In a quonset hut on East Montague Ave in the heart of Park Circle is Iola Modern, a store that will take you back in time, to a time when store owners personalized their service and knew their products inside and out. I've never had a more pleasant buying experience purchasing furniture than I did with the store owner, Steven. Firstly the store is like walking into a design museum where there is SO much to see and take in. I was in the market for a new outdoor table and chairs and puchased a Luxembourg set. The color choices were capital A Amazing!!! Vibrant color choices (think reds, greens, purples) if you're wanting something other than the ubiquitous taupe. Steven delivered the table to our house and actually called, yes, called two weeks later as a follow up to see if we were happy with our choice. And the table and chairs are great-easy to clean, comfortable and designed to last. Steven is now helping us furnish another living space and so far i've got my eye on some copper dining chairs and a beautiful sofa. He very thoughtfully, without any pressure, went over our blueprints with us to determine what would work spatially and colorwise. Frankly, you will NOT find any of your grandma's furniture in Iola Modern! More...

Iola is by far my favorite shop in Charleston I've found in two years since moving here. Steven and Will are wonderful, well-traveled gentlemen who can talk at length about anything -- especially the interesting and unique items in their store. And Nola is a doll.
