Tucked away in a plaza, you might miss it unless you were intentionally looking for it.While it's small inside, everything else is huge from service to portions to quality of food. From chicken katsu to furikake chicken to kalbi to spam musubi to loco moco, you are bound to have a happy tummy after eating here. If you can't decide what to get, get a mixed plate for 2 meats or just come and eat here multiple times. You really can't go wrong with anything here. + LOCATION/PARKING: Island Flavor is located in a small shopping center on the corner of S. Durango Dr. And W. Windmill. It shares the parking lot of Bombas Bar & Grill, Zabb Thai Spice Kitchen, Angel Massage, Ashton's Classic Barbers, and more. Parking is plenty. + WiFi (Instagram/Yelp): GASP! I didn't check! + SETTING/AMBIENCE [5/5]: After my trip to Hawaii... I was missing some island food! Island Flavor setting and ambience reminded me of a slightly upscale Hawaii theme feeling. + SERVICE [5/5]: Service was absolutely phenomenal. Staff were attentive to my needs, questions, and concerns. + DRINK(s)//FOOD(s)//SHOW(s) [4/5]: Island Flavor has many Hawaiian dishes that are sure to please and leave you wanting to sample the rest of the many options we have to offer. One thing for sure... The Mac is truly phenomenal and rich of flavors. And they offer very generous portions. You feel like you get bangs for your buck. = Monstah Mixed Plate - You have the option to mix any 3 choices of meat +  big heaping of Mac + Three scoops of rice. For my proteins I selected Furikake Chicken, Kale Short Rib, and teriyaki steak. All the proteins was rich with flavors. = Beef Stew - The beef stew although great on a cold night. The broth itself wasn't as savory, as I would like it. Regardless, it was good enough to be consumed to its entirety. + OVERALL [5/5]: Overall, I would totally come back to Island Flavor and check out the other menu items. More...

Their prices are reasonable as well. The staff is friendly and accommodating when you choose to dine-in. FAVORITE LUNCH SPOT ever. Seriously. My co workers and I count down the days until we have our Island flavor lunch! I am a huge fan of the furikake chicken, upgrade to fried rice (DUH) and Mac salad (drool). Some co worker favorites are the pork and the poké. Last time I looked, they were selling really large drink cups that were a bit pricy... not sure if that's still going on or not. But, otherwise, everything else is fairly priced considering that you get like 5lbs of food! The place is usually packed at lunch time, depending on the special of the day! Vegas is literally the island away from the islands in terms of food! The serving sizes, the flavor, I can't  knock it. The food here is ridiculously good. My fiancée and I try to go here every time we come to Vegas. We used to go to the one on Durango which is hella far. Glad this express one is on the east side closer to HendersonLoco Moco had the traditional hamburger AND spam and Portuguese sausage. The gravy was delicious with two eggs on top. Furikkake chicken was  so good. I don't know what it is but the glaze on it is good. Kinda like orange chicken but way better. Other places don't have a sauce or glaze and it actually just pisses me off. And the Kalbi... doesn't look like much. Does look like it has much taste but this is the best set dish ever. We arrived at IF around 6. After a friendly greeting we were seated immediately. On Friday nights the Green Bottle Union Band plays. They are soooo good! Kanikapila all da way! The staff are REALLY good. Our server was Tina and she was great! We ordered the Monstan Mix Plate 2x.  I had the roast pork with brown gravy, the Korean fried chicken and the kal-bi ribs.  My mom had the kalua pig and cabbage, kal-bi ribs...I forget what her third thing was. Both came with 3 scoops rice and one scoop mac salad. We also ordered Hawaiian style poke. All the meats and the poke were awesome! Really really good flavor and texture. The Korean chicken was spot on with right flavors and nice crispy skin. The kal-bi was the star! Really really good! The right amount of char and the marinade is perfect. The roast pork and gravy were ok. Tender meat but the gravy was a little bit bland. The next part is the reason I'm giving it 4 instead of 5 stars. The mac salad. Bland and yet too sweet. The grated carrots were stringy and gave it a weird texture. Thumbs down!  The desserts. We ordered coco puffs and Chantilly cake. I've had this before at IF so I was excited! They must have a new person or changed the recipe or something because the desserts were actually bad. Not just not great but bad. The Chantilly cake was dry and the chantilly frosting was just not flavorful enough. Very meh. The coco puffs were terrible! The choux was SALTY  and super dry. The cream inside the one with the chantilly on top tasted sour. I didnt even try the ube one. Get the food not the desserts!  I will go back....that kal-bi mmmmmm.....ono....I just wont get dessert! Ok. This is my second time eating here in a month. I held back my review until my second visit (actually take out) to see if they were consistent. And they were! I ordered the kal bi fried rice n mixed plate. The kal bi fried rice was soooo flavorful. Simply Ono. The mixed plate (teri steak n teri chix) had a nice charbroiled flavor. The teri sauce was also spot on. I took a break from Island Flavor for a couple of years because the quality of the food was in free fall and the consistency was all over the map. I asked the cashier if they had new owners and she said yes. Ahhhhh. Kudos to the new owners n their attention to detail n consistency! The staff is friendly and efficient. This place is the closest thing to home for Ono local grinds. Not like those places that try to pass themselves off as an ono local grinds place. Aloha Kitchen (ugh). L&L (never again). Love love love this place. Parking is easy.  Staff are nice. Food comes out hot and fast. Prices are fair. Lots of options to choose from. Portions are huge that one plate can feed two people.  What else can I say?  Okay okay, I'll elaborate more. I've been here several times and I always get the korean chicken. This time I decided to venture out of my comfort zone a little and ordered the mixed plate with two items - furikake shrimp and korean chicken (they ran out of thighs but they had wings).  The korean chicken was on point. The wings are excellent - savory and a little sweet, not salty at all. The outside had a bit of a crunch. I think I had at least 6-8 pieces of wings. The furikake shrimp was fried to a crisp and as a side they had the sweet chili sauce to dip your shrimp. It was good but I think I would get the furikake chicken. I had some from my friend's plate and it was sooo good. You can definitely taste the furikake. It had a slight sweetness to it. The Mac salad was good because it had a good amount of pepper, which I love so so much. Btw, you can upgrade your rice to fried rice but I think there's a fee (I noticed the other table order it).  Oh, I also had the spam musubi. More rice than I wanted on it but it still hit the spot. The hubs ordered the Saturday special which was beef stew. He said it was very tender and flavor was great. He ate it with some rice and made it even more filling. He really liked it!I would definitely come back here again and again. I can't get enough of it. More...

They really practice what they preach and I've been a good customer since. My first time in they charged me for one entrée and let me sample a whole bunch of different types of meats. That's the true spirit of the Hawaiian people. So let's get to the food.Aloha and Mahalo! I got the monstah plate because I had big hunger brother. It had chicken katsu, teriyaki steak, and Hawaiian pork with gravy my momma would be proud to serve. My friend had the grilled cheese with spam. If there's anything that I miss about Hawaii, it's the local style fried chicken. For those that don't know local style fried chicken it's fried chicken with a sweet sauce over it. They have two variations at Island Flavor. The Korean style and the Furikake chicken. Korean fried chicken comes with Kim chee fried rice which really sets it over the top. But my ultimate favorite would be the furikake chicken. I can eat that literally everyday. There's just something about that sweet sauce on that fried chicken that just gets me hooked.
