For our wedding, we chose DJ Godfrey of Imani International, and our experience was nothing short of perfect. We have all been to weddings and parties where the DJs were terrible, so we were determined for that not to be the case with our wedding.
Our experience with DJ Godfrey was beyond outstanding. He totally blew us away.
Godfrey made our reception the perfect celebration by curating a playlist of past and present music that kept everyone on the dance floor the entire night, including some of our older relatives who haven’t danced like that in decades. If the venue had allowed it, I think everyone could have easily danced another few hours.
Throughout the entire evening, we had guests coming up to tell us how awesome the music was, how much fun they were having, and how our wedding reception was the best they had ever been to. A week later, many were telling us that they were still recovering. Some even asked when we were planning on doing it again 😂.
It was clear from our first contact with Godfrey that he has a passion for his craft. Throughout the entire process, Godfrey and his team were super professional, honest, accommodating, attentive to emails and calls, and provided a lot of useful feedback on details we didn’t even consider.
Godfrey's knowledge of music, calm demeanor, ability to read and work a crowd, and ability to be flexible enough to work in some out of the box requests, all combined to truly make our reception the ultimate party.
Godfrey and his team's commitment to their work is unmatchable and undeniably the best. The pride they take in what they do is what makes working with them such a pleasure and it allowed us to have a wedding reception like no other.

AMAZING! Do not hesitate to hire them. I was nervous hiring Imani because I never could find the time to call him. Everything was through e-mail since my job was sitting at a computer. He responded in a timely fashion and if he took more than a few hrs he apologized and let me know why. We agreed on everything but again I was too busy to call. With only a few days to go (2 days) I sent him what I needed. He said ok. I was late and wasn't sure he turned up. I sent him an e-mail and he told me he was there with some of my guests. He played the songs on time and in the order I needed. i wish I could post pictures! He was worth every single penny and his MC he was great too! The team was amazing! I'm glad I didn't hire cheaper! Godfrey was all we could have asked for and more. He was supportive throughout our planning process. His communication was top notch.
He ensured that the ceremony, dinner, and dancing music was in line with our tastes. He always asked for our ideas, preferences, and thoughts, but had a knack for knowing when we could use his expertise.
Not only was DJ Godfrey outstanding throughout the planning process, he brought the energy and top-level service to our wedding day. He continued to display his strong communication skills by working with me. He was also a great, calming presence on a day that can be filled with anxiety. In the dancing portion of the evening, Godfrey really brought the house down. He really knows how to keep a party going. Our guests are still raving about how much fun the music was - since I met him I have continued use his services throughout other events. I couldn't recommend Dj Godfrey enough.

DJ Godfrey of Imani International had the dance floor moving all night long. He played for our wedding where we had a diverse crowd. So, we asked for a range of music from classic R&B to reggae, calypso and 80's rock and disco. The music blended perfectly and our guest couldn't stay off the floor. What’s the secret to keeping a party dancing all night long?
Always stay with the crowd from beginning to end! It starts with the very first contact. Feel out the client, the background and types of music they like. Ask them to picture how they want their night to go for them and their guests. Get that playlist (if available) and combine it with our own musical expertise. And always be in the moment by reading the crowd!
How would you describe your ‘style’?
Our style starts with a personal touch that is unique to our clients. We engage the crowd without sounding too "game show host".. Technically gifted from years in the club and private sector-We keep the energy right where it needs to be in that moment.
What do you love most about your job?
Wow we love music and what it does to people. It's like a 4 hour vacation! I love the visual presentation also and the technical asoects of being that pro in control!
What inspired you to start your own business?
It started with what we've always done since we were young. We have Caribbean backgrounds (Jamaica ?? & Haiti??) but we also have a Brooklyn New York background which gave us that edge in music's international flavors. Why not make it official and bring it to the masses! Thats where the business started, and we never looked back.
