Wedding photography was very important to my husband and I. Once we found Josh, we knew we had to have him at our wedding. He is absolutely amazing to work with and fun to be around. We met for an "engagement" shoot in the redwoods a few days before our wedding, and I was amazed by the photos he provided a few days later. Josh was great directing us and made sure the photos were not too posed and captured some great candids. I hate having my photo taken, but Josh made me feel amazing and the photos are incredible. I was expecting 3 photos in our preview a few days after the wedding, but he delivered over 100 stunning photos. I can't wait to see the rest of them. Writing this review has been one of the most important tasks I have had on my to do list since I got back from my intimate wedding in the woods. Yet I have the hardest time finding the right words to explain my experience with Josh. So I’ll just start by saying that he created an experience that went beyond every last one of my expectations. I knew before I even saw the photos that I made the right choice. He was patient, kind and encouraging. He laughed at terrible jokes and dealt with my very.... outlandish family. He found us the most incredible spot and was willing to meet the day before so we knew where to go. He was everything you could have hoped for in the person who would document the most important day of your life. And boy did he document. Within, I want to say 12 hours? He had a preview of close to 90 photos for us. 90! Edited and mind blowing photos from the various locations he took us to. And they made just about every person in my family cry. He so beautifully captured emotion, my good side, the complexity of all the colors I have on my body (thats tattoos for ya) and really managed to show the difference between the personality of my husband and of my own. I couldn’t recommend Joshua more and will find any reason to fly him down to my neck of the woods for more photos! More...

Josh is incredible to work with. My fiance and him coordinating our surprise proposal in Big Sur flawlessly. Big Sur has ZERO service so they had to prepare for every single detail and even had a second plan in case they weren't able to meet up with each other. Good news :) Josh found us and was able to caputre the entire moment. We shot for 1 hour after the proposal and it was a blast! Josh wasn't afraid to ask us to climb a cliff in our nice clothes to get some pretty spectacular shots and I am so happy he did! They are some of my favorite photos. This was my fiance and I's first photo shoot together and Josh was very patience and laughed with us as we navigated trying to be natural in front of a camera (and the wind). I cannot speak highly enough about Josh, his passionate creativity and his incredible work. Living across the country, I didn't know where to start with looking for a photographer. I quickly found Josh and fell in love with his style; his ability to capture light, scenery and moments you could only dream about seeing in pictures. I reached out and got an immediate response and set a phone date for a few days later. It was so refreshing to speak to someone so personable and kind. Josh was able to learn a bit more about us and understand the style of photos we wanted and immediately sent us over some spots to get our feedback - they were perfect places for us to shoot at! The big day arrived and we had a blast together! We felt as though we had known Josh for years, rather than just meeting. Besides the fact that Josh is an artist and really made our pictures look like art, he is suuuuch a nice guy! He's super likeable and easy to work with.
He understands how important your pictures are to you and makes you feel like you are the only thing that matters at that moment. He took his time with us, made us feel comfortable and never made us feel rushed. He went above and beyond to get the "right" shot (which ended up being so many for us). We shot in different locations and got different angles that demonstrated different feelings and moments.
Everyone has told us that our pictures are stunning and beautiful, but what is most important to me is that he captured us as we are. He caught so many pictures of us being candid. All our pictures look natural and the happiness and love we felt that day beams through.
In addition, he sent us a good portion of pictures the very next morning!
He is the best!!! Our engagement pictures were so amazing some people joked that we no longer need a wedding. :)

I found Josh on Instagram. I had booked an amazing yurt resort in Big Sur for the proposal I had planned. Only problem was, I had never been there, I had never met Josh, AND there was no cell service at the resort. Josh and I talked about a week before to figure out timing and location of where I’d be popping the question. To Josh’s credit, the whole thing went off without a hitch and we couldn’t have been happier with the shots we got. More importantly, Josh connected with both of us immediately. We felt so comfortable sharing such an intimate moment with him. He asked questions and made great conversation but allowed us to soak in that moment together. It really felt like we were hanging out with an old friend. We got everything done in less than an hour and just like that, it was all over. We live on the east coast and had a destination elopement in Big Sur on New Years Day. From our initial outreach to today Joshua has been very responsive and easy to work with. We had a call in advance to work out some of the details of where and when we'd meet. He was familiar with the resort where we stayed and had suggestions for where we might get some good shots. We loved that Joshua was receptive to our requests and ideas for what we wanted to capture, but also offered great guidance and recommendations for shots that would look nice and locations to shoot. He was quick to turn around a handful of nice shots right away so we could share our great news with family and friends. The rest of our album was ready in 2 and half weeks. Joshua exceeded our expectations. Our wedding album is just stunning and so so beautiful. We truly cannot thank him enough for the wonderful experience at the Carmel Mission. From the moment we saw his website we looked no further and booked him immediately (luckily he was available).
