Jerk; that it is. The chicken quarters was completely tender and juicy, even a day later for leftovers. Everything I tasted was great. The jerk rub reminded me of Jamaican travels but could have a little bit more tang to it. They sauces were exactly as the workers described to me; not necessarily a jerk sauce, but all complimentary to the jerk food itself. Yum! That's Jamaican, it shouldn't need a sauce if it's already jerk. The staff were awesome, got the orders correct & very friendly! More...

Great Great food! I have been to Jerk quite a few times, and have had great meals. The staff is very friendly, and the jerk fries and mac / cheese ROCK! I really have no idea what spices they use on their meats, but the flavors are amazing. This might be the first Jamaican place I have been to in Chicago, and it was incredible! More...

Went in on memorial day around 8pm. Ordered2 jerk chicken quarters, 2 coconut rices, 2 corn and beans, 2 mac n cheeses, 2 plantains and 2 fountain drinks. We were offered and given all the sauces and extra forks/napkins. We had not even finished filling our drinks at the station (the have one of those soft drinks dispensers that have all the different kinds of drinks) and our order was ready! Food tastes great too, overall very very satisfied with my service and food from here I couldn't wait to write the review :D More...

Had the jerk chicken quarter, rice and beans and beef patty. Beef patty was excellent...good spice to it. Jerk chicken was ok. ..did not have the authentic taste I was expecting, but I understand this is a modern take on this classic. It was good, just wasn't crazy about the table sauces, as one of them wasn't a regular jerk bbq sauce. Festival was very good. Meal was good, just expected something else. More...

Absolutely excellent. Food: I ordered the chicken quarters ($10.45) and this included a quarter of a chicken, a slice of bread (white) Jamaican coleslaw, a sweet bread roll thing and a side. For the side I got the Mac and cheese (mouth watering). A few words about all of this. The chicken was DELICIOUS. Spicy, perfectly tender, not dry, and aromatic. If you would like to pair the chicken with a sauce, throughout the restaurant there are caddys loaded with delicious choices. I personally liked the green looking one. The slaw, sweet bread and Mac where all delicious and each had a unique flavor. Jamaican food is bomb. Atmosphere: med-loud Jamaican style music, friendly staff (great service), clean, restrooms available. Highly recommend. Price: it's the city. Entrees start at $9.95. It's not horrible, but even if you think it is, it's worth it. More...

Nice ambiance and good food! I order the garden salad with jerk chicken, and my Husband ordered the jerk turkey leg. Our sides were the plantains and jerk mac! Great flavor to it all, but a litttle overpriced for a casual restaurant.
Con: bathrooms need to be presentable at all times.

I think that the name Modern Jerk fits the the food. It's not traditional Jamaican food but it taste good. The ribs were tender and I enjoyed the jerk fries. The barbeque sauce was good too. The atmosphere was cool, music was nice, slightly loud(guest should be able to talk to one another at the table).I think that they should play more reggae,at least 50% reggae. The downfalls which can be easily changed is that I did not like the jar that is given for drinks, it is kind of offensive to the Jamaican culture as if in Jamaica people drink out of mason jars. The table signs that were used instead of numbers of the Parrish should be made of a better material, maybe crafted wood of the Island carved with the Parrish on each one.Wet naps can be a plus. I don't know if the wait staff wait tables or just bring it to the guest or changes were made for the event. Overall I can say that it was a cool place to try. The prices were reasonable and the staff was very friendly. Most likely me and my neighbor may stop in again for a bite and a drink since it's in our neighborhood.
Oh and the drinks were Nice!!
CHECK OUT JERK MODERN !! The staff is COOL!

I went out on a limb to try something different and I do not like spicy food....like at all.
I can't compliment the staff, beer/drink options and last but not least, the food enough! !! Food was incredible. It was infact spicy, however, it had amazing flavor so I ACTUALLY ATE IT!!! For those like me who are a bit more sensitive to spice, they have a mayo base aioli that toned it down enough for me to enjoy...an was truly delightful!! What a pleasant surprise.
Loved the Red, White and Blue drink and Clover Club. Both fruity wine and beer were delicious!
Can't have rave enough!! Price was right on. This will be on our must stop list for Chicago!
