I have worked with Jack before on house projects and recently hired him for a major remodel.
We knocked out walls and one large, old bathroom, reconfigured the space and created a master bedroom and bath and a second bath. I have very particular ideas and know construction to some degree. Jack is really a craftsman and very skilled. His experience and creative thinking showed up in his solution to a major structural issue and saved me many thousands of dollars. He uses top notch materials and his sub contractors are equally skilled. I would not hesitate to work with Jack again. He is not the least nor the most expensive but is certainly one of the best.

Jack Stabb has become our "go to" guy whenever we have a project on our house. Our first project was a big kitchen remodel which resulted in removing walls and converting a 1950s era kitchen to a more contemporary look complete with stainless steel, granite, and wood floors. Jack and his team were always on time and we never felt that we were less than the most important project at the time. There were no surprise change fees and a constant line of open communication. More recently Jack renovated a bathroom, resulting in another example of his craftsmanship and the level of quality that he insists upon with the sub-contractors he uses. But what stands out most in my mind is an unanticipated project when a tree fell into our house some years ago creating roof damage and damage to our newly renovated kitchen. Jack came over in a flash during a weekend, helping to tarp the roof, and immediately began fitting us into his schedule so that we would be watertight. In 2004, we hired Jack to manage a complete kitchen expansion/remodel involving significant structural/engineering work, plus full house seismic upgrade , new roof,  and replacement of large picture windows.   Jack and his fantastic crew did an amazing job, and eight years later, all of the work has held up beautifully.    In 2012, Jack and his team built a 400 sq ft  addition with rooftop terrace to our house on a downhill slope, with a complex foundation involving piers.   A contractor friend noted that he had never seen a more beautiful foundation.   This project also involved reconfiguring existing space with a new study,  laundry, and new full bathroom, plus a new heating and A/C system with two zones for the house.   Amazingly, much of the work had to be funneled through a narrow 3 foot passage at the side of the house.    As with the previous project, the quality of work was extremely high.        Jack only uses solid, high quality subs, including electrical, plumbing, painting, tile, and stone.   It was very clear that they all have great respect for his work, and the several that I spent time with made a point of saying that he was the best.    His core crew is very reliable, very pleasant, shows up on time every day, and cleans up at the end of every day.   Great guys.  There were no complaints from any of the neighbors that were impacted.   Jack drew up a carefully considered, detailed contract up front, outlining all costs over the duration of the project.   There were no surprises regarding cost during the course of the project.       Jack is a perfectionist, and committed to client satisfaction.  He worked collaboratively with our architect, and with us.     I wouldn't consider anyone else for the next project. I have known Jack for years mainly because he has remodeled most of the kitchens of my friends in book club. Recently, I had a long list of things that needed doing around my house, not a new kitchen mind you but all those things that need doing to keep your home up. Jack and his wonderful crew did a great job with attention to detail and care. His team cleaned up each night and completed the jobs quickly and at a very fair price. Jack Stabb did an extensive remodel on the kitchen and two bedrooms in our Berkeley bungalow two years ago.  This was a huge job, and it went like clockwork.  It was finished well within the time frame promised, and was so well done, when it came time to remodel the front bedroom, we did not even consider calling anyone else.  Jack Stabb is reliable, professional, and the quality of his work is superb.  As with our previous remodel, his crew showed up on time every day, kept the job site tidy and organized, and were always friendly and courteous.  Jack is easy to reach, communicative and informative, and truly cares about doing high-quality, beautiful work, down to the last detail.  We wouldn't trust our home to anyone else. Jack Stabb recently completed an addition to our home.  He came very highly recommended from good friends who had worked with him extensively.  They were 100% right.  Jack is extremely conscientious and has the highest  professional and ethical standards.  Our home was built in the 1920's and Jack proved himself to be a true artist in the way he took the flaws of our older house, slanted floors et al, and made them "disappear".  He further ensured that the charming details of an earlier time were matched perfectly.  We were extremely satisfied with this major project and strongly recommend Jack. I have used Jack Stabb over a period of 15 years for a variety of remodel and repair jobs on my Oakland Hills home.  I would never want to use another contractor.  I no longer even have anyone bid against Jack.  His price is fair, not the least expensive, but fair for a quality job.  He is particular about details, keeps a clean job site, has a great crew and completes his jobs on time and with good communication.Highly recommended, you will be glad you chose him.
