Jupiter NEXT and I've enjoyed it each and every time. The room is a good size, the shower has good pressure (and a cut out in the glass to turn the shower on so that you don't get wet! ).||||It's also a trendy spot to hang. Both bars at the NEXT and literally across the street at the original Jupiter the Doug Fir Lounge is a really fun bar.||||I will say this past experience I noticed my room as an ADA room, which is fine, but the shower head (which was also a detachable handle) was really low, as you might expect. I asked to change rooms (partly because I'd feel guilty using an ADA room when I don't need it) and it was easy to do, so I appreciate the front desk's help. More...

We had 3 nights in the historic, mid century mod, building. Cute, cozy, and very nice. Cool and hip the renovations to this building are a real nod to the past. Rooms are smaller in the historic building so if you are traveling light, should be fine. If you are traveling heavy then you might find small. However, its location and proximity to the trams and bus lines is tremendous. They charge for parking to the tune of 32 bucks a night which i personally think is way too high but the parking meters don't require payment after 6pm so if you are out all day and get back after 6, just park on the street. Very special place. Oh and lastly they don't leave a mint on the bed side table, they leave special party favors. Lots of fun. More...

We stayed at Jupiter NEXT because we had stayed at Jupiter Hotel a few months ago on a visit to Portland. We decided to upgrade and go with NEXT and it was worth it! Everything is really clean, utilitarian, and beautiful. The beds were comfortable, but a bit small for us as we usually sleep in a king. Shower was fun, but not enough space for towels to stay dry. We had tickets to a show at Doug fir, and since it was my husband's birthday, we booked a room at Jupiter Hotel. I called to see if I could do early check in to decorate the room some, told Josh, the clerk on the phone, that it was my husband's birthday, and could we get a room with a view. He totally hooked us up. Thank you so much! The checking in process was super fast and easy. Even with a credit card, they charged a 90$ fee for damage. The hotel clerk at check in did not mention that but should have. The room was fantastic, with a 180 view of Portland downtown and part of Burnside Rd. It had a cool open shower, with a frosted glass back that let in just a smidge of natural light. With charging stations on the lamps, a nice king sized bed that was super comfy, a sitting area, small kitchenette, it fit the bill.Fresh coffee in the morning in the lobby. The downstairs restaurant and bar looks super cool, but we just ran out of time to check it out closer.I would write more but gotta run. Our experience was excellent and results in my recommendation. The staff is exceptional, and that alone is reason enough for us to return the next time we are in Portland . We appreciated being in walking distance to restaurants, shops, food truck courts, and The Goodfoot. The Doug Fir is conveniently next door and was hoppin', also with generous food and darn tasty cocktails and great service. We stayed on the top floor with a great view north. Decor is stylish and minimal (except for the ENORMOUS in-room TV); a scene-y lobby connected to the delicious Hey Love cafe/bar (highly recommend); complimentary (good!) coffee offered if you pop down to the lobby; earplugs are provided for light sleepers.
