Wonderful staff who truly love every single cat and provide a beautiful, clean, and healthy home for them while they wait for their forever homes. I just can't speak highly enough about the great work this organization does. More...

I adopted two dogs from HSWA, and they cared enough to check on them in their new home.

I fell in love as soon as I saw her photo online. Then, she was mine when I first held her. Her name was Bandit. But, she goes by Halle Berry (cat woman) now. My daughter asked for a cat for her birthday because she is the only girl with 2 older brothers. I wanted her to have a best friend. I had no idea the plans God had set in place. Halle instantly bonded with me. After her surgery at the beginning of the year, I never left her side. I even had her nearby when we slept at night constantly waking and making sure her sutures were okay. It was like having a new born again. This summer, my PTSD was triggered. Halle never left my side. I woke throughout the night with her meowing, sitting on me, and licking me trying to ease me out of my night terrors. During the day, she only left my side for potty breaks and eating. As my episode has subsided, she still checks in on me and we have a bedtime ritual... as you can see in the photo attached. We say good night each night and she stares at me for a good solid minute to let me know she’s here. I want to say thank you to the Humane Society for rescuing her and keeping her safe so that she could fulfill God’s plan. She’s my companion and my best friend. You didn’t just help her find a new home... you helped me find a guardian angel. Once again... thank you from the bottom of my heart ♥️! More...

This shelter is amazing. Volunteers are very flexible and will work hard to get pets into their forever homes. Dogs are very sweet as well. I’ve had Jenny(formerly Sophie) since March and she is a wonderful dog. Could not recommend them enough, these guys are great! (here’s a pic of Jenny ) More...

I got my sweet pup, Dryfus, from the Humane Society of West Alabama. You can really tell how much the volunteers and adopters love the animals that they care for. The whole adoption process went incredibly smoothly, and I am endlessly grateful that he had such a solid team taking care of him before I found him and brought him to his forever home. More...

I know that they do an excellent job of taking care of the cats at the cat house. It is wonderful that they take in a variety of cats from kittens to senior cats. I have known them to take in a cat or cats when a person dies or when they have to enter a nursing home and most of the time they are able to find them a new forever home. I know that on the canine side that I have been able to get a dog accepted for adoption. He was a cute little dog that was scared to death in downtown Northport. Animal Control picked him up and took him to Metro. I called The humane Society and they were able to get him after two weeks and find him a good home. More...
