You will not find a better architect to work with on a residential remodel/construction project in the New Rochelle area. John is the best ! My wife and I bought a fixer-upper on the north end of New Rochelle in early 2017 and got in touch with John shortly thereafter to draw up plans for the gut remodel. John's years of experience enabled him to bring vision and valuable input to the project. He brought many design/aesthetic suggestions to the planning process and was also able to provide practical solutions to some interesting issues that we ran into. He and his team worked efficiently with us to draw up the remodel plans and met with us weekly to review and revise them based on our input and discussions. John is also extremely well versed in City of New Rochelle building codes and regulations, which helped us make sure we never ran into any issues with the building inspectors. John and his team are also great communicators, always timely responding to calls/text messages/emails with answers to our questions - and anyone that has been through a remodel/construction project will tell you that this is essential! John also worked collaboratively with our contractor to make sure the project ran smoothly, which is another important factor to consider when selecting an architect - you don't want to have to play telephone between your architect and your contractor!To say that we were happy with our experience working with John on the gut renovation of our home would be a gross understatement. John came highly recommended by several friends in the community, all that have used him. From our first meeting, I was very impressed with his knowledge of our style house. We did a decent size expansion on our house, along with remodeling almost every room in the house. John was always on time for appointments and came prepared to discuss his ideas as well as listen to our wishes. John knew the inner workers better than I did. John also was able to fix drainage issues we have been having due to the high water table. Our backyard is now usable. John handled all of the permitting from start to finish. We ran into a little problem with the city while trying to close the permits, but thankfully for John's experience and knowledge, he was able to rectify the issue with no cost or change in plans. I won't use anyone else for my projects than John. We first met him when we had to tear down and rebuild a garage. His design and leadership gave us exactly what we wanted while at the same time keeping the integrity of our old house. He came up with ideas that we wouldn't have even thought of to do. A few year's later we needed to gut and redo half of our first floor, including a kitchen. He took his time during our initial planning meetings to listen to what we wanted and created a design that went beyond our wildest dreams of what it could be. John designed our basement renovation project, and it was fantastic working with him. He was very patient with us as we went back and forth on design possibilities within a space with a number of constraints. In the end, his design managed to meet all of our many needs. He was responsive and available through every step of the project, from initial brainstorming through filing the final permits upon completion. He also worked very well with our general contractor. I highly highly recommend him!We are beyond THRILLED, ELATED, GRATEFUL, AND OVER-THE-MOON about the design for our home addition. It’s AMAZING. We did a 3-story addition on the back of our Tudor home (originally built in 1929) in New Rochelle. We met with 4-5 architects and we were so happy to have picked John. He made every element of our project so much better. He made it look better than we ever thought was possible. It was a big job with redoing 3 bathrooms, a full gut job on the kitchen and a complete demolition of our basement. John was the only architect that spoke to us about what was realistic. All the other architects that we interviewed said "yes" to everything we wanted to do, and John talked to us about how some things were not possible. He developed a wonderful design that made everything so much better. We also did a whole new deck, stone patio and spiral staircase. John was phenomenal with his direction and advice about design, being practical and how to tackle the bathrooms and the kitchen. He has a wonderful design aesthetic and he got a sense of what we liked and had amazing options for us. He also knows what will pass the zoning board which is incredibly helpful and crucial to the success of a project. We are so very happy with how everything turned out and looks.Given the three-story addition onto the back of an old house, there were some structural elements that required care and time (i.e. steel structural beams). John handled everything so expertly. He managed our expectations and was a wonderful partner with the entire project. I have the highest praise possible for John.
