We called for takeaway and the gentleman on the phone was very accommodating and excited about our first visit and the opportunity to please us. The menu states "Please advise survey of any allergies". Menu in photos. This in an intimate and popular little restaurant that sits back off of Detroit Rd. They have a small parking lot which is helpful if you can find a spot. Small outdoor dining space.I have dietary requirements of No gluten, no shellfish, no dairy, histamine issues(means reaction if food not fresh) and had Ginger Lamb $16.95 Spicy #3Boneless lamb cooked in ginger, garlic, onion sauce. Which did come with Basmati rice. Saffron Rice $6.95 Lightly spiced basmati rice cooked with saffronI will admit I'm not a well seasoned Indian food consumer so I was personally disappointed that the lamb had tomato in the sauce. That is pure ignorance on my part,  but I always assume when a menu has ingredients shown that is shows the ingredients in the dish. Time and time again this proves to be an assumption that I should have learned from by now. The dish was overly spicy for me and I'm not a whimp when it comes to spice. So chose lower than you normally would in Ohio where spice is usually to mild. The dish and saffron rice was tolerated very well, no reaction at all. I wasn't a big fan of the flavor profile but that's just my tastebuds. The saffron rice was bland. A big help to mute the spicy burning. Personally, I'd go back and try something different just because it was a no reaction meal that I didn't cook. My husband who is gluten intolerant had Malai Kabab $16.95 Spicy #4Boneless chicken breast pieces, marinated in yogurt, cream cheese, mildly spiced. Also VERY spicy. India Garden, I would assume, is authentic Indian cuisine spice levels. He also wasn't a huge fan of the taste profile but had no reaction. He LOVED the Mango Iassi $3.95Yogurt based drink with mix of sweet mango (highly recommended)All in all I'm told they have the best authentic Indian food in Cleveland and they may have. I used to eat paneer and spinach laden Indian dishes and now I am not able to enjoy my favorite flavors so we will probably give them another try with different dishes and hopefully find a new favorite. They also have Goat which I used to adore but probably also contributed to my chronic illness. I'm guessing USA goat is a different quality than all the Mexican Cabrito I enthusiastically sucked down like food from the Gods. More...

Great food and service. Despite the plain, small storefront and obscure location, the inside was quite charming while not feeling too crowded. The food was excellent and we had multiple staff wait on us, handling our every need. Great Indian beer selection too. Definitely going again, highly Recommended! More...

My first experience here was excellent! The service was impeccable. Friendly, attentive, and informative staff was always close by. I ordered the Goat Biryani at level 4 (out of 10) and it was a good amount of heat with a ton of authentic flavor. I sampled the other dishes my friends got and they were equally good. I will definitely be returning and you should most certainly try this restaurant! More...

An excellent take on Northern Indian food. Owner came and sat with us (as we settled in) to chat, explain his restaurant and give us the low down on a few dishes. We had a larger group, so we ordered a mess of dishes and shared around the table. My friend and I both started the meal with an Indian beer called Maharaja which turned out to be a good choice as out heat level choices were a bit suspect (yikes!, super-hot!) and those malted beverages helped cool the fires a bit. ;-)We ordered the dishes as levels of 4 and 5, but we probably needed to go with 3 or less next time as a few dishes were beyond our regular tolerance for heat. I suppose it is somewhat a function of who is in the kitchen, but man...the whole table was crying and sniffling!Anyways, as far as the food goes...the garlic naan was fantastic; crispy on the edges and dripping with a delicious buttery garlic. Great for sopping up all the sauces! The chicken tikka masala was rich and spiced perfectly with its deep red (tomato based) sauce. The goat curry was in a dark brown gravy and also super-rich; tender meat fell off the bones and also made for a great leftover meal the next day. For my tastes, the vegetable korma was too spicy to enjoy. Fried cauliflower dish was crispy and filling.Everyone enjoyed the meal, just need to adjust our spice level in a future visit to dial in our preferences. Anxious to get back out there and sample their extensive menu options! More...

This place has changed my love of food completely! If you have never tried Indian food before, this is the place to go! The workers are really friendly and personable. You can be honest that you don't know where you might be on their spicy scale of 1-10 and they will help you out with picking the right number. For example, I like spicy to a certain extent. I enjoy some spice but I still want to be able to feel my tongue and enjoy the other flavors that might be in the dish so I get a spice level 3. It's a little spicy but not a hot iron to my throat. Mind you, American spicy is far lower than Indian spicy so if you think you are a 10 on their scale, you probably aren't anywhere near it. My all time favorites from this place is their garlic naan bread, chicken tikka masala, and the best for last, a mango lassi. I never knew what a mango lassi was before going to an Indian restaurant but this is a gift from God...Whenever I go with my friend, both of use get two of them because we generally drink the first one like its a race, and then really enjoy the taste of the second one. Check this place out! Its really cozy inside too! More...

Great place for Indian. We came here after touring Western Reserve Distillers as we were looking for some good Indian cuisine. The bartender at the distillery recommended this place. What I liked was the location and the hole in the wall ambiance. I could imagine stumbling onto a place like this while tramping about a big city somewhere in India.Great veggie pakoras served with the typical tamarind and green chutneys. Their green chutney was nice and spicey. The pakoras had a spiciness all their own and that was a delightful treat.I got the shrimp and veggie curry at level 5. Level 5 is half way on their hotness scale. Plenty warm for me. Shrimps were cooked just right and the curry sauce was well balanced. We enjoyed great service and attention to detail. Outdoor seating is available too but we opted for inside.I would definitely recommend this for tastey Indian if you are in the Lakewood area. More...

Lunch at India Garden is where it's at. They have a lunch buffet which includes pretty much everything on the menu if you want to sample. I last stopped in for take out and ordered the samosas, naan and chicken biryani. When I came in to pick up the order the smells of the buffet fill your nose and it is delightful. I believe it was one of the owners that greeted me and brought out my order. They had prepared chicken tikka masala instead of biryani but he was very quick to apologize and correct my order. I waited maybe 5 more minutes and he brought it out and told me to keep the masala as well. I will be back for sure. Everything was delicious, especially the masala which was a nice surprise. Been here a million times & love the Indian food. Nice medium sized joint with great decor. Love the parking lot, bam right across from the west end bars. Great staff. Nice lunch buffet w all u can drink chai. Lots of take out business. Tandoori chicken is our favorite. How do they get the chicken so red  It's the Indian way. 1-10 on the hotness scale, great great orange sauce for the chicken. In the lunch buffet it swims in it. Bro says it's the butter chicken sauce. Whatever, get it it's great chicken. Saffron rice even tho it also comes with white rice HA & nan. This was dinner, busy Friday night full of my age & the beautiful Lakewood millennials. It was a giant order we took some home. Great place where everybody goes. $34++ merry Christmas. 5 starsUPDATE ITS THE CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA THAT I LOVE SO MUCH. $14.95 that tomato based sauce is to die for!  I'll snap a pic so u can savor it too. India Garden provided the most exceptional service and food for our whole wedding weekend. Beginning with all of our out of town guests who came to Cleveland for dinner the night before the big day, Sunny and his team were so hospitable and welcoming and made everyone feel at home. The food was obviously top notch and our guests from Canada to NYC to even India commented how authentic the cuisine was. For our wedding, the attention to detail was truly special. The wedding had many moving parts with tea and Indian snacks served during the Hindu ceremony to a large South Indian and IndoChinese themed lunch to a traditional North Indian dinner feast, and India Garden navigated all these challenges with the utmost ease. This is the BEST Indian restaurant in Northeast Ohio and can compete with any of the elite Indian restaurants throughout the nation. More...

Love...love India Garden!  By far the best Indian restaurant in cleveland.  Today we decided to come for the lunch buffet and it was delicious!   Greeted the instant you open the door, the wait staff greet you like old friends coming to visit.  The attention to detail is what sets the service apart.  The restaurant is small with a nice patio set to the side of the parking lot, intimate and simple decor.I started with tomato soup.  The tomato soup is one of the main reasons I love this place.  The spice blend and rich flavor takes a basic soup to another level.  The spinach pakora, aloo matar and garlic naan were so fresh, hot and AMAZING.  I wanted to eat more than I did, but I was too content to keep going. If you haven't tried India Garden, run don't walk.  Open for lunch and dinner is the best of both worlds.
