Jay's Catering was such a pleasure to work with for my husband's and my wedding. A little back story- like many other couples this year, our original wedding date had been cancelled due to the pandemic. When we our new date, we only had 1-2 months to start planning with our new venue Hangar 21. Fortunately, it was very easy to book the venue as Jays Catering is the catering company that is packaged with the venue. This combination with Jay's Catering and Hangar 21 saved us a lot of stress. Lauren, the event specialist we worked with from Jay's, was beyond helpful. We communicated mostly by email and just loved how organized and accommodating she was. She did a fantastic job coordinating our event and were so happy that she was our main contact at Jay's. Some other things that we loved about Jays Catering was their menu selection choice, amenities, and of course all the deliciousness!  They have different menu selections styles such as Latin, Italian, and Southern and they offer the choice between served meals and buffet. We ended up going with their buffet style Asian menu and all our guests loved this choice. Our guests especially raved to us about the hors d'oureves. For bar service, we ended up doing their premium bar menu. Our signature cocktails were a melon mule and lavender infused lemonade which were so delicious. We were worried about our guests not having enough alcohol (as I've heard can happen at weddings), but happy report that we had enough! In addition, it's such a great value to have all the amenities that they have as a package such as the silverware and chairs. Their choice in silverware and chairs were very nice and glad we didn't have to rent these things from another company. Also have to add, that we were very happy with the professionalism and customer service from our event captain, Aaron, and the wait staff/bartenders on the day of. Our guests had nothing but good things to say about the service and we didn't have any issues with getting food out to them during dinner. Aaron also made sure my husband and I were fed on the day of and served us our drinks and hors d'oureves while we were waiting in our bridal suite. All in all, my husband and I would highly recommend Jays Catering! More...

Thank you to Sierra Sprague at Jays's Catering for helping us plan our Celebration of Life for our son.  Jay's provided a beautiful spread of pastries first thing in the morning as well as 150+ Covid friendly boxed lunches that our guests could help themselves. The service was outside in a park like setting at the church and everyone enjoyed the picnic atmosphere after the service.  We have always loved Ellie's table near our home and the catering for the memorial was equally as delicious. Planning a wedding through the pandemic (COVID-19) has been very difficult for my wife and I. We planned so much only to change almost everything a couple months before the actual wedding date. From decreasing our guest count (our choice) to making sure every situation during the wedding was safe for our guests, Jay's catering made it so much easier for us and accommodated to our requests, even though they were last minute changes. We chose not to do the buffet style reception and went with boxed dinners instead and the food was still delicious. The venue just opened up a beautiful/large bar area in the back that can be used for many different events. Our first look on the second floor was beautiful. It was seriously such a blessing and privilege to work with Sierra and the rest of the team. Sierra was extremely helpful throughout the whole process. Without her, this wedding would not happened the way my wife and I wanted. THANK YOU to Sierra and the rest of Jays Catering! We had our wedding at Hangar 21 South and everything went so great! Our families couldn't stop talking about how great the appetizers and main courses were. We had the southwest chicken and the vegetarian stuffed portobello mushroom. OMG that mushroom! The chicken was great too! We even did the coffee and donut bar for dessert and everyone though it was such a treat. I highly recommend Jay's Catering even if you aren't getting married. My husband and I were recently married in March and we LOVE the Estate on Second! Everything was AMAZING! The staff was so great and there were some select staff members that were extra attentive to our needs. We were so impressed that we were served dinner, that one of the servers kept coming up to us, asking if we needed anything. One of the bartenders knew my drink of choice and even handed it to me as I walked by from the photo booth! It's those extra special moments where we could tell they went above and beyond to provide excellent customer service. And the food, OH MY GOODNESS! We cannot stop raving about how incredibly delicious it was (That brisket and wasabi mashed potatoes! 100% confident we chose the best menu!) Even our family and friends are talking about how amazing it was! The cake was so gorgeous and probably the best we had ever eaten! It was more beautiful than I could have imagined, it brought tears to my eyes. The bartenders were the best ever and our guests were so happy about the open bar, haha. The tastiest drinks! 2/16/2020 WeddingMy wife and I found and picked Jay's Catering through our wedding venues list of caterers they work with. Our venue being The Casino San Clemente. We actually researched Jay's first and set up a tasting with them. The Estate on Second Taste of Jay's sold us immediately. The  grub was delicious and the venue it was hosted out was cool. Now the important part; the food we enjoyed the most were the tacos. We sampled them with homemade tortillas of different meat variations and a toppings bar. The desserts, especially the cupcakes, also stuck out. The tasting is also when we met Brittany Klein who ended up being our Event Specialist. Brittany was helpful and assisted clearing up everything we asked. This included setting up an appointment for a live sample of table layout upgrades and wedding cake tastings. She constantly worked with us to prepare the buffet and appetizer spread we wanted for our special day. Also she let us get a delish three tier cake that had two sections Carrot Cake (the wife pick) and one almond cake with chocolate filling (my pick). Final walkthrough with Brittany was very nice and let us get a clear picture of all table set-ups. We had more than enough food for the 70 guests that attended and everyone was served quickly so that they were able to enjoy dancing to the band.  Jenny was great at returning calls if I had questions and even let me rent the table linens as well. Will definitely consider them again if the need arises! I did a pick-up order for 9am the Saturday morning of the event, the food was already ready when I got there at 8:45am, and it was all loaded up into my car for me by staff. All the muffins and fruit were boxed for transport, and the hot food was all in styrofoam carriers. The food was still piping hot when served an hour and a half later. We ordered the Early Bird off the menu ($11/person), which included a Deep Dish Bacon Quiche, Breakfast Potatoes, Assorted Muffins, and Fresh Fruit. Definitely have mixed feelings toward Jay's Catering. We booked our wedding at Hangar 21 North, which is managed/exclusively run by Jay's Catering so there was no way to bring in an outside caterer. We went to two Taste of Jay's events (open to the couples who are considering booking a Jay's venue, you can taste a bunch of their catering options) and we liked the food, beverage and setup enough to move forward.Once you commit, you're assigned a Jay's point person who will prepare proposals, go over menu options, create your venue floor plan, and is basically your go-to person for the wedding day when it comes to food. Our person was Patti R. and in hindsight, we would've asked for a different person to be assigned to us. Overall, Patti was a bit disorganized, forgetful, email communications were inconsistent, and she was actually on vacation the week of our wedding and we had no idea and had no backup person to contact in case of questions. We emailed her the week of our wedding and got an out of office message. The wedding day: on our final walk through of the venue with Patti and Sarah Rose (Venue Director), we were told multiple times that all the Jay's setup (tables, linens, chairs, etc.) would be completed and ready before the rest of our vendors arrived. That was NOT the case. When we arrived at the venue during setup time, the Jay's crew were still setting up, which pushed all our other vendors back on their setup as well. The food was good - we chose the taco bar, paella station, mac and cheese station, and donuts for dessert. No complaints about the food, and Aaron, our event captain, was amazing! He brought us plates of all the food options, which was so appreciated, otherwise we would not have eaten! Open bar was very fairly priced, bartenders were super friendly and there were always staff walking around to clear plates and refill water. It's hard to separate between Jay's and Hangar 21 management- but keep in mind that they are SUPER strict on setup and breakdown time. One of our vendors wasn't able to breakdown within the allotted one hour time and we were charged an overage fee by Jay's. They are also very strict about outside food vendors (extra fees for everything, and an outside bakery must be licensed) so it may not be worth it to go that route. We LOVED our wedding venue and our wedding day, but there were a lot of things during the planning phases with Jay's that we were not happy about. Was so excited to use them and then so incredibly disappointed. Had never used Jay's but was a longtime lover of Ellie's table. Was excited to use them to cater my daughters birthday party. Provided Jay's with our guest count and that we wanted to use a modified "tea menu" without the desserts. They suggested the number of sandwiches and salads we needed. I ordered that + a few extra because I always have a fear of running out of food. Also added the executive setup because I wanted a stress free day. Long story short, I was in shock when the food arrived an hour before our event and was probably meant to serve about 15 people..... nothing close to our 40 person guest count. Had to send my husband on an emergency Costco run 30 minutes before our party to purchase a sandwich platter..... even with supplementing with Costco we ran out of food. I was absolutely horrified. Sandwiches were probably the size of a 1/4 of a sandwich with a single slice of meat..... not sure how jay's expected each guest to have 2 pieces (equivalent of half a sandwich!) and call that lunch. What really upset me, though, is that the caterer tried to blame it on me when I expressed my frustration the following day. They told me that was the quantity I signed off on so.... sorry, but you're SOL. Wow! It is your job as a caterer to make a recommendation as to how much food I need for an event given my guest count! Not only did I take you suggestion, but I added more! The customer services at the end was the worst part. Wish I could comment on the quality of the food, but neither my husband nor I ate any of the food since there wasn't enough. Guests said it was fine, but nothing great.I would have considered trying you again had you done the right thing after the fact, but your lack of customer service and blaming me afterward sealed the deal. If I could give 0 stars I would. Yelp probably wont even show my review unless I put more stars... I went to an event with Jay's catering tonight for a wedding at the estate on second in Fullerton. Food was great. Service for food was great. However, the bartender I met was the rudest individual I have ever met in my life. I do not know his name but he was a tall Caucasian male. This is a wedding mind you. A place of celebration and joy. We all lined up in front of the bar at cocktail hour. Everyone got their drinks and when it came to me, the tall bartender asked me for my ID. I found this strange since he never asked anyone else for their ID. He told me he couldn't serve me if I didn't have my ID (while serving everyone else who he didn't even ask for their ID). My ID was in my car but I didn't want to walk all the way back to to my car which was parked pretty far. So, I got back in line while I pulled up a picture of my passport. When I got back to the front, I asked him politely, "would this be okay?" and I showed him my passport. Out of nowhere he responds, "when I ask for your ID, you need to give me your ID, not pull up some random picture. I can't serve you unless you show me ID. It's against the law." It wasn't necessarily what he said but the way he said it along with the hypocrisy of serving everyone else drinks without carding them. How does he know if he didn't break the law serving minors alcohol? I ignored him and then continued to try to enjoy the rest of the night. Later in the night my fiance came up to me and gave me the rest of her beer since she didn't want to finish it. I drank it. The moment I did, that rude bartender walked over to me and swiped the beer from my table and said, "I can't serve you if you don't show me your ID." He said this while serving countless drinks throughout the night without asking for ID. The hypocrisy of his actions was mind boggling. I write this review in the hopes that Jay's Catering would teach that bartender some customer service. I understand (slightly) if this was a bar in downtown and it was packed with rude customers. But this was a wedding! A small one at that. I also was as polite as I could be. It is unfortunate but I will not be pursuing Jay's Catering for my wedding. I would not want my guests to experience such rudeness on such a special night that I experienced today.Sincerely,Andrew More...

I recently used Jays catering for my wedding and I could not be happier with how everything turned out. From beginning to end Brittany was incredibly helpful and made the planning process stress free. We chose to do a plated dinner, passed appetizers, a grilled cheese station at happy hour (which was a HUGE hit) and the donut and coffee bar. We also had our cake designed and created by Jays. Again we couldn't be happier with how everything tuned out and I am so glad we chose Jays! More...

Our wedding was held at The Estate on Second, where catering was exclusively provided by Jay's Catering.  At first, it may be constricting, but for us it was convenient as both entities worked hand in hand seamlessly. Highlights:- food was great, from the appetizers to the dessert (and cake!)- our event specialist, Arielle, was helpful, approachable, and sincerely cared that our wedding would be special not only for us but for our guests.  She made it so easy to put our event together, and pressure free as well.  Mind you, the planning timeline was only 6 months, which is a short amount of time for some people. She was very professional, but at the same time I felt like I was talking to a friend or family member who was there for us.  She communicated well, and never made me feel silly when I thought I had random/unique questions or requests. - Kat, the event captain for our wedding, made sure we had our special requests for our event, as well as a special diet for one of our guests was taken care of.  She was so sweet and kind. She made sure we knew that she was available for us all night. - Theresa, the young lady that took care of me and my husband during cocktail hour and dinner, making sure we were fed and were hydrated. She was super on top of us! Thank you!Downsides/Proceed with caution:- bar package is mandatory -- we would rather have had a bar tab and widen the options from sodas all the way to mixed drinks. Nonetheless, we opted for the soft bar as we don't have a lot of guests that drink and sadly I don't think we consumed the amount we were charged for the bar.  If your party likes to drink, then you'll win out on this option.- it is on the pricier side -- but with the reputation, portion size (appropriate size, not crazy tiny or crazy huge), and quality, it is a fair price.  I compared it with other reputable caterers in the area and I felt that they were the best in quality with their price point.  I can't speak for their buffet style, but their plated dinner satisfied our guests.  We had more than enough food to feed everyone and leftovers as well. We felt that the selection of food was beyond your typical wedding fare, and the portions were appropriate.  It was neat to get to go to Taste of Jay's because it allowed us to see how the food would be like when cooked for a large volume of people.  You can get a nicely cooked tasting/sampling meal with just you and your fiancé(e) and perhaps a couple other people, but I feel like it wouldn't necessarily be representative of the meals cooked on the day of, considering the volume of people in an event. At Taste of Jay's they're cooking for nearly as much, if not more than the number of people attending your event.  They do offer a private tasting for a fee if the meal of interest was not at the Taste of Jay's event.  To us, it was not necessary as they had a wide array of food choices for us to select from.  They did not have cake tasting at this event, but we were able to pick up samples of the cakes to try at home so we can do it leisurely and privately without the pressure of being at the catering office.  When we picked up our samples, that was also when we went over the place settings as well.We really liked that there are so many options on how to cater the event: small plates/stations, buffet, family style, or plated.  We were actually tempted to do family style versus plated.  It was easy to pick and choose for our cocktail hour apps as well as our curated dessert table.  I would recommend Jay's for catering to anyone.Tips for brides:- Allow time for your event specialist to get back to you -- they are juggling several events and have meetings and so forth. We didn't have this problem, but I can see how sometimes one can expect an instantaneous reply. Our turnaround time was anywhere from 10 minutes to 1 day for emails or phone calls. - Ask all the questions, they have heard it all, but be prepared for an answer you might not like.  If you have a special request, ask if it's possible, but don't be butt-hurt if they can't make it work out for you.We are so appreciative of the professionalism of the entire team. Thank you! More...
