Fair Warning: this place no longer accepts Groupons or similar deals, if you have one, be prepared for them to reject it.House of Bites is a mix of Mediterranean, pizza, pasta, burgers, beers and sandwiches . It's hodgepodge, not fancy but not dirty by any means and definitely has an after-Little-League game or watching UFC with a pitcher of Coors vibe. The food is good and plentiful; I opted for the gyro burger. Had the burger just been beef, trimmings and a bun it would've been big in its own right but they packed on a bunch of gyro slices and some tzatziki sauce and it was a glorified handful of feast with fries in the side. This small restaurant offers large portions and good food. The menu is extensive and they have a large takeaway business. The Italian food is usually my choice and I have not been dissatisfied.

I have been by here a dozen times but usually eat at a neighboring restaurant... Awesome food!  This is twice now that my boyfriend and I have ordered food for delivery.  The first time I ordered the calzone which was so big that I honestly ate it 4 times.  My boyfriend ordered the fettuccine alfredo with chicken.  He wasn't crazy about the chicken which was dry.  However, we ordered again since it was overall so good.  This time I ordered lasagna and he ordered pesto ravioli.  Both came with salads and garlic bread.  This place is great!  Delivery to Saint Archer is icing on the cake! OMG THE BIGGEST CALZONE EVER. I was eating it for lunch for a couple days fersher lol. I only ate maybe 1/6 of it lmao. You can turn any of their pizza options into a calzone. So worth it for like $10-14 though. It was bigger than my head!!!!I also have had their pastas. It comes with some bombbbbbb garlic bread. The lasagna is good and tortellini. This place is extremely underrated, their pies are quite flavorful and well priced, their burgers are sumptuous and plus it's located next to my favorite cigar lounge and they deliver there so I might be a little biased on this. Their beers are also solid, they carry a few craft brews on draft which is cool. The spot has quite a number of TVs and they show all major sports (big plus). Good stuff here! For a little hole in the wall place this place ROCKS!! Mozzarella sticks were just right, not greasy like they usually are. The basic Calzone for $10 +$1.25 per filling was THE BOMB!!! For lunch I couldn't even finish half of it, Even my buddy David who's a little on the Fluffy side couldn't finish his!!! The other stuff on the menu looked just as good. Great service from the 2 gentlemen, and it looks like they also have delivery.Definitely put this spot on the rotation! I am enjoying my first order from House of Bites as I write:) what a great experience! The food is delicious and the prices are really good. I ordered the calzone with the pepperoni halal as I didn't see pepperoni on the add on items, I thought I only saw pepperocinis? Anyway, Taylor called me right away to let me know they didn't have the halal pepperoni which was totally fine by me because they have traditional pepperoni as well. Btw, I looked it up and halal means beef based whereas traditional pepperoni is a mixture of beef/pork. Wasn't a big deal for me. Taylor was very pleasant and adjusted  my order right away. We received our food sooner than the amount of time estimated through grub hub. Super impressed by the food, & customer service. We visited the Resturant today around 5:30 . The place was nice and the lady who works there was very friendly. They have halal meat so that's why I recommend this place because it is really hard to find halal restaurants that offer halal meat . The price is fair and the portion of the food is a lot . Date of visit: December 28, 2018Even though it's now 2019, I'm still a bit behind on my reviews... so here we go with my first of the year!  Anyways, the Groupon I had for House of Bites was set to expire that weekend, and thus I went off to redeem it at this Mediterrean/Italian place.Since the Groupon was good for only $15, I figured I'd use it on a calzone, appetizer, and drink (it would be my way of thanking them for honoring the Groupon).  So, I paid for a 6-piece order of lemon pepper wings ($6.99), a Diet Pepsi (2.99)... and while the Groupon covered the calzone ($9.99), since it only has cheese and sauce, I opted to upgrade it to a Works one with pepperoni, sausage, onions, and peppers - which cost $4.50 extra (and which wasn't mentioned on the menu).Be that as it may, the wings were cooked just right with a crisy exterior and a juicy interior.  The calzone was what surprised me; I was expecting something akin to what Pizza Hut or Domino's has with their single person ones.  At House of Bites, what you get appears to be a large pizza folded in on itself and baked to a well-done crust!  This thing is huge... but then I heard of the GIANT Calzone Challenge, where a team of 3 has 45 minutes to polish off the massive 1/2 table sized one (so far, only three teams out of 45 have accomplished this feat).  My Works Calzone was delicious, and I had lots of leftovers to take home with me afterwards.The restaurant itself is pretty clean, with several flat screen TVs tuned into various sporting events.  The gal running the register made sure to check on my drink refills and to bring me my orders when they were done.  Yes, the service here can be a bit slow, but then again everything comes out freshly made!So, consider this a 4.5 star review, and with the Groupons for House of Bites being plentiful, I'm sure I'll be coming back here (if anything, to try their burgers and sandwiches)! I tried the manicotti dinner on my most recent visit and was impressed. I loved the stuffed pasta and the garlic bread that accompanied it. The dinner also came with a side salad and I appreciated the assortment of food as I've always preferred to eat a little of a lot of things rather than a lot of one. Great restaurant off Mira Mar! Came on a Sunday around 2pm. Not busy at all. The food is bar food with a Mediterranean twist. Mozzarella sticks, Philly Cheese Steak, and Gyro under $30. I enjoy House of Bites several times a month with my coworker. Hector makes the whole lunch hour very pleasant when we can get away from the office. We were in fact eating our lunch - I had an AMAZING Philly sandwich btw, on a day about two weeks ago. A call had come in and Hector took it. We could tell it was a complaint about something. Hector handled the call professionally and calmly. He never once raised his voice and offered to remake the meal. A few minutes later a lady came storming in. She started yelling and was incredibly rude. This situation ended with her throwing her food and making a huge mess. Now, I am not sure exactly what the problem was, but I for one have NEVER had a bad experience with Hector or House of Bites in the 3 years I have been eating here. I HIGHLY recommend this resturant! We were in Miramar one night craving chicken wings and this place came up on yelp... and boy am I glad we came here! This place is such a hidden gem. .. they have so many great options for food: sandwiches, burgers, wings, pizza, calzones... it's the perfect food place after getting soused at the breweries. Walking in, the restaurant looks like a diner with plenty of seating. The employees were all very nice and were pretty great at recommending things to eat. We went with the buffalo wings and works pizza. The chicken wings were HUUUUUGE! They were crispy and full of flavor. They exceeded my expectations and were cooked to perfection. I'm used to restaurants undercooking wings to the point where they're slimy and bloody. These wings are heavenly!Now to the pizza... the works pizza had pepperoni, sausage, bell peppers, onions, and mushrooms. There's not enough compliments I can give to this pizza. The crust is perfect... eerily similar to a New York style pizza. The toppings were in abundance and tasted super fresh. They did not skimp on the meat... I had pepperoni and sausage in every bite. I'm kind of a pizza snob, but this pizza lands in my top 5 best pizzas of all time! I feel so lucky to live close by. This restaurant is a diamond in the rough and deserves more exposure. It's a shame that more people haven't tasted the greatness of House of Bites! I hope this place stays in business for years to come. My husband,two boys and myself went to The House of Bites a few weeks ago in San Diego. We were so impressed by the menu, as it had a wide range of food options and it catered to the Muslim community. Normally when I go to a Halal restaurant, the options are usually the same, but here, we were able to try sandwiches, cheese steak, burgers... you name it! We met the owner Hector, who seriously was such an amazing person. He went out of his way to share his experiences, he even walked to a nearby supermarket to buy my 2year old apple juice, because he wanted it so bad. Great place to eat. The food is excellent and the portion sizes are huge. We couldn't finish our meal because it was so much food. We especially enjoyed the pizza. My husband ordered a small pizza and it was a decent size. He really enjoyed it. I'm a New Yorker who loves pastrami but I can hardly find good pastrami in San Diego. I ordered the pastrami sandwich and did not regret it. It was served with provolone cheese, onions, tomatoes and lettuce. I should have said hold the lettuce but it was still a great sandwich. BIG YES..the food here Amazing, we were in town from Vancouver Canada and googled this place because of some of the halal options that they offer. We ordered the wings, Philly cheese steak and cheese teak burger. The service was very good and fairly quick the food was on point and portions were big.
