I am not fond of Peruvian food, but my friend wanted to eat lomo saltado, hence to the Peruvian restaurant we went. I ordered carne asada and she lomo saltado, my carne asada was good but her lomo saltado was excellent. She also ordered Chicha morada, a Peruvian sweet drink made from corn, it was delicious. The service was prompt and friendly. We really loved it. When I go back to California, I will give this a try again. More...

Came here for lunch on a weekday. The restaurant was mostly empty and the staff was friendly. There is a lunch menu with some good options for $10. The dinner menu is a little pricier. I had the shrimp skewer with side salad. It was very tasty. The lettuce was slightly wilted but it didn't bother me much. My friend had the tacu tacu with beef and liked it a lot. We also had a half liter of sangria (perfect for sharing) and the pisco sour. Overall was a good option for lunch. More...

To be honest I was looking for a Bolivian restaurant to bring my gf for a special occasion.  I did not find one in San Jose but this Peruvian place came up and I thought let's give it a try. The several times that I have been there, it really hasn't been that busy.  It doesn't seem too hard to get a table.  Once or twice they seemed a bit short staffed and service was a little slow.  It did not affect me as I still had a great time and enjoyed a fantastic meal here at Isabellas.  I had the pollo saltado, my gf had the lomo saltado.  This meal is the real deal; the chicken was very tasty, the sauce, tomatoes, and cilantro all make this an incredibly flavorful dish.  They really make it to perfection here.  The eggs and fries added to the meal just put this entree into another stratosphere.  Definitely try this dish next time you are in the area (very close to Santana Row btw!).  What I really love is how the sauce they use doesn't make the fries unbearably soggy.  I don't know how they do it but this is one of my favorite dinner plates.I liked this dinner so much I tried to replicate it at home.  I had to buy Aji Amarillo sauce on amazon.  Although I couldn't duplicate their perfected dish, they inspired me to try something new at home.Thank you Isabellas! Food was pretty fast actually ! About fifteen minutes for two beef empanadas and an order of Papa a la Huancaina, both of which were super good ! I've never had Peruvian food, but it was a really pleasant experience ! My mom and I went today while she waited for her eyelash appointment. Isabella's is in a pretty convenient spot ! Pretty okay price $33 dollars including a tip for an appetizer and two empanadas ! I think we'll definitely be going back soon. More...

Had a small lunch here with one of my co-workers one day after a class.  We wanted to go eat somewhere near her place and different from the usual.  It is located on Winchester  Blvd near Santana Row, but not in the direct vicinity.  This restaurant popped up and with us both being very food adventurous, we decided to try this place out.  Thus is a Peruvian restaurant that is smaller than most, but cozy.  It was clean and cute with it's ethnic decor.  The server, at first seemed intimidating, but when he actually came up to us to ask what we would like, he was very nice and explained to us what the different things on the menu were.  He also made some great suggestions which we ended up taking. Here is what we ordered between the two of us: lolPapa a la Huancaina (boiled potatoes with Peruvian style cheese): this was very good.  They can make it different levels of spice but we got it non spicy.  It was really delicious, but the most interesting part is that it is served cold.  I have never had boiled potatoes or cheese cold, but it actually was very goodPescado Macho: this was basically fried fish, they give you an option of tilapia or upgrade to mahi mahi or sea bass, then topped with scallops, calamari, crab claw, and shrimp, topped with their special sauce....OMG, you will want for nothing else.  This dish was so good and filling.  It was perfect for the two of us.Banana plantains: The perfect thing to mix in with all the rich food, this was super yummy with a nice slightly crispy outside from the sugar, it helped to clear the palate so we could enjoy our food even moreLucina ice cream: okay, what is a Lucina, who know.  They do, and we ended up googling it because this is the most interesting ice cream I have ever had, seriously.  When you put in in your mouth it starts of tasting like Thai tea, then as it melts, it becomes caramel, then ends as coffee.  I mean if you like any or all those things, you gotta try it out. They had Peruvian corn nuts and their special salsa (which is really spicy, watch out!) On the table to much on while we waited for our food. These were addicting too.  It was kind of hard to eat with the salsa but we made it work.I would definitely go back and suggest you try it out too. More...

My parents who have never tried Peruvian food had a great experience at Isabella's. The ceviche was light and fresh, great flavors and mild spice level satisfied the different palettes at the table. We ordered a few classic entrees so everyone can get a taste of the food. The lazy Susan in the middle of the table made it easy to share the family style meal. The entree was seasoned nicely, not overly salty, and I appreciated that the food wasn't swimming in grease. We ended the meal with some ice cream and flan - again, very light and not too sweet. Overall we had a great experience and would definitely recommend this restaurant. More...

The food here is out of this world, Ceviche is excellent, Paella is to die for! On top of this. Atmosphere is so pleasant and relaxed. The owner was very nice and pleasant, and accomodated all our request especially with two little kids. There is nice latin music playing in the background but not too noisy so it's easy to have a conversation. The only problem (opportunity;) ) is that the menu is so rich there is not enough space to try everything, so definitely coming again to try new dishes. More...

We have been coming here for years now. And I still love them as my first day I came. This is my absolute favorite restaurant. The staff is very nice and the food is amazing. We always get the fish ceviche, it is absolutely delicious. The mild is plenty spicy for me. We also get the beef heart skewers, another to die for. The steak macho is another favorite. Super creamy and just tasty overall. The seafood all taste fresh in it as well. Those three dishes is plenty of food for two average people with a little bit of leftovers. We recently tried to venture out of our usual and got the lamb. It was extremely tasty and we loved it, but I still prefer my other three. And I also tried the pesto pasta with steak. the pasta was cooked to perfection and very delicious. The steak was unique in that it tasted like it was deep-fried for a second to give it a nice crisp on the outside. Again very delicious but I still prefer my other three. For checking in you get a free glass of house wine. I believe it's just boxed wine. And for your birthday they will give you a free ice cream with whip cream and strawberry drizzle. This continues to be my favorite restaurant and go to for special occasions. Although, as I mentioned in a previous post for here, it gets a little hard to breathe inside because the ventilation is not great. I have to sit outside, even during winter time, or I get an allergic reaction to the chilis being cooked. Best food, worth every penny! Definitely would recommend this place!!! More...

From right when u walk in the door to when you leave you feel like family & they make you feel at home. You can definitely tell that they take pride their restaurant & put a lot of heart & soul into everything (especially the food) I always have a hard time on deciding what to order because everything is just sooo good but they're always so helpful with giving recommendations & I've never made any regrets. From the food to the drinks my friends, family & I always have a wonderful heartwarming experience. This is probably my favorite South American/Peruvian restaurant. It is small place but they put a lot of love into every detail. Definitely a hidden gem! I LOVE! More...

Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday dinner. We wanted to try something a bit different than the usual so decided to go Peruvian. We had the following:- Mixto Ceviche: Mixed seafood with shrimp, calamari , scallops , mussels. 3/5- Ceviche Pescado: Pieces of fish marinated with lime. 4/5- Arroz con Mariscos: Peruvian seafood "Paella"; sautéed rice with jumbo shrimp, calamari , scallops, mussels and crab nails. 4/5- Cau Cau de Mariscos: Peruvian style seafood shrimp, calamari , scallops. 3.5/5- Pollo saltado: Chicken strips sautéed with onions, tomatoes and "Lomo" sauce. 4/5 - Inca Kola: Meeh not my thing as the color is yellow and tasted too artificial to me.The ceviche here is really wonderfully prepared and seasoned. The restaurant also provide the option of spiciness from hot too mild. Both of the ceviches we got had great flavors and texture with the right level of heat. The fish is my favorite out of all of the seafood. The Peruvian "Paella" is different from the Spanish paella as the rice was definitely more moist and seasoned differently. The deep red sauce has both the tang and sweetness instead of the traditional saffron yellow color. However, it was tasty.Directions: Don't follow the address of the restaurant on Google Maps direction as it takes you to Krung Thai. Click below to get there: goo.gl/maps/WbHTPQcoX2G2 instead.
