AWESOME! Words can't express how satisfied we were with Von Sydow. From the estimating process (which was spot on) to the crews that moved everything. Very happy with the move of our business from Batavia to St. Charles. Best decision ever to hire Von Sydow's. My move was a fairly small one. My parents had both passed and we were selling their house. I needed to move some extremely sentimental items from their home in Chicago to mine in San Diego. The first company I hired was beyond awful. Not only did they make me feel like I was a burden to them, they didn't show up (not once, but twice!). So I turned to Von Sydow's, who I originally did not think would handle a smaller move. Great experience. The 3 men that helped me took a minimal amount of time moving the furniture and boxes and the man packing the POD was unbelievably good. Our decision to hire Van Sydow’s Moving was the right one. Although we did 98% of our own packing they provided boxes at incredibly low prices. I know this because I sold packaging and boxes before retiring and nothing came even close. And the boxes could be sold back as well. In addition, they provided crating services for our glass topped tables and large electronics within 48 hours of our move. The process was professional and fast and not a bit of damage was detected at the end of our move. Von Sydow’s even stored our goods in Illinois while we house hunted and closed on our home in Arizona. This saved us money since we did not need to store our goods in Arizona had they shipped when we arrived here 2 months before we had a home to move into. They made it easy and we felt well cared for. These guys did an excellent job on a local move. Not a single thing was lost or damaged in the process and everything was put back in place. The move took two days. They were on time each day, ready to work! Everyone there is very professional. Out of 4 competing bids, Von Sydow came in with the lowest and most comprehensive estimate. While at our home initially, Jim came up with several good suggestions on how to make the move go easier and for less $. Nobody else did that! They were even willing to work on a Saturday at no extra charge. I don't know if it is STILL that way, very unexpected but GREATLY appreciated! That helped us be out of our old home right when we needed and not have to pay for storage before arrival to the new one. We woke up one day sleeping at our old house and that night went to bed in the new house. When the final bill was presented, it was actually lower than the estimate! I am sure that doesn't happen every time, but, it was a pleasant surprise!Everything was wrapped and protected, the crew was very safe and treated us with the utmost respect.The moving business is a TOUGH industry, the work is very physical and demanding, it is extremely hard to find good help. The industry gets a bad reputation due to some shady players and government oversight that, well, let's face it, is slow moving and very bureaucratic. If you don't know someone in the business, it is hard to know who you can trust. We had a flawless experience. First, Jim Schwantz explained the whole process and gave great tips and information. On moving day, we were worried because of the rain, but it went flawlessly. We interviewed and received quotes from 3 different moving companies and decided on Von Sydow. The guy who quoted us is also the Mayor of Palatine! My sister and another friend had used Von Sydow and were very satisfied. We had a 4-man crew to move out, with Curtis and his team. They were polite, friendly and very efficient. We have a lot of fragile, antique furniture and they were very careful to wrap everything securely. I've unpacked almost everything and nothing was broken. When they wrested a humongous heavy rolltop desk down the stairs, they had to watch the hand railing going down a long flight of stairs but left a tiny scuff on the wall. We have used this moving company twice ...Once 13 yrs ago and again recently . They moved everything in our home perfectly , right on schedule as promised . The quote was accurate both times and they were less expensive than 3 other quotes i had . We had very heavy furniture. allot of glass and breakable things in our home and everything got to both homes perfect. Nothing broke . They event took the time to help me take down a last minute wall mount shelf in our garage. When we moved out of Palatine we requested the same moving crew to move us to Lake Barrington a few days later . They PACKED & moved me from a high-rise apartment building to a town home with FOUR staircases.
