First of all, I would like to say I love June her energy is amazing. She help me to understand the layout of my living room and help me to put it together. My favorite part of my apartment is the living room and I can’t get enough of it. I feel June is like a friend to me now every time I see cute things I want to send it to her to ask her approval. She’s incredible. More...

I recently worked with June for an interior design project. She had some good suggestions for my apartment and I thought she had a fine eye for furniture selections that I would not have necessarily thought of. I implemented some of these suggestions and am pleased with them.

She fell short in terms of measurements and other logistics, and some of these oversights cost me time and money. We deliberated extensively about a dining table size before I ordered one, only to realize later that it was an impractical choice. I wish that this had been evaluated before I paid for it and scheduled a delivery. I was hoping to avoid these types of mistakes by working with a designer. I also wish she had a better process for visualizing layouts to see how an entire look would come together in a floor plan.  It was tough for me to do so with some of the floorplans sent over.

She also connected me with a vendor that dropped a surprise $350 charge for a certificate of insurance for delivery the business day before it was scheduled to be delivered. Never before have I paid $350 for a certificate of insurance. She sounded surprised that one was required for my building and refused to ask the vendor about this.

My response, is not intended to denigrate the client. I am responding to this review in the best, possible way keeping in mind that I am grateful for constructive criticism but feel there are always 2 sides to a story. Firstly, Measurements regarding the dining table were correct but the client had decided on chairs which she and her husband were very sure they wanted which were perfect measurements for this table but right at the end changed their minds. The other chairs I suggested would still have fitted but you would need a chair at the heads of the table. The client actually decided to return the table as she then decided that she wanted to get a less expensive table, this had nothing to do with measurements. Secondly, I did many layouts and presentations for the space which the client was happy with. When she signed with me she asked if I could do consulting only , not a full Interior service and she wanted a reduced fee. Therefore, I did not do any 3d drawings as this was not included in the contract. Thirdly, all and any delivery costs from suppliers and other entities are always for the clients expense. The client had arranged all the deliveries except for the custom piece I had made with my supplier. She did not inform us until the day before delivery that her building required delivery insurance. This, I was not aware of, as she was arranging all the deliveries as per our agreement of the contract. My Millworker had already giving her free delivery and now she wanted him to pay for the delivery insurance. These expenses are not for the suppliers unless it has been agreed to prior. I feel that this response is fair and true to both sides.

June was great to work with from the start. She had so many amazing ideas for the space she was able to help me bring to life. With the loose vision I presented to her and her keen eye for detail and style June created a place I'm excited to come home to. If you are thinking about hiring a decorator, or someone to help with renovations for your apartment, home, or commercial space you'd be missing out if you don't have June. She was easy to work with, efficient, and I couldn't be happier with the results. Thanks June! Will be using her again in the future! More...

Q&As

It will depend on the size of the loft. Generally speaking a suitable height would be 8 ft.
It does add around 20% value to your home.

Confirm the design.
Depending on your property (listed, conservation, heritage) an architect maybe needed for planning permission.
If this is so, getting the permits for permission would be priority.
Starting with the exterior work which would involve minimal mess inside. If any changes are to be made to the roof.
We would then move inside to install the staircase, remove or add any walls, flooring, windows, built in closets and the door.
The final finishing off, painting and decorating.

1. Initial contact and briefing of design and or decorating desired.
2. Concept , design and approval.
3. Ordering / purchasing of products.
4. Paperwork, permits if required for building work.
5. Renovation if required ( demo, electrical , plumbing and carpentry work ) flooring. Finish of walls - paint and or wallpaper.
6. Delivering of product
7. Installation and finish list.

I generally can work to the desired brief given. Although, my own personal style is eclectic as I love mixing up styles, color and finding the right balance.

I have been in the decorating and design business on and off for around 20 years but have been consistent in Interior design for the last 15 years. Working globally in Cape Town, South Africa. Dubai, UAE and in New York.

My personal work I make sure that the client is 100% happy before we sign off but if for any reason they would like to change something I would absolutely oblige. Products and appliances generally will come with their own guarantee.

I love being creative and challenged. To deliver a project to the client, feeling proud and happy in getting the brief, if not exactly but as close to what they have envisioned and the client absolutely loving their space.
This is for me is the best and most rewarding.

I like to feel in control and responsible for creating wonderful, energy spaces. Having worked on and off for myself and for other companies over the years, I feel with my own company I can develop a more personal relationship and understanding of the client, which leads to delivering the desired brief.

I listen to the clients to make sure I understand exactly what their needs and desires are, therefore ensuring they will get the best service, design and space. I will go the extra mile to make sure that the clients love their space and are completely happy with what I have delivered.
