More...

Q&As

I love coaching people and teams because I find it incredibly fulfilling when clients make progress. Getting to walk along side others through the challenges, excitement, and even grief of life is a great privilege. One of the things that excited me the most about coaching is when a client says, "You know, that's a great question!" Being trained in active listening and in asking powerful questions helps me walk along-side clients, and help them discover their own answers to the problems and hurdles they face.

I was inspired by the powerful and freeing conversations I had with a coach in my own life. The chance to be authentic, to have a confidential thought partner, and to make progress was a true gift. I felt led to coaching because it has a bias for action. Coaching is different from therapy or psychology in that it doesn't try to diagnose. It's different from consulting because it doesn't claim to be the expert. Therapy, psychology, and consulting are all extremely valuable and have their place, but I'm drawn to coaching because the methodology of coaching works for me personally. After years of serving people in institutional non-profit life, primarily in faith based institutions, I have had an opportunity to begin coaching and with groups and individuals nationwide, and helping people get unstuck and move forward is an incredible joy.

I am an empathetic listener and have the ability to ask questions you hadn't thought of. I'm also gifted at picking up on themes that emerge in client conversations and digging into the root of an issue. I am a proud ally, and open to serving people of all walks of life, including all faith backgrounds, all sexual orientations and gender identities, and all belief systems. This means I pride myself on being a non-judgemental, and non-anxious presence when I'm meeting with clients, which helps clients feel comfortable in opening up and going deeper. Consequently, this can lead to powerful breakthroughs and progress in the course of our coaching relationship.

Finally, if you are a person of faith and having a crisis of faith or of conscience, I have been where you are, and also have graduate and doctoral level training in leading people to wrestle with shifting faith in the midst of cultural change (literally wrote a book on it). I can walk alongside you as you unpack pain and trauma from stifling systems or even religious abuse, and you find a way forward.

Absolutely. I'm available by phone, Zoom and WhatsApp. I regularly meet people in time zones all over the world, and can accommodate your needs in coaching from any distance.

I am fully vaccinated and willing to follow any protocols (masks, distancing, etc.) that make clients feel safe and comfortable. I have met with people in public places like outdoor parks, and also outside at restaurants. I'm comfortable in a variety of situations, and follow safety measures when out and about personally.

Services

I help people who are feeling stuck move forward. Naming reality and exploring possibilities are the first steps toward fresh vision. I can help you clarify objectives, identify where you need to make progress, and clarify your plans for how to navigate change successfully.

I bring over twenty years of mentoring and coaching to bear with clients, and I have masters and doctoral level education in offering compassionate presence and inviting intentional focus with people from all walks of life.

I am regularly booked as a breakout session leader at conferences nationwide, and often provides trainings for groups and organizations of all sizes. Custom seminars and workshops can be developed for any non-profit group or business. Areas of specialty include:

>Family and organizational systems
>Leading and managing change
>Navigating shifting social culture
>Grassroots advocacy in the non-profit sector
