This was our first time trying out hula boy. Pretty easy to find right off fourth plain. When I walked in, it's a fairly small operation limited in person dining. They were a number of tables. People seem to be enjoying them self there. I pre-ordered the food for pick up and it was ready within 15 minutes and it actually took me 20 minutes to get there. so the environment had a really nice casual feel.We ordered two combination plates that included beef chicken and they are Korean BBQ ribs. It also included pickled cucumber slices, white rice and macaroni salad. The cucumber slices were tangy but went well with the meal. The macaroni salad I would say was typical. It taste the same in Hawaii. All the meat was flavorful. The Korean ribs were tasty by over cooked and tough to chew. Overall this is a nice establishment. Solid Hawaiian food in Vancouver. We have always loved everything we have ordered. Service is quick and friendly. I have always picked up to go but you can eat in now post Covid. Lots of chairs and a casual ambiance. Comments:All the meat combos including the fried shrimp are fire! Personal favorite are the chicken & beef combo. Ordered the teriyaki chicken plate with Mac Salad and choose the veggies in vinegar. First off, the service was super fast. From the time I walked in to the time the food was at my table was less then 10 minutes. The chicken was decent for filling my teriyaki fix as I've had better (i did love the char), Mac salad was on point and vegetables were delicious. My only real complaint was the rice was not cooked all the way. Will I be back if in the area and need a healthy choice, probably. It's been a long time since I have been there. It's hard not to stop in go eat here as you can smell the good teriyaki meats cooking for a block away. The lady at the counter was very helpful helping me order what I was looking for. I got the beef and chicken combo with both rice and noodles. It's also came with kimche or corn. I got the corn and a side of their killer macaroni salad. The chicken and beef was flavored really well with a good teriyaki flavor. The noodles were good too. It costs me about $20.09 total. So disappointed. Used to be good not sure what happened. Order over $100 of food for dads birthday. Kalua pork was so so dry most of us did not say anything but there was a lot left because it was not good. My dad did like the lomi salmon and mac salad. It's been a very long time since I've been here, pre-Pandemic last visited, and it doesn't appear to be the same. The macaroni salad is flavorless. Is it even mayonnaise? I don't think so. I was really looking forward to macaroni salad, but it was like eating cold unsalted butter. I ordered take out, Chicken Teriyaki and Chicken Katsu. The containers were filled end to end with dry rice. The Katsu was burnt, salty, shriveled up pieces of dark meat. Not what I'm used to. Isn't Katsu supposed to be white meat? Katsu literally means cutlet in Japanese. The breading didn't seem like a usual Panko breading or tori either. The katsu sauce was too vinegary, much too tangy. This place is a staple of Vancouver, WA. The food is good (used to be great), however the focus of my review is on the extreme lacking in quality assurance. I have gotten take-out from this location about 10 times now and about 7 of those times my order was given to me incorrectly. Either the workers in the kitchen don't carefully read tickets or the people taking orders lack good listening. It's frustrating realizing they've given you the wrong food when you're already home. I shouldn't have to check. However in the past when I caught the mistakes before leaving the restaurant, they cook the right food quickly, but the quality is so bad because it's been rushed.If you do choose to come here for takeout, be wary of their lack of communication and definitely check your food before you leave. First time here and definitely my last. Dim and dingy restaurant. Food barely edible. I ordered Katsu chicken and some fries to share. Fries were soggy. Chicken was thigh meat (not my favorite). Food was very basic, greasy and flavorless. To top it off I found a balled up wad of dental floss sitting top of the rice under a piece of chicken. Not sure why this place has 4 stars. Ordered dinner for the two of us and it was delicious. My husband really like Mac salad and it did not disappoint! The Kal-bi ribs were delicious and the pulled pork was flavorful. I would go back for sure.

We have been long time customers, literally almost 20 years from when they were Hawaiian Charbroil on fourth plain. The new owners have changed the recipes and the food is not the same. They had it all. Why would you change ingredients and quality of food after it's a well known establishment. I have had it 4 times since change of ownership and each time I've been very disappointed. Very upset with this place! I just ordered take out and I upgraded to noodles and only got rice and no noodles and then they forgot the ribs that go with my other meal and then they charged my husband for a few teriyaki and sweet chili sauces. I spend almost $40 and left a good tip and my order isn't even right. Why the hell would I get charged for sauces that should come with my order that's bs. I went with the bbq burger, I was served a thin piece of charcoal which had been a beef patty before it was incinerated on their grill. The French fries were basic, served hit. The wife liked the Loki Moki. When I pointed out the state of the burger, they did offer to replace it. Being from the islands thought I would give this place a try. Did not like what I ordered. The Chicken was over cooked, was dry and burnt. I picked out the eatable pieces and left the rest. Kim Chee had no salt all you taste was the really hot chili spice. Mac salad was basic, mayo and macaroni. The place is so dark I could barely see what I was eating. Please come back Herb. Long time reg. But the last 2 time I have took my family the service was ok. This time the place had only one waitress coving after waiting 30 for a call to tell us are table was ready I went in found out they sat the people behind use first.
