Alysia is amazing, talented, and such a joy! She has been doing my extensions for over a year now, and I will continue to go to her for years to come! She is able to perfectly match my natural hair color with extensions to give a flawless look with extra length and extra volume! Time flies by when I am sitting in her chair. She truly is the best! I've been coming to J Russell! for hair off and on for over 10 years and I have never had a bad experience. Last week I scheduled a manicure with Miki and was impressed by her professionalism and top quality service. My manicures usually chip after two days but the one I received from her a week ago is still going strong. Her space is very private and relaxing. Keri is phenomenal! I've been letting my hair grow for 3 years now, and usually get a cut in April around my birthday. I had yet to find anyone in the desert to do long, light layers like I wanted. I needed a lot of uneven growth taken off the bottom and wanted my split ends gone, but I was afraid of seeing someone who would take too much off. I have a mass of fine, naturally curly hair. (Although the "before" photo won't reflect my curl pattern because it was wind-blown then kept in a bun all day after!) Keri was incredibly knowledgeable and listened to exactly what I wanted, checked out the reference photos I brought, and made it happen! So glad I took my time and read reviews before finding her! My hair feels soft and healthy and it's absolutely perfect! Will be booking with her again for more regular cuts now that I have someone I'm comfortable with! Friendly, attentive, and very skilled. I can say that I love getting my hair done here at J Russell Salon because I usually go in and want them to just buzz it down to a 2 all over and instead whoever I'm having cut my hair says to me 'let me do a haircut short and if we don't like it we can always buzz it off' and with that I've not had a shaved head in a year and I have had the cutest hairstyles that are easy to manage, can do good just out of bed and fit my personality. I highly recommend this place and you get what you pay for and they're reasonably priced with comparative salons in the area! More...

This review is waaay waaay overdue, I apologize.  I got married in Palm Springs in November and Jamie did my hair and makeup and she was AMAZING and made me feel so glamorous, really just like a movie star.  She did miraculous things with my thin hair and made my older face look young and glowing.  She took so much time with me at the trial to figure out the right look and on my wedding day to make sure it was all perfect. I relocated about 4 years ago. I had the same stylist for 8 years. I have fine, thin, greying hair. The trifecta of problematic hair. I've been to several stylists since relocating and had a myriad of experiences. After another disappointing result I went to J Russell and found Lynnette Poole. She is the best. After a conversation she dialed in on what I wanted and what could be accomplished with my hair type. I am very happy with the results. Ok I am picky about my hair - first off Alysia understood that as a person who has had *multiple* bad hair colors and cuts (prior to moving to Palm Springs), I am a little sensitive about my hair. She was really understanding and accommodating.Second she knows what she's talking about and makes good use of your time. She let me text to schedule (ok and reschedule), and even spent time doing a phone consult with me about some new work I was considering trying out. This was VERY convenient for me *and* her comments and suggestions were SPOT on. I could really tell she knew hair!I have high standards when it comes to my hair - not only did Alysia exceed those standards - she showed me some new techniques in styling and hair color (a subject I thought I had already mastered). I will always be grateful to Alysia, she was instrumental in helping me AND my hair transition to the desert. About 6 months ago I made an appointment with a color specialist, named Sam. I want to give her and the salon a 5 star rating. I don't even know where to begin. I arrive, she is there waiting for me with her wonderful smile. They don't want to keep you waiting and if it should occur it is because of a client-not them. She has given me beautiful hair color and if she has any questions she does not hesitate to consult with her peers. I love that. Not one person knows it all and I find that refreshing. My wife and I have been clients of Barry for nearly 15 years (at his Orange County salon), and recently made our first visit to him at J Russell! The Salon in Palm Desert.  From the moment we walked in, we knew we were in the right place.  The receptionist greeted us in a manner both friendly and professional, and made us feel extremely welcome.  The salon itself is, in a word, stunning.  We've never seen anything like it, and after having been given the grand tour of the entire salon, we were even more in awe than when first walking in.  This establishment is what every high-end salon should strive to be!  The treatment from Barry - my haircut, and my wife's color and cut - were, of course, first-rate, as well.  Highly recommended! I finally decided to go to a salon after dragging my feet for over 18 months. I have a phobia with salons, I normally don't come out fully loving my hair. I made an appointment to see Kerri after seeing how many reviews and satisfied customers she had. As I walked in my anxiety started coming out, I was greeted by Kerri. She listed to my concerns and what kind of cut I wanted. I wasn't really 100% sure of what I wanted other than super short hair. After seeing the texture of my hair she recommended a short style but not a pixie cut. Once she washed it and cut it she styled it. It looked amazing! Joy is responsible for the amazing hair I have today!!! She made room for me and was highly recommended by two people I know. She takes the time to ensure that you will look amazing for not only that day but for many more! I was very anxious about this extreme hairstyle change and yet with her help and amazing experience, I feel like a million dollars!!!! The salon is in great shape, they offer you complimentary coffee and iced water. I love that they have everything you could need in one place and although they are on the more expensive side, I think every penny is well spent. I've been a customer of J Russell The Salon for about 15 years.  During that time I have received excellent service from Meg, the owner and leader; friendly, accommodating and professional. The quality of work, friendliness, cleanliness, professionalism, couldn't be topped.  I fully recommend you to trust the artists at J Russell The Salon with your hair, your face, your nails.  There is not a better facial or massage in town than with Lily, make your appts far in advance; Alan is my saviour; I suffered from in-grown toenails for years and the dr told me surgery was the only answer, I have no problems now, Alan fixed them painlessly, and I'll always be grateful; Tim cuts my hair and has forever, I trust him and you know how daring you have to be to trust someone with your hair, I do trust him completely.  Go to J Russell, it's the best salon in the Coachella Valley.
