I attended the Hour of Change 6 week challenge program at the Belmont location. I have nothing but good things to say about this place. The trainers work with your schedule, making it hard to say no to a workout! The workouts target all levels of expertise. Nnamdi and Lamont both take the time to listen to your concerns. During the program, I received my very own meal plan to which taught me to eat right. I have decided to adopt this lifestyle to my daily life. I will not say it was easy, because I would be lying. There were days I could barely move from the pain my muscles were in. However, I ended the challenge feeling stronger and proud of myself. This program not only focuses on transforming your body but lifting your spirit as well. When I started the program I was 123.8lbs and after 6 weeks I was 111.4lbs. So, if you need a place where you can workout without being judge or a place where knowledgeable people are telling you how to transform your body give them a call. “I can’t wait to go workout tomorrow!!!” These are words in my 30+ years of life that I NEVER said before I started working out at Hour of Change. I always looked at working out and trying to manage eating well as chores…..chores that I never stuck with. Then, when I experienced a bad ankle injury a few years ago, I figured I definitely didn’t have a chance to do well with working out, nor did I want to. All of that changed this past summer when I started working out with Undo and Nnamdi (or Brother as I call him). They are two of the nicest and most genuine people I’ve met and they both have a true passion in building up a person through fitness. Since July, I have completely changed how I approach fitness and eating and I owe all of this to them. Not only is working out no longer a chore, I look forward to it. I’m not going to lie, it was definitely a hard go of it for the first month because of my ankle, but they made sure to modify exercises as to not agitate my ankle. They are both always patient and always attentive to each person to make sure they are getting the absolute most out of their workouts. It also helps that they make the gym feel like a family environment too. Everyone in the gym talks to each other and helps to motivate one another….it’s really awesome and positive. I feel the best I’ve felt physically in well….forever. I still have a lot of work to do but knowing that I have these two in my corner to help me achieve my goals, I’m not worried…..I know I’m going to get there!!! If you are looking for a new trainer, you will not regret giving them a shot. See ya there soon!! More...

Honestly, I kind of hate this place because: 1) I have to do laundry so often because of all the sweating I do.2) I've had to buy new pants (-2 sizes) and smaller clothes.  3) I'm less feminine  - I have bigger biceps than most hipsters, don't do "girly" pushups anymore, and have become one of those people who use the term "burpee" regularly. In all seriousness, my experience at HOC has been amazing. Everyone here, from the trainers Nnamdi and Undo, to the diverse clientele, is so positive and encouraging that I always feel so lifted after a workout -- both physically and energetically. I know that it might sound like some granola BS, and I was probably the biggest skeptic of all: "Can all these 5-star reviews be true?" "Maybe I should get a Groupon to be safe" "I've always been more of a mathlete than an athlete" "Personal trainers are for celebrities and people who have raw juice subscriptions" So rather than have me wax on about how down-to-earth everyone is here, how accommodating the trainers are to my schedule, how considerate the trainers are of injuries, illnesses, and minor pain, how creative the workouts are and ever-changing, or how I drank the kool-aid, lived to tell the tale, and lost 15lbs in the process, you should just come try it for yourself. When I went into Hour of Change I was looking for a place that I could get in shape and feel comfortable. I had previously been a marathon runner and also had fancy trainers while living in California but I had let myself go and needed a serious butt kicking trainer. I saw the groupon ad but I really wanted one on one training so I went in and talked to Nnamdi who worked out a personalized plan after doing a thorough fitness assessment. Although I don't participate in the group classes I have been cheered on by many of HOC loyal participants as we work in ourselves and see each other struggle and progress from week to week. I had a choice of many fancy trainers and gyms in the area but I have chosen this no frills gym to make my transformation for two reasons. They are extremely passionate about their members and they are hard core. If you are looking for support and a serious workout this is the place for you. I love working out.I never would have said that before I started going to Hour of Change.I'm 43 years old and have struggled with my weight my entire life. Even though I've kept off most of the 100lbs. that I lost in my 20's, I've put on a few pounds in my 40's that just don't come off as easily as they used to. I was frustrated. I was running, counting every calorie and doing exercises at home via apps on my phone 5 days a week, and seeing no results. My good friend told me about Hour of Change after having positive experiences there as well, so I figured I'd check it out.I can honestly say that I see a difference in the way I look and feel. The waist in my pants are looser, my arms are toned and my thighs are thinner. My abs are tighter than they've been in ages and I feel strong, and feeling strong is empowering. They are attentive and are always watching form and adjusting to my needs. I never feel bad when I just can't seem to finish the exercise, because they move me right onto the next thing or adjust it to make it something I can do while still keeping it challenging.Nnamdi and his brother Undo are the nicest dudes, and I find that going there at the end of a long day at work is a great way to unwind. One year ago I was in the best shape of my life. I ran the Chicago Quarter Marathon, then the Bolder Boulder (10k at 5,000+ feet), and was training for my first half marathon in Napa. Four days before my first half marathon, my mom passed away. I still ran the half marathon but collapsed in tears half way through it. My friends picked me up and ran with me to the finish. It was the hardest 13 miles of my life emotionally and my time was an utter embarrassment to how many miles of training I had done to prepare. After the half, I hit a dark place. I quit running. I quit the gym. I quit my healthy diet. I quit my hobbies. I even broke my toe in early 2016 which set me back further.I paid for my lack of training at the 2016 Bolder Boulder. When I reached the top of mile 4 (straight uphill - peak of the race), I was upset.I was nearing my 2015 finish time and still had more than 2 miles to go. I promised myself I would get back into shape. The next week I found a Groupon for Hour of Change Fitness. The reviews were astounding so I decided to buy the 20 pack. Go big or go home, right? The first circuit was the kick in the butt I needed. It felt so good. Every 1-2 minutes, the exercise changed. Battle ropes (harder than they look). Kettle bells. Russian twists. Burpees. Flutter kicks. Wall sits with punched. Dead lifts. Squats. Squats with weights. Squats just because. More burpees. More battle ropes. Cue the sweat. Feel the burn. The trainers are a blast. Some days they even have a lot of sass. They do accommodate injuries (bad knees, bad shoulders, etc.) and customize the circuit per individual. Because of my broken toe, I lost my toenail and have just a 'nub.' This prevents me from doing some activities so Undo and Nnamdi will alter the circuit, accommodating for my tender 'nub.' The trainers encourage everyone there. In a few weeks, I've regained my confidence, feel stronger than ever, and actually look forward to getting my butt kicked. My ultimate goal is to do a pull-up. After the circuit, I do three sets of 1 plank, 2 pull-ups, and 2 chin-ups. Undo has been encouraging and supporting in helping me achieve a pull-up. As of this review, I'm 3/4 to a chin-up and 1/2 to a pull-up. I met another client who came in with the same goal and she told me she was able to do a pull up a few months after she started.
