I have been looking for a LONG TIME to find someone on the Westside who is a pro at hair extensions but is also incredibly fair, honest and transparent.  Irene educates you on her process, the products available in her salon, and application choices to fit both your lifestyle and budget.  She worked with me to find the right color for my tricky blonde, and made some suggestions regarding layering color that no one had ever suggested in the past!  She is incredibly kind and down to earth to beat.  I have a genetic condition that causes my hair to fall out in certain areas, and on top of recently having a baby, my hair was thinning and in poor condition.  Irene really made me feel beautiful and confident and I'm excited to go back for my next appointment with her to make my hair dreams come true! If you want PERFECT HAIR, then You have to come here! Irene and her team have been doing my hair for the last 5 yrs. I have never had a bad experience. Her expertise and attention to detail is second to NONE. A master at cutting and color. You will leave there w nothing less then perfect hair. Trust me! If you want good hair, you need to go to her. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Irene is the only one I trust with my hair. I never know exactly what I want and she takes the time to walk me through options to make sure I'll be happy. Let me start off by saying, Irene is a genius when it comes to hair. I HATE getting my hair done (thanks to a couple bad experiences with inexperienced stylists) but those days are long gone. When I first came to Irene my hair was paper thin, uneven, and just an overall mess. This was due to emotional stress and chemical damage from a terrible dye job a couple years ago which left my hair completely fried. I hadn't gotten my hair done in over a year because I was so embarrassed about how bad of a condition it was in. Instead of criticizing me (which is what I had feared) Irene asked in the most caring way if I knew the cause of my hair thinning so that she could help me fix it. When I explained to her the situation and what I wanted, she was understanding, and helped me choose the best and least costly option for my hair. She ended up giving me tape in extensions for added volume and thickness. She did such an amazing job putting them in for me that I forget I even have them. I also wanted to change my naturally dark, almost jet black hair to a light ash blonde. It took two sittings, and twelve hours, but Irene patiently worked her magic and got my hair to the exact color I wanted. I've been getting so many compliments on my hair, and not only on the color but also on how healthy and shiny my hair looks now. Irene is a gem. I love this place and will continue to come here as long as I live in LA. Irene (apart from clearly being very experienced) is great at asking the right questions and working with you to help articulate exactly what you're looking for, and doesn't push you any certain way. This salon is incredible!!! When I first moved to LA, I had no idea where to get my hair done. Everything was sooooo expensive (I moved to California from Oregon where hair salons are never more than $120 for a cut and color and style ) and all the places down here were just way out of my budget. I didn't know where to go at all. I didn't get my hair done for six months because I was scared someone would destroy it or I would pay hundreds of dollars for mediocre work. Jade has affordable prices and Irene does amazing work. I HIGHLY recommend it. One day I was on Google and I found Jade Design Studio. It was a Paul Mitchell teaching school so I knew it had a good reputation and people were raving about Irene. So I made an appointment and I came to Irene for an extension styling. After talking to her about my hair and what I was looking for, I left that appointment with permanent extensions that have changed my whole life. I'm not kidding. She did an incredible job explaining everything to me and helping me figure out what type of extensions would work best for my lifestyle. I've already gone back and she was even more helpful the second time!She is so knowledgeable when it comes to colors, cuts, extensions, everything! I've been to Irene three times (going today for a fourth), and it's been the best experience I've ever had getting a haircut. Irene is welcoming, sincere and funny and great to talk to. I get my hair washed (twice!), and I feel like she really cares about me and that I'm not just another customer. She has great advice for me on taking care of my hair, and I finally have found a haircut that I feel confident with. Irene is amazing and I always call her the "hair whisperer".  I've gone to her so many times vaguely describing what I want and sometimes showing her something I found online as an example that isn't always the best example photo, but she's always able to figure out exactly what I want and I leave the salon happy every time.  She asks questions I'd never think of to ensure all the details are right, and she always warns me when my latest style or color whim will be bad for my hair's health.  I've gone to her for hair cuts, coloring (both natural and bright unusual colors), and loose body wave perms, and I have always loved the results. This is my first yelp review - I signed up just so I could share how wonderful I think Irene is! I've been getting haircuts from Irene for about 6 years now and I've never had a bad cut. Plus, her cuts last a really long time, so sometimes I feel like pampering myself and going to get my haircut, but my hair still looks great months after it has been cut! Getting my hair cut by Irene has definitely saved me money that way.Irene is great not only at cutting hair, but also at giving consults and finding cuts that look good for your face shape and preferences. I like really easy to manage cuts where I can just shower and go and while keeping this in mind, Irene always makes my hair look great. I've tried some new styles thanks to her and loved them all.It takes me a long time to trust a hair stylist but now I just go in and give Irene a few preferences (nothing that will get in my eyes, wash and go), ask Irene what she thinks would look good on me, get suggestions from her and then get it cut. Last year I got my first asymmetrical cut and I ended up liking it so much that I got another one the next time I went in. Oh, and last year I moved to the Bay Area but I visit LA a few times a year so I just wait to get my hair cut at Irene's. She is THAT good that it's worth the wait. The last time I was there she was setting up an appointment with another client who moved to the midwest and still gets his haircut by Irene when he visits LA. Jade Design Studio will change your life!!! First off, IRENE and SUE are phenomenal. The reviews of Irene are definitely on point. Since I was due for a haircut and had a bad experience with my previous salon. I searched through yelp for men's salon/stylist close to my area with high ratings. I gave Jade studio a shot. It was an amazing experience and highly recommend this salon. I made an appointment with Irene and came out feeling like a million bucks. They were very welcoming, comforting and definitely made me feel like home. When there's no parking on the street, they have parking slots for you in the rear garage. Just call the studio if you can't find parking and someone will come out to guide you. Big plus! Very affordable and only Paul Mitchell products used.Irene is a very high caliber stylist and has many years of professional experience. I came in, showed Irene couple of pictures of what hairstyle I was going for and she delivered it picture perfect. Plus hair massage and shoulder massage. She is very detailed and passionate about her work.  She also gives you a 7 day grace period to come back, if you feel like you need more of your hair touched up. Sue is also awesome! This is an AMAZING salon.  I came to Irene with a horrible extension job and Irene was not only able fix it but made it perfect! The work she did was phenomenal.  Beside extensions, her color work and cutting are 5 star.  The professional consultation you receive before each service is thorough and  provides great tips on how to recreate the style you leave with too. I am a constant user of yelp. However, I rarely write reviews, but I must write a review for this salon from the positive experience I had. I came here for a color correction. First off, had made a mistake being cheap by going to a beauty school. What I wanted was an ashy blonde ombrè. I had showed the student and teacher a picture of the color I wanted. After they were done, I ended up with an orange/copper color, not what I asked for. After I a month of having the color that drove me crazy every time I looked in the mirror, I went to another stylist, she told me that she can fix my color and that it was simple. I know she really tried, but I still had the copper tone I so disliked. Addition, my hair was fried and damaged from all the chemical. I had started to lose hope for getting the hair color I want. One of my girlfriends referred me to Irene for the color correction. Irene was straight up front with me and told me all the steps she would have to take and also we talked about the budget before she executed the process. I liked that she was very clear on every level so that there was no surprises at the end. Overall, I was at the salon for many hours. Irene and staff were very welcoming and  patient with me. I finally started a yelp because this place deserves a review.  The best salon I have ever been to.  I had just come off of a really poor cut and Irene told me to come in immediately for a free consultation.  After a few minutes I could tell she knew exactly what she was doing and gave her the go ahead.  The result is the best haircut I've had in years. I have been going to my hairstylist, Joanna, since I found her three years ago.  I even followed her from another salon to Jade.  I know she has other clients who have followed her for longer and from longer distances!  I think that says a lot about her dedication and service.  She is always very gracious and happy to see me.  In terms of the haircut, Joanna is detail oriented and always cuts my hair to avoid cowlicks and other imperfections.  Every four weeks, I put my head in her hands and she never disappoints.  I am happy she jumped to Jade too.  It is a great location on 7th street where it is usually easier to find parking up there.  The staff are all friendly and the owner is a small business owner who is really invested in making Jade a success. Irene consistently delivers an excellent cut and a great experience. It was finally time for my 13 month old son to get his first haircut...Irene was amazing as usually. My son did not cry and Irene has great skill working with even kids! It was a great experience for us, we were able to get a hair cut and enjoy dinner by the beach.
