Had a surprise 30th birthday party for my wife last night. It was a really good time. They have open bar specials with options of 5 appetizers or 3 appetizers and two meal options. I went with the five appetizers, buffalo bits, pulled pork nachos, baked clams, mozzarella sticks, and potato skins. All the food was great and the management along with the wait staff was very nice and very accommodating. They have two options for parties on the 2nd floor with bar areas and one side has its own private bathroom as well. I would highly recommend this place for a party. More...

I went here on a whim with my friend and we weren't disappointed. We had their poutine witch was rather tasty and for dinner I had their crispy buttermilk chicken sandwich. Came here for some drinks and apps on a Friday night. I've been to patchogue a few times and never knew this place was so close ! The place is really big and very nice. We got here by 9 and it wasn't super busy. We grabbed a table outside. The food was really good and came very hot. Really big bar. Bartenders were friendly. Once 1030/11 rolled around tons of people started coming and the music was actually really good. A little bit of a younger crowd but definitely will be back next time we are in patchogue ! More...

I haven't eaten here yet so I can't attest to the menu but I come here to dance and drink on the weekends with my girl friends. It can be bittersweet because it's so popular it can tough getting to the bar sometimes to get a drink order in. Took my hubby here for the very first time on Father's Day... love the decor! Was kind of amazed that they didn't have Fish 'N Chips on the lunch menu ( ) but we asked nicely if it might be possible to get some anyway. John, our waiter, went to ask the chef and he said yes - very nice! I had the Scotch egg (delicious, tender inside with a crispy outer crust) and hubby had wings (also yummy - I stole one!) and we both enjoyed the hell out of our fish 'n chips. Extra points for bringing the malt vinegar to the table without being asked. I really wished I didn't have to go to work that afternoon, because I would have loved to try some of their beer.... next time, for sure. Those were the pros... the cons list is short, but it's fair to mention that:1. The price point is high. 2 unsweetened iced teas, 1 wings app, 1 scotch egg, 2 fish 'n chips - $73! (And that's not counting the tip...) Whew!! If there were cocktails or beer on that tab, it would have been even higher.2. The "chips" are kind of lackluster. They should be the really fat steak fries, not skinny fries. If you've got to serve skinny chips with the fish, then make them extra crispy and throw some seasoning on them, maybe?Bonus Suggestion: Add fish 'n chips to your lunch menu! It's totally lunch!! Probably the most spectacular addition to the restaurant scene on Long Island in many years. This cavernous gem with 25 foot ceilings and two party balconies, happens to have some of the best artwork displayed in what will inevitably be a landmark for generations. Long Island has been waiting for this. Something above and way beyond the ordinary. This is literally Europe at it's best in Patchogue. From the decor to the amazing food, to the outstanding drink selections, but most importantly for that magic that very few can create - the atmosphere. Go there any night and I challenge you to find anything that beats it. Plus, they just got recognized for being at the forefront of the "going green" revolution, and on top of everything else, the owners from Ireland are just good hard working guys. What more could you ask for :)( PS; I just saw some of the negative reviews mentioning bias. The only explanation is that there was some misunderstanding there. I know these guys for decades and anyone who knows them knows they are the most unbiased and welcoming guys you will ever meet to EVERYONE. Literally. If you feel wronged, give them the opportunity to make it right. Go back and have a conversation. You will be very surprised. And I bet, you will leave with a friend for life ) More...

My Fiancé and I had our engagement party at James Joyce last night. I cannot thank Stephanie (Manager) enough for her attentiveness and eagerness to make sure they met our expectations. The food was absolutely amazing and my friends and family especially raved over the chicken fingers and quesadillas. Stephanie touched base with me throughout the night, made sure I ate and even had her team help with bringing anything we needed to take home to our car. Came here on a recommendation and was not disappointed. The service was outstanding. They had a rush of people for a local show and the staff didn't miss a beat. Food and drinks came out promptly. I love that this place employs the mentally disabled! They had a brave older man with Down Syndrome plucking on an acoustic guitar to the best of his abilities. The gentleman accidentally mistook the microphone for drums and beat on it a little bit and occasionally he would use profanity or be racially insensitive, but the venue and clients alike understood that he was intellectually limited and nobody raised a fuss. What a good place! Me and my friends do come here all the time, I don't drink no more, only wine with soda water once in a while and iv lost a lot of weight and go to the gym too, I'm movinn to Florida soon but when I come to Long Island I like the James Joyce Pub, my friends come too sometimes, they got a really good menu too. Good food. The problem is they book Anthony Cumia's brother to play here, he don't even write his own music either he just plays others hes not a bad guy though I think, the rumors that he gets his kids to spit in his mouth I don't think is true. He's also not a nazi or white supremecist either because hes not white. Overall I think it's a good venue though, I have been going here for many years and its always been doin good. More...
