Very cute space, they have done a lot with such a small area to work with. The food is excellent - this was the best NE clam chowder I've had in a long time, and The Ardsley (chicken salad with red seedless grapes, pecans, green onions, fresh rosemary and tarragon served on a croissant) was delicious. They also have a lovely selection of teas. I enjoyed a chilled concoction with Belarusian tea.We took a selection of desserts home, and they were good, but not as spectacular as the meals they offer. I probably would not get dessert there again. The customer service is absolutely on point! "The Joe's" (there are several) obviously care very deeply about their business and consumer relations, and that is evident by the way you are treated from the mentioned you enter the shop. Stopped by for lunch today, glad I did! I ordered the ultimate grilled cheese, and it was so fresh and delicious! The chips and grapes paired with it made it the perfect meal. Ate lunch here today and it is really so lovely, Tim and Don are some of the best servers I've ever encountered, and importantly our lunch was delicious. This little hole in the wall place is fantastic! 4-5 tables inside, so things can get a little cramped with moving around, but the customer service is awesome. I really can't say enough about the team that works here. Every team member that they had working came out to see how things were throughout the visit. All I can think of is DELICIOUS! I hate to write a review because I selfishly want it all to myself & the few who already know. It's ridiculously delicious! Plus the Chef & staff are delightful! Our waiter, we asked if he was Joe & he replied "we're are Joe", was amazing! Very nice guy, explained everything, made suggestions by asking what we liked & described the menu & desserts like someone in a very, very fancy restaurant! He was wonderful! Plus we came in just before closing & they didn't mind at all! Very welcoming. My only complaint is that it's a tiny place, but that's also what makes it so special!!! Will be back again & again! Oh my goodness! What a gem this place is! My daughter and I were looking for a healthy and delicious place to have a celebratory lunch after her gymnastics meet in Savannah, and we were lucky to find Joe's Homemade Cafe!
The food and service is incredible! Joe, Don, and Tim were so nice and checked on us regularly. You can tell they are proud of the quality of their menu items and that they've put a lot of love and hard work into preparing their food...
and the desserts are absolutely out of this world! My daughter and I are really big-time foodies and enjoyed every aspect of our meal. It started with the Belarusian Iced Tea, perfectly flavored with delightful spices that you wanted to savor with every sip. They even served, on the house, sesame crackers with a tomato jam that was unbelievably addicting! I had the black bean burger and side salad. My daughter had the grilled cheese with veggies and fruit. We also ordered the cucumber and salmon soup! We shared it all and loved every bite! The flavors and the intense desire to making every bite perfectly balanced is quite obvious! We ended the meal sharing an almond cheesecake and the fudge brownie torte. Just when we thought they couldn't outdo themselves.....eating that cheesecake was a heavenly experience....creamy, light, and fluffy, with a hint of almond. Yum! We ate each bite as slowly as possible. The fudge brownie torte was also amazing with its buttercream icing. We even ordered extra dessert to take home all the way to Virginia for the rest of the family to try! We highly recommend you check out Joe's Homemade when you are in Savannah! You will be happy you did!
