The only place to stay in Hood River. This historic hotel is very charming. The accommodations are very comfortable and impeccably clean and the staff is friendly and accommodating. We're staying here now! Having just eaten a giant breakfast at Bette's Place, I couldn't wait to get back to the room and sprawl out on the comfy bed and lush duvet. As I relax, looking out at the Columbia River, I realize, "this is good."Hood River is a great place to chill, and the Hood River Hotel is the place to stay. More...

What a treat! Stayed in Hood River for a night and loved this hotel! They upgraded us for no charge to a huge suite! Amazing! Everything is in walking distance and love the historical old timey feel. Only negatives would be there wasn't a full size mirror in the room, and we had the window open at night and could definitely hear the trains going by-which the room did have ear plugs for it. It wasn't a nuisance for us, but I can see how others would be bothered by it-not the hotel's fault obviously. Breakfast at Broder was delectable! The front desk was super awesome and helpful! We will definitely be back! More...

I will not get this lucky again. My husband decided to surprise me on our anniversary and got us a room. At first we were planning on taking our dog and my husband told them that put us down as a maybe. He got a call asking if we had decided to take the doggy and secretly asked me and I told him no. When we got there we were upgraded to the largest room/suite in the hotel. It was amazing! Apparently another guest wanted to bring their dog so they got our original room. It was so great! We still got charged for the regular rate.We had a full living room, extra bedrooms, full kitchen. Goodness! Spoiled! The staff was great, too! The location is convenient. No need for a car. The room was very comfortable and the beds were probably the most comfortable I've slept on in a hotel. Cheers to the gentlemen for asking me and my friends on what music we wanted to listen to in the lobby when we were playing cards games. Great and place and service! My wife and I were truly impressed by her knowledge, courtesy, and overall competence.I love the setting and the comfort here, but the staff will keep us coming back. This is a lovely hotel. I would give it 3.5 stars if that were an option. It matches the pictures on their website exactly. The staff was accommodating, helpful, and kind. Our room was cozy and warm and the bedding was a real treat. The bathroom is quite small, but not unexpected given the images available online. A few things to note if you're considering a stay here: 1) I wouldn't recommend springing for a room with a view. The view was *okay,* but not worth paying extra for. It also couldn't be seen from the bed, which honestly seems like the main reason to pay for a view.2) The rooms are loud. We could hear every single person that walked past our room and could also hear the street noise well into the night (past 1 AM). This is probably because of the original single pane windows.3) They offer local, complimentary coffee starting at 6 AM and refill it throughout the day, but the carafe was empty both times my husband went to take advantage.4) You have to pay for off street parking (which the website states very clearly) and street parking is metered until 6 PM.If a friend or family member asked me if I recommended this hotel, I would most likely say yes, but with the caveats above. Complimentary beer, live music, and a huge fireplace. James was one of the biggest highlights of our trip and he was so genuine and awesome to talk to. Wade was also such a stand up guy and really really added so much to our trip. We'll be back year after year, no question about it. More...

Maybe too pricey for what it is unless you'll pay for 'historic' hotels. Great look decor. Id stay again but am also more interested in airbnb locations because They offer more privacy than hotels do. But this one is right in town and i walked to many breweries, shops, and eateries! Pros: Comfy beds (best bed I slept in while in Oregon)Free cofee and teaGreat toiletriesThey have AC and works well. My room did have extra tabs Cons:Super small rooms (think Europe, but maybe smaller)The shower was small. The sink is outside the bathroom in the roomThe elevator is old school and I was always afraid of getting stuck Not enough plugs This hotels is quirky and fun. If you don't mind the size of the room, then it's a great hotel. It's walking distance  to everything. We parked at a meter since it was free at night and we were leaving early. If not, you do have to pay for parking. The registration area is super cute. The elevator is the one that you have to close the gate for it to function. It functioned. As I mentioned above, the rooms were small. It was good for one night, but with two suitcases and two grown adults, I couldn't make it more than that. For those that have trouble sleeping with light, the room door has a window. It does have a curtain, but the light still peaks in. I can't say that I loved the place, but it sure was interesting. Hood River is a beautiful town. Wake up early and enjoy the scen More...

They are wonderful people. The hotel itself is a nice old hotel with a bright airy lobby, the room are small, basic and clean, the bed was quite comfortable. This hotel is fantastic! The building is your classic early 1900's brick building. The suites actually feel like little apartments or condos with kitchens, sitting rooms, along with the bedrooms. If you're looking for a modern hotel, this is not the one, but if you like vintage buildings and historical charm, this is the place. They are going through some updates so the rooms may be finished slightly different. The new updated rooms are definitely much better. Also, if you can get the suites on the NE corner of the building, they have incredible views of the river! More...

Stayed here for a business trip. The accommodations were fair. Timing not so much given that there was a forest fire near by. The hotel and city itself was super smoky. I stayed on the 3rd floor so there wasn't a central air unit. But instead they had a fan that I could prop up to hit the bed. The overhead fan is no use (you can see a thick layer of dust) did not want to breathe that in. They have ice that's prepackaged on the first floor. With free water and coffee throughout the day. They offer a parking pass for $7 where you can park around the hotel. My experience was great. I got to go to a bar next to the hotel, the water was perfect for a nice hot shower, the hair dryer worked great. The employees were great as well. The pillows were just a bit too soft so my neck hurt in the morning but the bed was super comfy. At times you can hear people walking but they offer ear plugs for that. I can't really complain it was awesome to stay here (disregarding the unpleasantries of the fires). More...

When we travel we like to make where we stay as important as the sights we see.  Even though we rarely spend two nights in one place (we are those kind of travelers) we still want it to be memorable.   If it's possible, we don't want to stay in just any hotel.  We want the hotel experience to be as memorable as every other part of the trip.  So, when choosing a hotel for an overnight stay in Hood River Oregon, I was thrilled to find the Historic Hood River Hotel. As soon as we drove up and saw the building, we knew we had made the right choice.  It was charming and quaint with a deco looking neon sign.  You walk into the lobby, which is warm and welcoming.Walking into our rooms, we fell in love immediately.    There were restored hardwood floors through out.  The kitchen was charming, with everything you would need.Antiques and modern amenities blended perfectly.  The bedroom, with it's old radiator and geraniums in the window box and antique bed, made you feel like you were staying at your favorite grandma's house for the weekend. The view out the window with the mountains and river was just as special as the rooms! Our favorite room was the living room with the large windows.  After grabbing dinner out (everything in easy walking distance) we settled on the couch with a bottle of Oregon wine and planned the next days adventures. Our only complaint was that we only booked one night!  We would have gladly stayed longer.  So warm, inviting and charming!
